  • "Property was very clean and in a lovely setting."

Very peaceful and relaxing. Walks straight from doorstep, into woods. Owners attentive and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay. Only downside was that the bed was too hard for us, so we didnt sleep well, but may well be perfect for others. If topper was available for those who need a softer bed, it would be perfect.

  • "This was a lovely place to stay for a long weekend with my dog."

The property was very clean, comfortable, warm and had everything you could need for a short stay. I loved how quiet the area is, there are only a few properties close by and it is set back from the road. I really enjoyed watching the wildlife in the garden and of course my morning visit from the chickens! Just some considerations for any future visitors: There is no mobile phone reception at all in this location and this wasn’t a big deal once I as settled as there is wifi, but I arrived in the dark (not planned) and couldn’t see where the property was as there is no artificial lighting in the area at all. I used the postcode for the satnav, which to be fair took me pretty much to the right location… to help, if you enter the track through the gap in the wall, the property is up to the right which you can access either end of a track that runs parallel on a slope on the right of the one through the gap in the wall (hope that makes sense!). As I had no phone reception I was unable to call for directions or use “what three words”. However, John saw I was a damsel in distress and came to my rescue (shows how close I was!), which I am grateful for; and he set the property up for me when I arrived. In daylight everything was very obvious! I say all of this with absolutely no criticism to this lovely accommodation, more to help anyone else who arrives in the dark. Even with my confusion on arrival, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area. Me and my dog enjoyed some really lovely walks in the local area and relaxing evenings. Thank you for being lovely hosts.

The owners visited to ensure we were happy with the place.....we were! Good location to visit areas of interest. To turn the car around was at first a little tricky but soon learned. The garden needs to be checked for wildlife or chickens before letting the dog in there. We sorted that out. Altogether a lovely place and a lovely time had by us. Nice and quiet. Happily recommend and in fact we are seriously considering seeking to stay there next spring. We recommend the Wheatsheaf Inn near Aysgarth Falls for grub. Regards, Jim Gee

Deceptively spacious inside, well equipped and comfortably furnished. Floor to ceiling windows in the main living area give great views of Woodland and Wildlife, with walks in the woods from the door- Dog Heaven ! An excellent base to explore Teeside, with more places of interest to visit than time available. Not the easiest place to find, but with extra help from the owners finally got there !. Enjoyed the challenges posed by the minor roads in the area which provided interesting driving experiences. Amanda and John were extremely helpful and quickly resolved any minor problems, as well as providing some thoughtful "Welcome "items. This is an excellent holiday property . Dotty and Harvey.

Only negatives are as someone else had previously pointed out the black swivel chair is so noisy and only other issue we had we cooked a pizza and wedges one night and soon as u open the oven door smoke alarm goes off our dog was scared of alarm kept running off after opening front door to clear the smoke which took quite a while for alarm to stop which I must admit was a bit annoying other than that a fantastic place for a really relaxing holiday
