  • "Katie and Roddy are the loveliest hosts."

    From the well designed pod to the little treats they leave for you, you couldn't wish for more. This is enhanced by the delightful Cora, the border collie, whos loves pets and loves to play football with you and the lovely new pup lassie who is like a mini tornedo running about - both absolutely delightful. The views are fabulous, the co-op nearby is well stocked. . It's a great base for touring the Islands. Would 100% recommend booking this little treasure.

  • "This pod is small but perfectly formed."

    Lots of thought has been given to ensuring that the space is used well and all equipment from shower to bed to cooker to TV to chairs and table are excellent. Roddy and Katie are friendly hosts, providing nice wee touches like a welcome G&T and also an in-person run through the various bits of equipment. Location is good for getting around North Uist, with local beaches a short distance away as well as the Co-op close by. A great pod in a good location!

  • "We loved the Pod!"

    It's very cozy, but big enough so two people can comfortably stay in it. It was perfectly clean and well equipped. The view is absolutely amazing, and you can take great walks starting right at the pod. A well stocked supermarket is a short walk away. Roddy and Katie were great hosts. We would love to come back, if we're ever in Scotland again.

  • "This is no ordinary pod."

    It is beautifully presented with so much thought given to its furnishing. I didn't expect to find a wine fridge or induction hob, but there they were. The towels are luxurious and the toiletries are classy. There are even pods provided for the Nespresso machine! The fridge is stocked with essentials, and even some non-essential treats. Just as importantly, I was given a proper warm welcome on arrival. I loved my stay here. PS The eggs were delicious.

  • "We enjoyed our stay in the pod enormously."

    The location overlooks fields with sheep, and is within easy walking distance of the local convenience store. Roddy and Katie could not have been more welcoming and hospitable, and kept us entertained with the antics of their dog, the ducks, hens, etc. The pod itself had everything we needed, and our dogs were welcomed. The local beaches are world class. A very peaceful and beautiful place.

    The pod was extremely beautiful and comfortable but the best was the friendliness and warmth of the hosts. Not to mention the chickens and the dog. A little paradise. We were simply happy and dream of coming back.

    They were extremely friendly, helpful and told us about the wildlife on uist aswel, I had my camera so that information was amazing. 10/10 and will definitely go back again. We can’t thank them enough as we booked our stay on the day as the weather was really bad and we were supposed to be camping haha

  • "The Solas Pod was a wonderful place to stay."

    It is newly constructed and the owners have really thought about how to make the small space work. The kitchen has new appliances and quality pots and pans. The heated floor warmed the space with ease. It was snug and cosy inside even when there was a gale raging outside. There is also fast wifi and a smart TV. The bed was very comfortable although felt narrow for two people. The location is close to the wonderful Taigh Iar beach and there were corncrakes and other birds nesting in the fields in spring. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home.

The property

Heisgeir is a luxury purpose-built, studio style pod located in Sollas the north of the Isle of North Uist. Boasting spectacular countryside views, this remote property sleeps two and allows parking for one car; the ideal secluded, romantic hideaway, with only a 15 minutes walk to the closest Sollas beach Step into a compact, open-plan living space where you’ll find a living/diner with a plush, leather sofa to sink into as you watch your favourite show on the Smart TV, a small dining table set for two for your dinner dates, and a fully-equipped kitchenette where you can wow your partner with your culinary skills.

After a busy day out, enjoy a steaming shower, making sure to use the heated towel rail on especially cold days, and plunge into the double bed to catch your rest. If you’re travelling during autumn and winter, bundle yourself up in your coat and scarf, and sit outside on the furnished desk to marvel at the colourful northern lights dancing across the black sky.

You’re ideally placed in Sollas, a popular destination on the Isle of North Uist, known for its amazing sand beaches that run almost the length of the north of the island; one area is large enough to be utilised as a landing strip for small planes!

You can find a local Co-op, where you can stock up on some essentials, just a stone’s throw from the property.

The Hebridean Way passes the property, making this the perfect base for walkers, cyclists and explorers.

On the Isle of Uist, you will find some cultural landmarks, such as St Kilda viewing point and Hut of the Shadow, dotted around the picture-perfect scenery.

For more of an educational day out, head to Lochmaddy for an afternoon of exploring Old Lochmaddy School and the Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum & Arts Centre.

Boat trips are available through charter companies to St Kilda, the Monach Isles and wildlife and fishing trips round Grimsay and east coast of North Uist weather permitting For a wonderful base on one of the prettiest isles on earth, choose Heisgeir.
