The property

Wayside Farm is a traditional cottage nestled in the picturesque village of Muker, opposite the River Swale.

Perched amidst the delightful Yorkshire Dales National Park, Wayside Farm offers a splendid escape for families seeking exploration of this idyllic region.

Upon entering, you are immediately charmed by the high-quality finish; to one side rests an open-plan kitchen and living area.

Here, you can rest at the armchair and keep the designated chef company whilst they prepare a feast in the kitchen that provides all the amenities needed for a short stay.

A walk through to the adjacent side provides a delightful sitting area, home to a spacious corner sofa, woodburning stove and Smart TV, creating a homely ambience, ideal for enjoying your downtime.

Serve a home-cooked dish at the dining table, toasting to a much-needed break with your group, before loading up the dishwasher and planning for tomorrow's adventure.

Whisk yourself upstairs and retire to the bedrooms, offering two double rooms with en-suite showers and a pretty bunk room for the little ones.

There's also a sumptuous family bathroom with bath and shower over, so you can best decide how to prepare for the day.

When you’d rather not cook, just a moment’s stroll away lies a welcoming pub, Farmers Arms, where you can enjoy some delicious grub and sample a range of ales (please check opening times and this can be shut on Sunday and Mondays).

Muker is also home to a tea room, crafts shop and village store (this does have reduced hours currently so please check before arrival), handy for grabbing any essentials- food deliveries are also allowed here!

Those looking to get their steps in, can find the beautiful Pennine Way path running through the village; taking you along miles of charming landscapes steeped with history and spectacular scenery.

If you would rather a bike ride we are a short ride away from Dale's Bike Centre.

While in the area, be sure to visit two of the area’s most popular waterfalls, Kisdon Force and Wain Wath Force, which make for a sight not to be missed.

Take your exploration further afield and spend an afternoon wandering the market town of Layburn or Richmond, home to many independent shops and an impressive Norman Castle Wayside Farm promises a splendid escape, whatever time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.

Muker is a village and civil parish at the western end of Swaledale, one of the Yorkshire Dales, in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated within the district of Richmondshire. From the late 19th century, Muker witnessed an increasing number of visitors and holiday makers, and today the village boasts many walking opportunities, with a selection of public footpaths in Upper Swaledale. Muker also hosts a village shop, as well as an art gallery, craft shop and a café within the old school building. Originally the Vicarage, the Muker village tea shop was built in 1680 and retains much of its 'Olde worlde charm' today. A Park Information Point for the Yorkshire Dales National Park can be found at the Muker Village shop. The village has one church; the Parish Church of Saint Mary, a Grade II* listed building. The River Swale runs parallel to the village, with Kisden Hill offering a charming backdrop.
