  • "The cottage is in a great location for exploring Swaledale."

Carol the host was very friendly and informative. Although we couldn’t let our dog off the lead in the garden as it wasn’t enclosed and it was lambing season this didn’t matter as all the walks we picked around the area had plenty of open fields for our Cocker Spaniel to let of some steam. The bed was extremely comfortable and the cottage had everything needed to make our 7 day stay very enjoyable. Coming back to the cottage after full days walking and putting on the log burner was so homely but to wake up every morning to the beautiful view of Swaledale we really didn’t want our 7 day stay to end. We only had a drink in the local pub but the staff seamed friendly. The Dales Bike Centre just through Reeth do a lovely coffee and cake. We walked from Keld to Tan Hill and highly recommend the warm welcome and good food here. In a nutshell a great holiday.

Family of 4 and a dog stayed for a week in April. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed and was beautifully presented. Weather was changeable but the cottage was adaptable to all conditions, cosy fires or sitting on the patio in the sun, taking in the stunning views. Carol and family were a pleasure to meet, and made us feel so welcome. Friendly, helpful and not intrusive, exactly what we wanted. Perfect week for us. Thanks so much (And we got to see the lambs!)

It was a real bonus having a full size fridge freezer. The kitchen provided all we needed to provide a home from home Christmas dinner - even champagne flutes. Having walks right out the front door and a very friendly pub that serves excellent food was also a big plus for us. It was perfect for the 2 of us and our Labrador. Our son & daughter in law came and stayed for a few nights and we all coped very well. We will definitely return later in the year to hopefully make use of the garden abd enjoy the spectacular views.

  • "The cottage was lovely."

The views from the garden exceptional. There was a problem with the water supply meaning that there was a high pitched, loud squealing noise whenever hot water was run (including when having a shower). This is an ongoing issue as we were informed on our 'key collection' message the day before arriving. Running a cold tap slowly elsewhere in the house at the same time sometimes reduced or eliminated the noise. Without this issue I'd definitely recommend the cottage. With it I would probably not which is really sad as the cottage and owners were lovely.

Owner was very helpful & friendly. Beautiful garden & stunning views. Fabulous walking choices from the door. There were a couple of items that were not as clean as they should have been and the lounge had a very strong odour of dogs. However, overall we had a lovely holiday. Not impressed with Sykes management of my account and ignoring my many emails. I waited a year to recieve my refund & to get it eventually, I had to call & was left holding for 40 minutes. Therefore it is doubtful I will book with Sykes again.

  • "We had a lovely holiday, the cottage was very well equipped , not to mention that the location was just superb."

The owner was very friendly and always happy to help - our kids even got to feed the lambs ! The only thing that could have been made clearer was that the garden was open , therefore 'shared' with next door neighbours and dogs. While the patio set was nice, the table (coffee table style) wasn't really handy for us as we couldn't have breakfast or diner outside. We had a great weather that week so really would have love to eat out in the garden. This said, the cottage was well equipped and very clean.

A hillside scattering of traditional farms and cottages make up the pretty village of Low Row situated to the north of the River Swale. A delightful area with magnificent countryside and stunning views of the valley and surrounding fells. The village of Reeth just a short drive away dates back to Saxon times and became of sufficient size and importance to be mentioned in the Domesday Book. Later it became a centre for hand-knitting and local lead mining. Its eighteenth-century houses and hotel clustered around the triangular village green make it one of the very popular Dales villages. Askrigg better known to millions as Darrowby in TV's James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small" is just a short drive away as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft).
