  • "The check-in information was easy to follow and even though we arrived late (around 8pm) and it was dark we accessed the cottage easily - having the torch fully charged and available was fantastic."

The cottage is so well equipped with everything you need and I loved the personal touches like the food in the fridge, the herbs and spices, the teas and coffee, the ornaments, the dog bowls, and the whiskey! Everything was spotless. The garden was enclosed but not secure for dogs so it may be worth highlighting that or securing the garden for people with dogs as the front gate is very close to the main road. The staff at the visitor centre were very helpful and friendly when we spoke to them about it. We would love to return as the cottage and the area are both amazing and we had a fantastic time despite the rain and cold! My only suggestion for improvement would be to somehow make the twin room downstairs more homely - it felt cold and impersonal compared to the rest of the house so even a few ornaments or more colour in the room might help.

  • "What a beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting!"

On arrival, we were delighted with so many welcoming touches - fresh flowers, milk and bread and orange juice, biscuits, and even whisky and gin! We didn't realise it was a National Trust property, and there were beautiful pictures and items from the National Trust shop over the road in Inverewe Gardens. We also had free admission to the gardens, which were beautiful, and we had a great trip out on the boat with Jamie, seeing an otter, seals and lots of birds. The cottage was very well equipped and had everything we could possibly need. The beds were comfy, and we enjoyed putting wood on the stove in the evening. It's a dark sky area, and we saw millions of stars at night. This was the best holiday let we've ever been to, and it's the first time I've ever cried on leaving a place! Truly idyllic ❤️

  • "We stayed at Srondubh in August 2025 and were delighted to find out we were their first guests after a 3 year renovation of the property."

The house was absolutely beautiful. It’s was spotlessly clean (which is important for someone with a bit of OCD around cleanliness so was a huge relief as you can never really know how clean holiday lets are going to be from pictures), top of the range appliances, lovely local toiletries and a very thoughtful welcome pack of teas, coffees, bread, milk, biscuits, even local whiskey and gin and some lovely provisions for our dog too. Staying at the house gave us free entry to the inverlewe gardens which is an absolute must visit on your trip. They were stunning and a wonderful gift shop too. We used the house as a home away from home on a road trip so we were able to visit Corrieshalloch gorge, Gairloch beach, big sands beach, Firemore beach, ardvreck castle, clashnessie falls and beach, allt chranaidh waterfall and eve the Isle of Skye. We will definitely be coming back again in the future!

Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re delighted you enjoyed the welcome touches, the gardens, and the chance to explore so much of the surrounding area. It’s wonderful to hear you felt at home and we’d be thrilled to welcome you back to a National Trust for Scotland property in the future. Property Owner

POOLEWE

Dingwall 50 miles; Ullapool 50 miles.

The pretty village of Poolewe sits in the shelter of Loch Ewe, at the mouth of the River Ewe where it tumbles down from Loch Maree. It is a pretty place in an area of spectacular scenery and is home to a well-stocked shop, small swimming pool and two hotels. The world-renowned Inverewe Garden (National Trust for Scotland) is half a mile across the bay from the village. The site was developed by the botanist Osgood Mackenzie from 1862 until his death in 1922. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, it is home to exotic plants, imported from all over the world – a must for all visitors to the area. Firemore beach is five miles to the west and north along the coast is Gruinard Bay with its striking sands; a series of attractive beaches skirt the bay and a number are easily reached from the main road. With spectacular scenery, mountains, excellent hillwalking, golf, fishing, wildlife cruises and much more, this is a great area for a holiday!
