  • "We really love Hub House!"

It’s a deceptively spacious lodge that is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Both beds and the settee were very comfortable indeed. We loved the open plan layout of the living space, dining area and kitchen. The projector was great fun! We ‘mirrored’ the projector to our iPad as per the owner’s written instructions, and enjoyed wall-sized music and videos of an evening! There were many thoughtful touches at Hub House - doggy extras; a welcome tray; tea and coffee; and bathroom toiletries were all provided. The lodge was very well equipped with plenty of kitchen utensils and a hairdryer too. It was lovely to park right outside off road. The location was perfect for us, and our dog - a short drive to the stunning Hastings Country Park, doggie heaven with its stunning walks and views, Hastings town centre and the coast. The train station just a three minute walk away. Hub House is a great, comfortable and well located base with many thoughtful touches. Thoroughly recommend and would love to return.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re absolutely delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at Hub House and appreciate the positive feedback. It’s great to know you found the lodge comfortable, well-equipped, and perfectly located for exploring Hastings and the Country Park. We’re especially pleased your dog enjoyed it too! We really appreciate your kind words and would love to welcome you back again soon Property Owner

  • "Clean bright and modern."

Lacked several basic essentials, no oven gloves, no baking tray, no shower mat. Tiny tv at an angle you couldn’t watch. Projector ok for Nexflix etc. although not essential no dishwasher, wash machine or hairdryer, we’ve stayed in over 40 cottages and always had all of these items if listed as 4*. Horrid drain smell in bathroom whilst there, hopefully that’s been fixed as owner was advised. The outside space could not be used as covered in thousands of acorns that had not been cleared at all. Be aware if you have a dog you cannot let them out onto the patio as you need to go out of the front door and walk round to the side gate there is no internal door to the patio.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found the property clean, bright, and modern, but we’re sorry to learn that your stay didn’t fully meet expectations. We appreciate your comments regarding the missing essentials and facilities, and we will review these to see what can be improved or added for future guests. The drain issue you experienced has been reported to maintenance and has since been resolved. Regarding the outdoor space, we apologize that it wasn’t in the best condition during your visit — seasonal debris can sometimes build up quickly. We also understand your concerns about patio access and will make sure this is clarified more clearly in our listing so guests are aware beforehand. Your feedback is very valuable to us, and we hope we’ll have the opportunity to welcome you back for a more comfortable stay in the future. Property Owner

  • "Although Hub House is relatively spacious we felt that overall it was disappointing."

The bedrooms were a reasonable size but lacked the neccessary furniture with hanging space in one room and a chest of drawers in the other room. Fine if there is just a couple but not acceptable if 4 people were staying. The hanging space was just about enough for the 2 of us but no more. The property did not have a hairdryer and whilst we acknowledge it wasn't listed on the amenities, this was the first place that we have stayed at that didn't have one. In the kitchen we were not able to cook very much as the utensils were sadly lacking with one giant saucepan and one small one. The description of the property was that the kitchen was well equipped with a fridge freezer which is misleading as it is a fridge with a small icebox. It does have a microwave, hob, oven, toaster and kettle but no baking trays. The small details make all the difference for instance providing more saucepans and cooking utensils would be welcome. Reattaching the plug in the sink and the bathroom would also be helpful. A washing up bowl would be good because the sink does not hold water with the plug in. The sitting area has a very small television and also a projector that you can watch Netflix on but we couldn't get anything other than kids programmes. The dining chairs could do with a couple of additional cushions as could the settee. Overall we were disappointed and felt that the accommodation was overpriced and not good value. It is a shame as we have stayed in a number of Sykes cottages and expected better for the price.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We’re sorry to hear that some aspects didn’t meet your expectations, though we feel many of the points raised come down to personal preference. The property is equipped with the essentials for a comfortable stay, but we will certainly take your suggestions into consideration. Property Owner

  • "I found this property last minute !"

Firstly, the property is simple but gorgeous!!!! In my opinion it’s in the middle of nowhere (however it’s 3-4mins from the station ) and because I didn’t drive down walking was my best tool ! Lots of amazing hikes near by Hastings and rye and ore .. There was a small bottle of Ginger wine and muffins and a doggy basket with a lead and poo bags and dog treats and blanket (which melted my heart ) ! The properly is equipped with everything you need ! I would bring a dish sponge

  • "This is an absolute gem!"

Everything was done to a very high standard. The owners contacted me soon after my arrival, to make sure all was OK. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen and towels were of a very high quality. Also very comfy sofa and not only a television, but also a projector for Netflix etc. It was a real home from home. I can't think of anything that could have made my stay any better. I can't recommend highly enough.

Thank you for your feedback it is really appreciated. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Hub House. Property Owner

HASTINGS

Battle 6 miles; Rye 12 miles.

The large historic town of Hastings offers a great mix of interesting places to visit, and is comprised of three parts, joined by the promenade. On one side is the Old Town, with narrow streets or 'twittens', attractive houses, Shipwreck and Fisherman's museums, wonderful tall black net huts, a fresh fish market, seafood restaurants and cafés. In the middle there is a contemporary shopping centre and on the other side is St Leonards on Sea with its fashionable Norman Road with antique and vintage shops, art galleries, examples of Burton's architecture (of Kew Gardens and London Zoo fame), Marine Court Art Deco flats designed in the shape of the HMS Queen Mary, and the remains of the Amsterdam, which is visible at low tide at Bulverhythe. West Hill in Hastings is home to the Smugglers Adventure and Pelham Beach, and East Hill offers the Hastings Country Park, 660 acres of ancient woodlands, grasslands and heathlands crossing five miles over cliffs and rugged terrain, plus East Hill can also be reached by taking the 'lift', the steepest funicular railway in Britain. Whilst exploring Hastings, visit The Stade and watch fishermen land their catch, plus why not take a trip to Blue Reef Aquarium and the remains of Hastings Castle? Pevensey Castle, dating from the 4th century, and the first Norman Church are twelve miles away. Further afield enjoy the NT properties of Bodiam Castle, Sissinghurst and Scotney Castle, the cinque port of Rye, the abbey at Battle or the beach and dunes at Camber Sands.
