  • "We enjoyed our stay at this spacious secluded cottage on the outskirts of Bewerley."

The beds were some the most comfortable we have found in Sykes cottages. Indeed we regret we had not investigated their manufacture further before leaving to perhaps replace those at home. There was plenty of room with a large kitchen / diner and a very spacious bathroom. The sizeable utility room was an added bonus We found the cottage very convenient for nearby Pateley Bridge and its annual Nidderdale show. We enjoyed our walks from the doorstep as well as exploring the upper reaches of the lovely quiet Nidderdale valley and beyond. What could have enhanced our thoroughly enjoyable stay in this cottage further ?:- We would have appreciated further instructions on operating the central heating and heated bathroom floor to get the best out of them. The lounge sofa was not so comfortable and would have been a bit restrictive if 4 people wanted to enjoy the tv. We found the shower control awkward when trying to use it with wet hands. Whilst the steep driveway’s surface had been enhanced recently, we found it could still be slippery in certain conditions. As the evenings were drawing in we believe the cottage would have benefitted from some enhancements to the lighting with perhaps better illumination of the kitchen worktops , higher bedside lamps for reading and a night light on the corridor between the bathroom and bedroom doors. We were surprised to find no washing up bowl in the kitchen or utility sink. We would seriously consider booking it again when we next want to visit the area.

  • "Paradise Cottage is based in a stunning location, and is furnished to a very high standard."

The cottage is spacious with the added bonus of a utility room to store your walking boots etc. There are numerous walks you can do direct from the cottage without having to take out the car. The beds are really comfy with the added bonus of falling asleep listening to the beck. Bewerley & Pateley Bridge are both delightful with plenty of places to eat. We cannot fault the cottage and will definitely return. The owners were quick to respond to our questions before our visit also.

  • "Clean, bright and well equipped cottage."

A good location for walking. Very quiet. Everything was as described and we were pleased to have the freezer. The drive (steeper than it looks on Google Streetview) had just been tarmacked and had a top dressing of very fine chippings which did make it a challenge when we arrived, and there is now a gate across the bottom (which we kept open for the whole week). No real problems going up if you get into first gear before getting on to the drive and take it slowly! We definitely recommend the cottage.

  • "A beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings."

The drive access is tricky due to the type of surface & steepness & the road approach is narrow & also steep so care is required. Well appointed, very comfortable bed/bedding, most essential kitchen items present but a teapot & smaller fry pan, tongs wine stopper would be useful. Really cosy in the lounge especially with log burner lit. Lovely woodland walks from the door, easy route via road or more energetic by countryside to Pateley Bridge with access to shops, pubs, restaurants. Local history & plenty of surrounding areas within the dales close by. Had a great stay thank you.

Thanks for the feedback. The driveway has now been entirely resurfaced. Property Owner

Great surroundings with a short walk to the village and lots of other walks close by. We did struggle a little getting up the drive but that won’t stop us coming back. Great place to stay

  • "My Mum and I had such a lovely week at Paradise Cottage!"

It just felt like home and we didn’t want to leave! So peaceful and tranquil especially when sat out in the garden with the trees and stream close by! Beautifully done inside too! I can confirm there is now a freezer, coffee table and iron now! The access road, as others have said, was a bit tricky, but I managed to get up in my estate car. The owners are working on getting it sorted out though. It won’t stop me from going back however!

  • "The cottage is well situated in a pleasant location and overall we enjoyed our stay, however there were some things that need attention."

The entrance to the cottage is not just steep, as was warned in the listing, but it is also unsurfaced! Which meant our vehicle which is an SUV, was scattering and slipping on the hardcore all the way up. This could easily be remedied by surfacing the hill with either tarmac or concrete. This needs doing as a matter of urgency. In the cottage we were disappointed to find there was no freezer, even the fridge did not have a freezer compartment. Also we could not find an Iron or ironing board anywhere. these are small things which would be easily remedied, and they would have made our stay so much more enjoyable. Finally the hot water system does need attention. Each morning upstairs we seemed to have to have difficulty getting the hot water to come out out of the tap! If these problems are addressed we would be happy to come back.

Thank you for the constructive feedback. We have ordered a freezer and iron / ironing board for the cottage which will be installed by the end of May. The hot water is fed from a spring and is heated on demand so it can take a couple of minutes for hot water to come through if it has not been used for a few hours; this can be sped up by running the tap whilst waiting for the shower! We had tried to make this clear on the instructions at the cottage, but will amend the instructions to clarify. The drive is unfinished, but we have never had problems getting up in our cars. However, we will review when we are there at the end of May and speak to our builder about resurfacing. Thanks again. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage, in stunning convenient location, very tastefully renovated and furnished."

The bed linen, towels and beds are exceptional, and the property warm and comfortable. Overall great experience, A couple of things were therefore a surprise, no coffee table in the lounge, no dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll or J cloth ( there was a sponge) and the drive way is quite tricky due to the loose clippings and quite steep incline. Not an issue for us and probably due to time of year, but an open fire was a feature and no fuel provided. Sorry if these sound picky, but just surprising in such a thoughtfully presented property Thank you

Thank you, Diana, for the helpful feedback. Kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets and cloths should have been there and we have spoken to the team responsible to ensure they are in future - sorry they were not when you visited. We hadn't put a coffee table in the lounge as we didn't want to clutter the space, but have looked and found something suitable which will be added in late May. All the best. Property Owner
