The property

Dog-friendly farmhouse with Menai Strait views is a spacious cottage near Beaumaris, Anglesey, set in generous wraparound gardens with far-reaching rural and sea views.

Inside, the bright kitchen/diner forms the heart of the home, where the cook of the group can prepare family favourites while everyone else gathers around the table to chat about the day’s plans.

A useful utility room helps keep walking gear and sandy paws in check, leaving the main living spaces free for relaxed holiday living.

After meals, drift into the roomy sitting area to unwind together, or head to the separate snug, where younger guests can dive into a film or challenge each other at table football while the adults enjoy a quiet drink. With a ground-floor double bedroom and a nearby shower room, the layout works well for multi-generational stays, while upstairs a family room and two twin bedrooms provide plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy a bit of privacy.

Outside, children and dogs can roam the enclosed gardens as you settle on the patio with a barbecue and watch the light shift across the Menai Strait and the surrounding countryside. When it is time to explore, make the short trip into Beaumaris to tour the historic castle and join a boat trip towards Puffin Island, keeping an eye out for dolphins and other sea life along the way.

Families can enjoy hands-on fun at Foel Farm Park, discover the underwater world at Anglesey Sea Zoo, and wander among exotic species at Butterfly World.

Beach days beckon at Rhosneigr, Newborough, Benllech or Lligwy, each offering sweeping sands and fresh sea air, while those seeking dramatic scenery can venture to Snowdonia National Park or RSPB South Stack for rewarding walks and wildlife encounters.

However you spend your stay, Dog-friendly farmhouse with Menai Strait views near Beaumaris, Anglesey, provides a memorable base on beautiful Anglesey.

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
