    “An absolute gem!”

We are so glad we found this fabulous cottage. It's spotlessly clean, super comfortable, warm, spacious, extremely well equipped, right opposite a free car park and close to a friendly pub. The lovely attentive host, Clover, left lots of thoughtful treats for us including our favourite vegan oat milk and she responded really quickly to texts. Lovely big shower which was easy to operate with plenty of fluffy towels and well placed hooks, and the bathroom had surface and cupboard space for toiletries, something other cottages don't always accommodate. The cottage is perfectly placed for visiting the villages of Burnsall, Grassington, Linton, Kettlewell, Starbottom, Appletreewick, Bolton Abbey and the beautiful walks and cycling around them. It's a short drive to Skipton too. As a birdwatcher I was delighted to see sand martins and dippers as well as skylarks and curlew and a host of other birds in the area. It was also easy to get to Ingleton and the fabulous Falls Walk - highly recommended. A week in the Dales flew by and we'll definitely be back!

The property

Settled in the village of Embsay on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is this wonderful stone, mid-terrace cottage, ideal for those seeking outdoor adventures.

Just under two miles from Skipton, Crag View Cottage is a great base for touring the area, with historic places, vintage steam railways and castles to explore.

Step through the front door and find yourself in the homely sitting room where a woodburning stove takes centre stage in the fireplace, with a Smart TV and two sofas allowing you to unwind into your evening.

Head through to the spacious kitchen/diner, decorated in a classic, country style, with an electric AGA range cooker for you to rustle up delicious meals with to be served around the dining table.

Head up the stairs to find two lovely bedrooms, with the master room home to a king-size bed, a dressing table and boasting beautiful views of Embsay Crag from the window.

The smaller second room contains a double bed (accessed from one side), a small desk, desk lamp and chair, with views to the rear of the property.

Serving both rooms is the sleek shower room with a walk-in shower, basin and WC, as well as a heated towel rail to keep you warm.

Completing the property is the charming enclosed courtyard where seating allows you to enjoy the fresh air, perfect for sitting with a morning coffee while your canine companion stretches their legs.

Just across the road from the cottage is the village pub, Elm Tree Inn, perfect to have on your doorstep for evening drinks or afternoon treats post-walk, with the Embsay village shop just further down the road offering all the essentials you need.

Don't miss a trip on Embsay's main attraction, the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway taking you through the picturesque Yorkshire countryside on a vintage steam train, with special extras you can book like afternoon tea or even gin tastings, before arriving at Bolton Abbey where you can alight from the train and embark on a walk up to the historic Bolton Priory, with the choice to extend the walk up to The Strid for more beautiful scenery.

The town of Skipton is just under two miles from the cottage and boasts a wider selection of shops, pubs and restaurants to visit, along with being the home of Skipton Castle, an almost intact medieval castle with a dungeon, kitchen and bedchamber, and Craven Museum & Gallery.

Venture into the Dales to attractions like Parcevall Hall Gardens spanning 24 acres, Stump Cross Caverns and the fascinating Malham Cove with this uncommon geological formation consisting of a limestone amphitheatre, waterfall and stunning valley views.

Enjoy a lovely self-catered stay in North Yorkshire at Crag View Cottage.
