"Dogs review."
Ours mam's booked holly tree cottage as we had 2 of our dog friend's staying with Which made us a pack of 6 . As you can imagine trying to find some wear was hard for our mam's . Holly tree cottage Sits in a large amount of land which is shared with Jenny,Pete and Lucy there dog who is very friendly and came and said hello to us . We really enjoyed the amount of space that we had as we could run , play, sniff .our Grey hound friends loved it as they could have the zoomies with out running out of space . The fence around the field has wire on it to prevent small dogs getting out so our mam's didn't have to worry . One of the grey hounds decided that she enjoyed walking around there house as apparently the large amount of land was not good enough!. Lucky they have big electric gates so she couldn't get out on to the road. Our mam's always checked the gates Were closed before they let us out.As obviously the owners need to open them to get there cars out .on the X2 occasions they forgot to shut it out mam just text them and it was shut straight away. .holly tree cottage Was nice and spacious for us. There is one double bed and one settee bed . Our mam's used both as we like to be able to share our mams and stretch our paws out whilst we sleep on our 6 beds .mam said it probably one of the comfortable settee beds she has slept on . Humans review . Because holly tree cottage sits in a large amount of land the grass directly out side the cottage is not fenced in (the rest of the property is secure) so when letting them out in the night for toilet we put leads on them just so we knew where they were . The week we were there all 6 dogs loved the space . The kitchen is more than adequate It does not have an oven but it dose have a hob and microwave oven with grill with an instruction book on how to use . We were able to cook nice crispy chips, burgers and roast veg although it dose take longer than normal we were there for a week and managed fine. The internet was fine for us and were able to watch netflix and the one problem we had was out of Pete'scontrol as water had got in to the box but he came straight away to sort it and it worked again . Northallerton is at the heart of farming land so we smelt fresh air but also occasionally the natural farm smell pig poop and cow poop .if your not used to it then it may smell like drains, but one of my very happy childhood memorys hoildaying on my auntie's farm in Northallerton. The smell was the same then as it now .Jenny and pete Are brilliant with any problems or questions we had they answered straight away. Would definitely come again when we look after the other dogs again.

"Had a good relaxing week, with plenty to do around the area."
The field was enclosed which enabled the dogs to run free.

"Holly tree cottage was the perfect place for us to stay during our trip to North Yorkshire, it was comfortable, warm, safe and secure and the accommodation is as described on the website."
The owners were friendly and we had the most wonderful bonus of the safe field for our dogs to run around in. We would likely use it again if we were back in the area.

"The cottage was spacious and the hosts were very welcoming but not intrusive."
Unfortunately we found the shower cubicle dark and small, especially for someone with height. The enclosed grounds were excellent for the dogs but it needs to be specified that they are shared with the owners and need to be aware that the gates are therefore opening and closing variable times. A conventional oven would have been nice as unfortunately I missed the fact it was a microwave/combi when reading the details, so my mistake.

"The cottage itself is absolutely fine, very comfortable with everything needed."
The field is brilliant for exercising dogs however the listing doesn't make it clear that all the outside space is shared. This became an issue once during our stay when I let one of the dogs out not realising that the gates at the main house had been left open and he got out on to the road. Luckily it's a quiet road but still a bit of a panic until I got him back.

"Worst smell ever - it stunk."
The owner said it was a nearby pig farm - the smell was inside not outside. The description of the fold out bed as being plush redefines the meaning of plush as beaten up and faded. The much vaunted internet speed of 100mbps achieved 3.4mbps on a speed check. The description of the inside of the premises bore no relation to the reality. I realise the negativity of this response and don't expect it will be published xx

Where you’ll be staying
NORTHALLERTON
Thirsk 9 miles.
Northallerton is a County town and administrative centre of North Yorkshire, located at the foot of a ridge dividing two river basin areas, the Wiske and the Cod Beck, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the Vale of York, between the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire Dales. This thriving town boasts market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when both sides of the High Street are home to stalls selling a wide range of goods and produce, plus on the fourth Wednesday of the month the market is joined by a farmers' market. Despite its modest size, Northallerton has a number of independent and national shops, including Betty’s Tea Rooms, Lewis & Cooper, an outstanding delicatessan and wine merchant, award-winning butcher’s, artisan baker, greengrocers, two department stores, several supermarkets and bookshops. With good rail links to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Durham and York, the activities are not just restricted to the countryside. Situated equidistant between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, the opportunities for exploration are endless. These include a day at the races at one of the many local courses, including Thirsk, a family trip to the unique Forbidden Corner at Middleham, a trip to a country house such as Newby Hall, Kiplin Hall and Castle Howard, or a round of golf. The restored Victorian resort of Saltburn, plus the pretty beaches and coves of Runswick Bay, Sand's End and Robin Hood's Bay, along with the town of Whitby, are all within one hour's drive away.
