  • "The cottage was excellent."

Very clean and everything we needed. The bottle of wine and fruit cake on arrival were a lovely surprise and the cake was delicious, thank you. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. We have already recommended it to friends and family.

  • "A really lovely cottage but a bit too isolated for us."

A good 20 mins walk to the village's only pub which didn't meet our expectations so only used it the 1st night. The cottage though is peace itself with its resident Robin and squirrel. Very little noise from the adjoining farm.

  • "Lovely cottage, much more spacious than expected."

Spotlessly clean, very comfortable furnishings and beds, couldn't fault it really! Large garden and peaceful surroundings, the kids loved the nearby horses and chickens! Good location for visiting surrounding areas, loved dipping our feet in the water at Richmond Falls on a beautiful day. Highly recommend.

The photos don't actually do the cottage and location justice. Also, the fixtures and fittings are first class. Will definitely return some time soon.

  • "Summer Farm Cottage exceeded all our expectations."

A stunning cottage, in a superb location. Very welcoming, and well equipped with everything we needed and more. The photographs really didn't do it justice. The lovely garden was completely enclosed and very private. The hosts were right next door, and evident around the farm, without imposing. They were available by phone should we have needed them. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage, although a bit cold in the lounge as not many radiators."

It was a cold very cold outside at the time though. Owners very friendly and put up a Christmas tree for us and left some Christmas goodies, which was a lovely surprise. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had all that we needed.

  • "The cottage is just lovely."

Inside has everything you need and more. Outside is the perfect garden and lovely views. The horses, cows and sheep just added to the holiday, it was peaceful and out the way enough to be quiet but close enough to towns and the local park. Would 100% go back. Best cottage we have stayed in in the Yorkshire Dales.

  • "The holiday cottage, owner and location were excellent."

My only negative comment to make is about the day I rang your (Sykes) office to check availability and price and to potentially book the property. It was available for my dates and I was expecting the price to be confirmed as described on the web site = £293. However I was told it was now £299 ! I queried this and was told it was because I was booking it on the phone. So now booking it on the phone costs £6.00 extra - that's a neat trick you don't mention when advising which buttons to press on the phone or as far as I can see on your website or terms and conditions either. I have booked on the phone with your company in the past without this extra cost being added - it used to be a simple thing to do without challenging the extras. You already take a booking fee and thats when I book online myself. I suggested to the agent that I might as well stop the call and go and book it online - for the advertised price. At that point she said she might be able to waive the £6.00 charge - so I agreed to continue with the £293 price. This activity sounds a bit underhand to me - I don't know (yet) of any other holiday company that charges extra for ringing up.... and hopefully in future you wont either.

  • "A lovely peaceful cottage in a great location for visiting Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors."

This cottage is very clean and very comfortable. A very small negative for us stopping for two weeks, no washing machine in the kitchen, so had to hand wash items when getting muddy on walks in the area. The garden was lovely in the evenings to be able to sit outside and watch the sun set. Lovely fresh flowers on arrival and the owner available if you have any issues but not intrusive. Home made cake and wine on arrival as well made us feel really welcome. Will definitely be returning to this cottage.

It is in a very quiet location but very easily accessible to most of North Yorkshire. We hope to return at some time in the future.

It is in a great location, very handy to lots of interesting places. Our only niggling complaint was the lack of some basic cleaning materials such as washing up liquid and such like. We ate out a lot and as there was just the two of us we prefer to wash up as we go along and not use a dishwasher. We enjoyed our stay there and would return at some point in the future.
