  • "We've been many times 9 we think."

A few problems this time though. A faulty boiler left us having to monitor a leak. The legal itself soaked everyone's outdoor clothes so we were a bit restricted. The team promised to check the leak and empty the bucket but did not. Add that to a rave in the cabin next door it wasn't good.

Cabins are looking a bit tired and kitchen needs to be stocked with more to be able to do family dinners. Food delivery service was delayed and we had to pick up the food.

  • "I have been going to cropton since it opened and come back every year as we love it so much."

This year was especially great as my autistic son with severe learning needs who has been coming since he was around 3 to cropton was so calm our holiday started straight away. He is now 16 so it's took a while

  • "I would recommend FH to family and friends, as I always have had a good time."

This trip in September 2023 was my 6th visit to FH. I always tend to come to Cropton as well. However, I am sorry to say that over the years (since 2015) I have seen a slip in standards, which is disappointing. Especially for the costs.

Experience a one-of-a-kind break with all the comforts of home, easy dining options and activities and extras that will make it an unforgettable holiday in nature. Step inside this spacious cabin styled in earthy shades of soft fennel and muted greys, complemented by whitewashed oak furniture. Built in harmony with the surrounding forest, this cabin’s great for smaller groups and families, with plenty of space to stretch out – then take in the views with floor to ceiling windows that let the light flood in as you sit back into your comfortable corner sofa. Extra home comforts and a kitchen with all the essentials make it easy for you to relax amongst the forest, the moment you walk through the door – fire up the barbecue on the decking, curl up by the logburner or sit back under clear skies in your very own hot tub. With cabin doors that open right out into the forest, you’re in the best spot possible for catching a glimpse of Tawny owls and Roe deer in the woodland meadow of Cropton Forest. Take a trip through the trees at Go Ape, Dalby Forest or sample craft ales on The Great Yorkshire Brewery Tour.

CROPTON FOREST

Wildlife feels closer than ever in the woodland meadow of Cropton Forest. This spot is right near Yorkshire’s rugged beaches and under open skies is perfect for stargazing. Cropton is in the heart of one of the UK’s most dramatic and beautiful counties and it’s possible to catch a glimpse of tawny owls and roe deer. There are hundreds of walks you can take around Cropton Forest. Some begin from your cabin door at Cropton, some take you across miles of moorland or along dramatic coastal paths and others are climbs to waterfalls, rocky outcrops and magnificent views. The North Yorkshire coast is just a 45-minute drive and offers the bucket-and-spade beach appeal of Scarborough, the Gothic allure of Whitby and fishing and smuggling heritage of the harbour town of Robin Hood’s Bay.
