  • “Struggled to find the cottage initially, due to address being Ripley and it's actually in Bedlam a village a mile down the road.”

...but got there eventually and it was well worth it. Lovely cottage , ideal for a couple and a dog. My wife read some of the reviews ( complaints) and we can't understand the pettiness of some people. My only concern.... the need for a smaller wooden spoon! Great property, close to local facilities and the dales for touring too. Will definitely rebook.

The property

Ripley 1 mile.

An attractive mid-terrace, stone-built cottage situated in lovely rolling countryside, in the hamlet of Bedlam, just one mile from Ripley and four miles from Harrogate.

Warm and inviting, this cottage provides a perfect base for touring this beautiful area.

Well presented throughout, there is a cosy sitting room, a modern well-equipped kitchen, a modern shower room with a multi-jet shower, a lovely double bedroom and a dressing room.

Outside is a spacious front and rear garden area and patio, which is a delightful spot to sit with a coffee in the sunshine.

A short drive away is the ancient market town of Knaresborough, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

The town is very popular with visitors to the area as it overlooks the River Nidd and is considered one of the prettiest towns in North Yorkshire.

There are many day trips on offer in the area, with some well worth a visit including, The House in the Rock, Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe in England, dating back to 1720, the Courthouse Museum and Mother Shipton's Cave.

A wonderful cottage at any time of year.

About the location

RIPLEY

Harrogate 4 miles.

The village of Ripley in Lower Nidderdale, situated on the leeward side of the Yorkshire Dales, was designed and built, by Sir William Amcotts Ingleby in the 1830's. Sir William was so inspired by a model estate village he saw on a visit to France, that he came home and demolished the existing buildings in Ripley, beginning again from scratch to a classic French design. Today, the village is small and unspoilt and boasts a beautiful Castle in the centre (still home to the Ingleby family) with extensive gardens open to the public which include waterfalls, bridges and a lake. Deer graze in the grounds and there is a shop and tea-rooms within the Castle. The village has a large cobbled market place in the centre, overlooked by the Boar's Head - an old coaching inn which offers an excellent restaurant, bar and bistro. There is a village store and ice cream parlour where visitors can enjoy the very popular Ripley ice cream, along with a butcher’s, art gallery and much more.
