  • "A really comfortable cottage."

The facilities were excellent. A place that you could feel at home in and we enjoyed our stay. Loved the daily visits to the bird feeder by the Woodpecker and the nightly flying and hunting by the resident Barn Owls. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a quite and peaceful holiday stay but still close enough to shops and roads for visiting the surrounding area.

  • "Had a fabulous week at Ash Bank."

Claire (the owner) met us to show how the gate worked, how to light the wood fired hot tub, to tell us a bit about the area and answer any questions and then gave us her mobile number in case of any questions or problems and then left us to it. The barn was extremely comfortable and homely and everything was in pristine condition. Ash Bank is attached to another property and I wondered if we would hear the neighbours but we didn't hear them at all and only saw them once as they drove past one morning so it is very private. The views from the property are stunning and there's so much to see and do in the area, highlights included, Malham Cove, Bolton Abbey, Brimham Rocks, Grassington, tea at Betty's Tea Rooms and a visit to a brilliant independent cinema in Ilkley. There are also numerous inviting pubs in the area too and the pizza takeaway at the local Italian in Silsden was excellent (couldn't get a table at the restaurant as it was fully booked for the night we wanted mid-week!). I really couldn't fault Ash Bank, we had a wonderful weeks holiday and would definitely recommend.

  • "Good morning Steve and Claire, Touching base with you to express mine and Karen's thoughts."

Karen summed up your property in one word. A holiday home that has ability for the mind to do "cart wheels" as it has a 5* feeling. You both have put much thought into EVERY DETAIL to make our holiday a breeze from the advanced holiday info / instructions via emails to present day. Cottage is super quiet, with nice privacy and no noise intrusion from neighbours. Even the air quality around your estate is refreshing / invigorating aids my inherent restricted lung capacity disability. Cottage has very high water quality / strong & stable water pressure is evident, mesmerising day time views as well as night time star gazing and the list goes on ...!!! The wifi strength & distance is perfect reaches jacuzzi area easily. The jacuzzi is very relaxing and aids deep sleep. I am inspired by your building style, home gadgets and like the durability of decor you chosen. The guest home manual/ maps you collated has all information required. THANK YOU for the staycation. Kind regards Tony & Karen

  • "Ash Bank Jacobs Barn - Silsden, Yorkshire Host Claire did everything and more to make sure we were settled had everything we needed for our stay."

We spoke with her before our visit for her to ask if there was anything we needed before we arrived and arrange our check in time, and as this trip was booked for our Mini-moon she even decorated the barn for our arrival which was lovely and very unexpected. We arrived with the hot tub already warmed and ready to go and she showed us the facilities and made suggestions on local places to visit plus a really helpful folder with all the information inside. If there was anything we needed she was only a text message away which was much appreciated. Location The cottage can be found near the village of Silsden, Keighley. The barn is slightly out the village but is very peaceful and quiet. There are plenty of local shops (Asda, Aldi, Coop, Tesco extra) as well as local eateries including Busfeild Arms pub and the amazing Italian Stefanos (definitely phone up and get booked into this place for your stay). Easy travel to other places in Yorkshire including train to Leeds from Keighley train station (for great food and shopping, if you like Japanese there is a new restaurant called Blue Sukura which comes highly recommended also). There are lots of local walks, one of which was the nicest walk straight from the barn which takes you past lots of waterfalls and over the farmers fields. Beautiful views from the barn and chance to see the stars at night. Facilities The barn has been decorated beautifully and is very modern inside with all sorts of amenities you would need including oven microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer etc and including smaller things that you would usually forget to bring with you like tea towel, or washing tablets. Outside facilities of course the best being the wood fired hot tub which once shown how if you’re a first timer was easy to use and keep warm. Lots of outside furniture and the choice of using a BBQ which in the summer would get lots of use. Overall we would highly recommend this Barn Cottage for a brilliant U.K. holiday. Perfect for couples/friends. We have suggested this place since our visit to many people and would definitely return for another relaxing staycation.

The property was very clean, had all facilities you would expect. Hot tub was great the local area provides everything you may need from shops to take aways and pubs. The accommodation was lovely. Everything you can think of, was provided and included a number of personal touches. The views from the property are beautiful and there were plenty of walks/trails within walking distance and in the local area. Property owners left us to it but made sure we knew they were there if needed. Husband thought the WiFi connection was a bit hit and miss but all in all, we both had a great experience and would definitely use again.

There was ample wood for both the log burner and the wood fired hot tub and Claire and Steve were fabulous hosts, checking in with us mid week to ensure we weren’t running low. The location of the property was perfect for exploring the Dales and the setting was beautiful-quiet location with fantastic views and great walks on your front door step. The hot tub was a treat and very easy to use being a wood fired version. The location is perfect as it is on their farm so the views and surroundings are lovely and very peaceful. It is also very quick to get to Skipton or Ilkley, both of which are definitely worth a visit and are roughly 20 minutes drive from Ash Barn. The welcome pack of milk, butter, biscuits and homemade bread, as well as tea, coffee, condiments and Prosecco was very welcoming. The information pack in the cottage told us all we needed to know and the recommendations of local eating places and shops was really helpful. We had guests join us for a couple of days during the week, which we had asked Claire about before hand and she said it was no problem and made up the second bedroom as a double before we arrived. Then there are Pheasants and Hares who saunter along the footpath just outside your cottage, the owners told us that the pheasants love to be feed and will actually come quite close to you. The hot tub is great you just lay and relax during the day and watch the scenery and listen and watch the birds soar in the sky what more can you ask for and at night time you can sit in the Hot Tub and relax and look up at the stars and listen to all the different wildlife. My husband and I were so impressed with our stay at the cottage that we booked it again for next year and also extended our stay in the adjoining cottage which is also FAB_U_LOUS. About the location

SILSDEN

Bolton Abbey 8.5 miles; Ilkley 8.5 miles; Skipton 9 miles.

The pretty town of Silsden, set on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park, commands sweeping views of the River Aire and its valley, and has a thriving community with local amenities. Although Silsden was originally an agricultural town, the construction of the nearby Leeds and Liverpool Canal meant that it later became an important centre for the mill industry, however the local economy is now largely supported by tourism, and it has become a perfect place to stay and explore the local area. Down the Aire Valley lies historic Skipton, known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, a quaint market town boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2008, the Academy of Urbanism voted the high street as the best shopping spot in Britain. In the next valley lies Addingham, a thriving, small community with several good pubs serving fine ale and excellent food, a scattering of small shops and a delightful golf course surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the Strid is a must. The Victorian Spa town of Ilkley is also worth a visit, with its wide streets, world-famous Box Tree Restaurant and Bettys Tea Rooms, while Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”. With steam railways offering regular excursions through stunning scenery, canal day trips, castles and pretty market towns all available nearby, Silsden is a wonderful base for touring the Bronte Country and North and West Yorkshire.
