  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old House."

The property is perfect and, although small, we had everything we needed. It was beautifully clean throughout and the furnishings are very tasteful. The bed is extremely comfortable and the beautiful views from the bedroom and living room windows create a feeling of tranquility. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed walking to An Corran Beach and along the bank of the River Stenscholl. Staffin is well equipped with amenities and, as well as making use of Staffin Stores for odd bits of shopping, we visited both the Columba 1400 Cafe and the Hungry Gull, all within easy walking distance of the property. To avoid the potholes and take in the scenery more easily, we made use of the no.57 bus on several occasions with trips to Portree, Uig and Broadford (for Broadford we changed buses at Portree to the citylink service). It was so handy having a bus stop just at the end of the Garafad Road. We hope to return one day- it was a fantastic week and we really loved the property.

  • "Gorgeous little cottage."

It was clean, comfortable and inviting. Some lovely touches like surround sound for the TV, and a pack of delicious walkers shortbread biscuits provided for guests. There is also a restaurant and a shop a 2 min drive away and it is very close to the Isle’s most beautiful landscapes - like the Quiraing, Old Man of Storr, The Fairy Glen & Kilt Rock. The only advice I would offer is to provide a hairdryer - as most people don’t travel with them, especially if coming from overseas, as voltage doesn’t translate in the UK. Anyway, we loved it and would definitely stay again. Thank you

We had not been to Skye before but we feel we picked the perfect location for us. There were so many beautiful places to visit within a half hour drive. The house was very quiet which we loved. Small but cosy and had everything we needed for a wonderful holiday. We would love to come back.

  • "An absolute gem of a property."

Exactly what we needed. Very well appointed, nice and clean and warm with very efficient heaters. The bed was heavenly and we slept so well. Loved the views and accessibility to walk to so many beautiful places. It was also so nice to be able to walk to the local shop which also had a fantastic little cafe which served beautifully prepared tasty food. We last came to Skye twenty three years ago and so pleased we were revisiting the beautiful island. Everybody was so friendly and once you get used to dodging the potholes it was a breeze. Hopefully we can return again in the near future. Very many thanks.

  • "Myself and my partner had a fantastic time at The Old House."

We travelled up to Staffin to find a beautiful house fitted with great facilities, beautiful scenery and friendly locals. We experienced snowfall that covered the area in a thick, white blanket - when speaking to the owner they said that it had been 25 years since snow had fallen like it did there. We found ourselves incredibly lucky to have been there at that time, and when the clouds of snow parted, we were able to look up at the sky on an evening and see thousands of stars and even Jupiter, Venus and Saturn on display. We hope to come back here again!

  • "Loved the cottage, has everything you need and is warm and very comfortable."

It’s in an ideal location we found for exploring the island, and had a great time looking for the dinosaur footprints on an corran beach which is literally 5 mins away from the cottage and also seeing the northern lights, which the owner gave us a call to say they were on display and to look outside, a big thank you for the heads up.

  • "A lovely, cozy cottage with everything you need."

I enjoyed my stay very much. The cottage is well thought out, decorated to a high standard and warm. I didn't need to use the woodburner as I was warm enough - and this was in November!. The bed was large and very comfortable. It's located in an ideal position to explore the northern end of the Isle of Skye. You can see the Trotternish Ridge from the cottage and the Quiraing is less than a 10 minute drive away. The cafe on the corner (in the Columba 1400 building) is excellent and well worth a visit and all proceeds go to supporting young people.

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage."

All we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Plenty of hot water, comfy bed, great shower and plenty of logs supplied for the log burner which we used each evening. Cottage is in an ideal place to explore the North of Skye and ideal to come back to after a day climbing in the hills.

  • "We would unreservedly recommend the Old House."

As for Staffin, well we came to like it but we were blessed with good weather. If your idea of Skye is mountainous hills, look further south where travel times would be shorter. The cottage was very comfortable. Yes it’s compact, but all the essentials are there and are pretty much uncompromised by space limitations. The standard and style of decor and fitments would meet the exacting standards of customers of, say, John Lewis or M&S Home. As you get to know the area more you take in the shops and the cafe virtually a stone’s throw away across a sheep filled field. And you notice the little boards that weren’t there the day before, announcing an event. Nearby is some spectacular scenery, eg at Storr or Quiraing, and the Fairy Glen (not the pools which are way down south) aka Hobbitland. If you go when the weather’s nice, look out for coffee vans and full car parks. But simply considering the Old House itself, we were very comfortable and very happy.

It is well equipt with everything you will ever need during your stay. You have so many landmarks on your doorstep the old man of storr and kilt rock waterfalls. If your thinking of a stay on the isle you couldnt go wrong with the old cottage at Garrafad. Tony ( Liverpool August 2022 )

The location is very quiet and calming - it’s a perfect place to relax. The view from The Old House of The Quirang is fabulous, and we were also delighted to discover a short walk over the fields at the back of the house to An Corron beach with the dinosaur footprints!
