The property

Llandovery 4 miles.

West Cottage is a stunning courtyard retreat, surrounded by the rolling countryside near the peaceful village of Myddfai, Carmarthenshire.

This characterful cottage sits within the 196-acre estate of farmland and woodlands at Llwynywermod, previously the residence of King Charles when he was Prince of Wales.

Offering a unique escape for families, friends and couples seeking tranquillity and outdoor adventure, West Cottage is set around a courtyard shared with Gatekeepers Cottage and North Cottage.

West Cottage offers a rare blend of privacy and prestige.

The estate, part of the Duchy of Cornwall, carries a noble lineage, once owned by a relative of Anne Boleyn and overlooking an 18th-century country park with 40 acres of woodland.

From the moment you arrive, the setting evokes a sense of quiet grandeur, where nature and history entwine.

Inside, the cottage unfolds with understated elegance with its carefully curated interiors.

The kitchen is a charming blend of tradition and practicality, with tiled flooring, white cabinetry, wooden worktops and an exposed beam that hints at the building’s heritage.

It’s a space that invites slow mornings and hearty meals, with everything needed for self-catering comfort.

The dining room offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for gathering over shared meals or planning the day’s adventures.

Natural light filters in, casting a gentle glow across the table, while the sitting room beyond provides a tranquil space to unwind.

Here, plush blue sofas rest beneath a handsome wooden beam, and soft carpeting underfoot adds to the sense of ease and relaxation.

Ascend the stairs to find two thoughtfully presented bedrooms, offering peaceful sanctuaries for rest.

The king-size room exudes warmth, while the twin room features zip/link beds that can be transformed into a super-king-size on request.

Both are adorned with soft carpets, exposed beams and carefully chosen artwork, creating a refined yet homely feel.

The shower room is bright and refreshing, with a Velux window offering glimpses of sky.

A separate bathroom with a bath and hand-held shower provides a tranquil space to soak, while a cloakroom on the ground floor adds further convenience.

Step outside into the enclosed private garden, where the lawn invites bare feet and the patio calls for alfresco dining.

As the charcoals heat up and the evening light softens, this space becomes a haven for quiet moments and shared laughter.

Beyond the garden, the estate reveals its treasures, wildflower meadows, traditionally farmed fields, and peaceful woodland trails.

No pesticides are used here, only nature, nurtured.

Guests are welcome to explore the estate’s walled garden, complete with a conservatory and separate sun room.

Why not partake in wellness retreats that includes yoga, reiki, foraging and guided walks?

It’s a holistic haven, where the rhythm of the land encourages rest and renewal.

Just beyond the cottage, Bannau Brycheiniog National Park unfolds in a sweep of dramatic peaks, hidden waterfalls and heather-cloaked hills, inviting walkers, cyclists and nature lovers to explore its untamed beauty.

West Cottage is not simply a place to stay, it’s a place to reconnect, to breathe deeply and to experience the quiet grandeur of Carmarthenshire’s natural beauty and to share in its royal past.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £300.
