“Considering the cottage sleeps 5 there are only seats for 4 people in the lounge.”

There are no other chairs in the cottage to add to the lounge! The only toilet is in a tiny room with a narrow sliding door with no lock. Also in there is a small shower cubicle and small sink. Half the grout in the floor tiles is missing. The window is clear glass looking out onto the road! The photos make the house look bigger for example with the kitchen table set. In order to eat round it you have to pull it out from the wall and once seated on the hard wooden benches nobody can get in or out without disturbing the person next to them. You have to pay for parking in whatever car park you manage to get into. It is £5 for a day and overnight stay. The cottage was clean and there was bread, milk, butter, wine, biscuits, truffles etc which was very nice to arrive to. The wifi is provided by a cellular dongle which is intermittent and when it does work it is very low speed (we measured 3Mbps). Overall, the cottage is very well situated, and charming, but oversold for what it is.

About the location

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
