  • "This is a lovely little flat in a fantastic location."

Very clean. The downside for us, as we were there in very hot weather, was the lack of a freezer section in the fridge.

  • ""The Little Flat" What can I say?"

This exceptional, immaculate and peaceful holiday cottage exceeded our expectations. We had everything we needed for our stay. It was decorated to a high standard, the huge bed was very comfortable, the welcome pack was a lovely touch with treats for our old dog ... even the dogs water bowl had her name on it!! The accommodation was well situated in the heart of Barnard Castle with plenty of wonderful walks on the doorstep. We hardly used the car!! The week went so fast and we would happily stay there again. Thank you so much Mel. Best wishes. Audrey and Phil.

  • "Absolutely perfect for a single person or couple."

Lovely, modern and tastefully decorated. Clean with everything two people would need. The welcome pack was a bonus, with the best tasting bread I’ve tasted. During our stay we reported the light in the close wasn’t working and that was fixed the following day. The only slight issue we had was that the stairs up to the flat from the front door are very steep and our elderly dog couldn’t manage them at the end of a day and had to be carried up.

Really clean and comfortable flat with everything we needed and more. We had a great time and could have stayed longer, we would definitely recommend “The Little Flat” and “Barny” and will hopefully stay again soon!

The location is great and the flat itself is very comfortable, clean and quiet. Any queries I had were quickly answered and I would not hesitate to recommend it for a break in the Dales.

  • "Lovely flat in a great location."

A little surprised it didn’t have a microwave but didn’t really matter to us. A lovely welcome hamper was left by the owners which was much appreciated Directions to flat were only given as coming in from the west. Would have been helpful to have also had directions from east as took us several miles out of our way in trying to connect with the instructions. All in all a great holiday and we would definitely go back.

Thankfully we was contacted by the owners who advised of two hour duration to park free almost directly outside the flat.

  • "I found the Little Flat very clean and comfortable."

Right in the centre of the town. Surprisingly it was really quiet and peaceful, with its location. The owners provide everything you would need for your stay ( ie foil, cling film, batteries). I was offered an arrival hamper, this I thought was a very kind gesture. Highly recommended. Thank you.

  • "We recently stayed in the Little Flat."

We had booked the flat for 4 Nights commencing 14th September 2020. We found the flat itself very clean, tidy and cosy. It is tastefully furnished and of a high standard. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night as we found the flat totally unsuitable if you have mobility problems. My wife and I both use walking sticks and whilst noticing the comment about steps up to and within the flat. We did not expect the steps to be so high or steep in the central area. Because of this, my wife slept in one of the armchairs for the night, and I struggled to move from the lounge area to the bedroom. We were so disappointed as we were looking forward to our stay and this was the first time we used Sykes Cottages. I do think that it should be made clear in the information for The Little Flat that it may be unsuitable for people with mobility issues.

  • "Words are not adequate to describe this property."

It was simply perfect for our needs as an elderly but still lively (I hope!) couple. Luxury, comfort and style in abundance. And so central to enjoy the pleasures of a fascinating little town and it's surrounds. Excellent practical arrangements were provided by Sykes Cottages and the owner.

  • "Great little flat, 1 minute away from marketplace yet totally quiet and secluded."

Cosy and clean with a very large comfy bed. Though the flat was compact the lounge and bedroom were a good size. Smashing area to explore - lovely market town yet beautiful countryside on doorstep. Only downside for us was the yard outside was not a tempting place to sit and for those it matters to there was no microwave nor freezer/ icebox. All in all though we'd go again and can recommend.

  • "The little flat was very comfortable, the facilities were excellent."

However our visit coincided with extremely hot weather. We found that the fridge struggled to keep our food fresh and we would suggest that the owners add a fridge freezer compartment in the future. We were also surprised to find no microwave. We would not hesitate to book the !little flat again due to it's excellent location in a lovely town.

We are very pleased that you found The Little Flat comfortable with excellent facilities and wouldn't hesitate to book again - we wish you had contacted us during your stay and we would have adjusted the fridge to a colder setting for you. The fridge is less than 2 years old with a high efficiency rating and 7 settings, the coldest of which actually freezes delicate items. The property details do not list a microwave at the property. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

Just big enough for two, with a large bedroom, nice modern shower/toilet room, and cost lounge/dining/kitchen room. Tucked away up an alley you wouldn't know existed, but then straight out onto the high street, so perfect access for the lovely market town and all its joys. The flat was clean and in great condition, with a nice touch of a small food hamper on our arrival. Free parking in the nearby car park via a permit for the car. Fast wifi, Netflix and amazon, plus lots of dvd's, games and guides provided. Most definitely will go again. You must visit Bowes Museum, such a great place. Half hour to Richmond or Durham.

  • "Terrific little flat, ideal for a couple and one dog (anymore would be a little cramped)."

The flat is ideally situated just off the High Street and has adequate facilities. The welcome hamper was a nice touch, as was the free parking voucher for the duration of our stay. The flat is accessed by a steep but short flight of stairs which might not suit everyone but was fine for us. Mel (the owner) was very informative about any questions we asked about the area- dog walks/places to eat/drink etc. Entry instructions via the key safe were very clear and convenient. Overall a very nice "little flat" with added bonus of use of the amazon firestick and WiFi. We would definitely return.
