"The cottage was comfortable and had a good kitchen and bed was really comfortable."

On the downside, the heater didn't work in the bedroom, the bathroom needs maintenance, seal has come away from the bath and the bath panel was hanging off, also the rim of the toilet hadn't been cleaned for god knows how long. It states TV has sky channels, it doesn't, only freeview, however you could not receive thse as signal was too week, so you basically can view the basic channels, BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. The outside patio area was a disgrace, it was filthy and the furniture needed replacing, there was no way you could sit out in the patio area. To summarise, comfortable enough but attention to detail is needed in respect of maintenance, some of the points I have raised have also been mentioned in other reviews, so it is disappointing that the owners have not taken onboard the feedback previously given.

"We stayed in this cottage as it was close to the Crematorium."

We had a family funeral to attend. The cottage itself is very dated in terms of furniture and bedding. There are signs of certain modernisation but the room next to the bathroom is extremely worrying due to the amount of wiring and plugs. The outside area is very neglected. The front wasn’t even swept from fallen moss and foliage. The patio area was a disgrace. This cottage was reasonable priced but we certainly would not recommend it for a holiday.

"In general a lovely place to stay for us Was small, but had everything we needed."

Unfortunately, the sky and smart TV listed in description, was found not to be there, maybe owners have not updated their description (?).This was dealt with by Sykes, but took too long for an amicable settlement. I not only messaged Sykes, but had to ring them twice too. I have used them several times, this is the first time I have had to complain.

    "A little difficult to find."

Your satnav will take you into a cul-de-sac. Follow the instructions you've been sent to the letter. The apartment is clean and comfortable. Heating is perfect: the thermostat is very efficient. Powerful shower. The bed is firm and comfortable will cool, crisp bed linen. The kitchen is well-equipped. A few gripes which slightly impaired my stay. There is no Sky TV as advertised. Apart from the first freeview channels reception is wobbly and for the last two days the set would not switch on at all. W-fi is intermittent. I had to use my phone as a hotspot and therefore ad to pay for data use. The oven doesn't work. The control knob came off in my hand and inside there were a pair of dirty baking trays. There were only three coathangers.

"The cottage was clean and well equipped."

However, there are two problems with the description of Bronte Cottage. 1. The description of facilities said there is Wi-Fi. There is no Wi-Fi. Had I known that I would not have booked. I would like a partial refund for the inconvenience that caused me. 2. The “patio and garden” was also untrue. There was a dirty and crumbling concreted area behind the cottage accessed by a path around the adjacent property and by steps. The 2 seats and the table were in a very poor state as was the fence around the area. I suspect that if someone leant against the fence they would find themselves quickly fallen 10 feet or more to the field below!

    "Booked for 7 days , left after 3 ."

Smells of damp from a leak in cupboard housing washing machine and electrics. No smart TV/ sky, garden, patio or outside furniture which were all in the advertisement for this cottage. Internet intermittent with no connection most of the time. Shower seal disgusting and needs replacement. Baking tins only fit for the dustbin. The bathroom needs a deep clean. The advert is completely misleading. I will be making a formal complaint with copies to Yorkshire tourist board. I would advise anyone to book elsewhere.

"Nice cottage but facilities listed not accurate, no smart TV no sky just the box used as aerial for FreeView TV and no patio furniture."

Small general maintenance required . This wasn't enough to spoil the holiday but some TLC needed to smarten the cottage up

OAKWORTH

Haworth 1 mile; Skipton 10 miles.

Oakworth is a small Pennine village just a short drive from Haworth, overlooking the Worth Valley, made famous by the filming of the classic 1970 film version of E.E. Nesbitt's novel, The Railway Children. Besides its close proximity to Haworth and the moors, Oakworth has an attractive ornamental park, and is within easy reach of the town of Keighley. Nearby Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were much-inspired by the surrounding moorland. Haworth has a myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, and all this against a backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights. Nearby, the famous Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, makes a lovely day out, with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area is full of popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail. The market town of Skipton, Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate, and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
