The property

Salcombe, a charming coastal town in Devon, sets the scene for Shipwrights, a well-appointed cottage offering a relaxing base for families and friends.

Positioned within the South Devon National Landscape and a short drive from Dartmoor National Park, this property boasts an enclosed garden and countryside views.

After arriving in the vibrant harbour town of Salcombe and pulling into the private driveway, Shipwrights greets you with its inviting façade and hints of nautical charm.

Step through the front door and into the hallway, where tiled flooring leads the way towards the kitchen, and subtle maritime touches set the tone for your coastal escape.

To the left, the sitting room offers a peaceful space to settle in.

A bay window draws in natural light, illuminating the sofa and armchairs arranged for relaxed conversation or a quiet moment with a book.

Pictures on the walls and a light, airy palette create a welcoming atmosphere, while the gas fire adds warmth on cooler evenings.

Continue through to the kitchen, where an island takes centre stage, ideal for preparing meals or gathering with a cup of tea.

The space is thoughtfully equipped to meet your self-catering needs, with everything from a coffee maker to a dishwasher, and plenty of room to cook up a storm.

A few steps lead up to the dining area, where bifold doors open to the garden beyond.

Here, a wooden table with bench seating and chairs invites you to share meals together, while a three-seater sofa offers a relaxed spot to linger after dinner.

Upstairs, the first floor is carpeted for comfort, and the walls are adorned with artwork that continues the light and breezy feel of the home.

Take care on the half landing, where a few steps guide you to the bedrooms.

The king-size room provides a restful retreat, while the bunk room offers a playful space for younger guests.

On the second floor, the twin room and double bedroom each feature a TV, and the double enjoys lovely views across countryside fields and trees, perfect for a gentle start to the day.

Two bathrooms serve the property, one with a bath and shower over, and another with a walk-in shower, offering a refreshing start or end to your day.

To the rear, the enclosed garden is a tranquil spot to enjoy the fresh sea air.

A lawn and decked area provide space to relax outdoors, whether you're enjoying a leisurely breakfast in the sunshine or watching the children play safely within the enclosed space.

A shop and pub are just a short stroll away, making it easy to pick up essentials or enjoy a meal out without venturing far.

When you're ready to explore, the surrounding South Devon National Landscape offers a patchwork of rolling hills, wooded valleys and hidden coves.

A scenic drive inland brings you to Dartmoor National Park, where wild ponies roam and granite tors rise above sweeping moorland.

For a day of discovery, head to Totnes, a characterful market town known for its independent shops, riverside walks and the imposing Norman motte-and-bailey castle that crowns the hill.

Dartmouth, with its historic harbour, cobbled streets and the striking Dartmouth Castle, offers a blend of maritime heritage and coastal charm.

Or venture to the Eden Project, where you can wander through vast biomes filled with rainforest and Mediterranean plants, explore interactive exhibits, and enjoy seasonal family-friendly events.

Whether you're seeking coastal walks, countryside rambles or simply a peaceful place to reconnect, Shipwrights offers a delightful base for your South Devon escape.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port.
