It is spotless and well appointed. The location is perfect too! It is within walking distance of Bus station and Railway and all Skipton attractions. Thank you for a great stay! Christine.

  • "Finding a parking space not always easy contrary to what was implied in the listing."

Could be a problem for those with mobility issues. Similarly, stairs were VERY steep! Great property though - clean, comfortable and beautiful decor.

Thank you for your feedback and I hope you enjoyed your stay in Skipton as it's a beautiful town, unfortunately as the property is a terrace cottage close to the centre of Skipton it does not come with a driveway or a designated parking space which is why it is listed as "Road Side Parking" it is however only a short walk away from a huge carpark and there is plenty of free parking on the roads and streets around Ermysteds Cottage. Many Thanks Sally and Stuart Property Owner

  • "We had to buy toilet paper as there was not enough."

We ran out of liquid soap on the first night. There was no dishwashing detergent supplied. The welcome pack consisted of a packet of biscuits. Not even a small bottle of Milk in the fridge. Only five tea bags for a three night stay. The toilet seat was loose which was uncomfortable. No toiletries. You were greeted at the front door with a whole lot of weeds including a significant sized nettle in front of the door. These gripes may not seem all that significant but when you pay in excess of £600 for three nights accommodation that makes them Important. I understand there is a School Holiday/Bank Holiday premium and I take that into account. By way of comparison we checked into a better located and bigger cottage in Louth today with a big welcome pack of half a dozen items, toiletries, abundant amounts of tea, coffee, toiletries, cleaning materials etc. The cost was nearly £200 less for the equivalent stay.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We will look into the points raised and rectify these issues immediately. When I spoke to you, had you mentioned your concerns then I would have had these rectified sooner Unfortunately, we do not offer toiletries, we find people tend to prefer to use their own, we also like to stay away from "single use small plastic bottles". We alway welcome feedback to improve the quality of the accommodation we offer. Kindest regards Sally and Stuart Property Owner

The stairs were a little steep for older people and nearby parking was hit and miss. Otherwise we were very satisfied with the property and enjoyed our stay there.

  • "We had a great stay."

Excellent location. Everything was lovely. Great base to explore Skipton and the beautiful dales. Keelham Farm shop was fabulous and only a 15 minute walk. Didn't get to park right outside the cottage but the bays in front were fine for loading/unloading and we always got a space nearby. Loved that we could walk to the centre and the station easily. Sorry we didn't comment in the visitor's book but left it till last minute and didn't have a pen!

  • "A lovely cottage made more interesting by the brief history of the place included in the information pack."

Super location only a short walk from the town centre but very quiet at night. You could hear the owls over in Skipton woods. Everything was clean, with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms and lounge. The back garden was a sun trap and the coffee shop in front of the cottage was a bonus! As previous visitors had noted, parking was not a problem and we had no problem parking at the front to unload and repack our car. All in all a great find and we will be back!

Very impressed with cleanliness and facilities however I thought there could be more cleaning materials provided. Only had 1 bottle of multi purpose cleaner to clean everything. No toilet cleaner and no spare bin bags. This is just a minor thing and would not stop us staying there again. No other faults whatsoever. Would recommend.

A short walk into the High Street and whilst you can't park outside we parked on a side road nearby. • "Very comfortable clean cottage , the stairs are pretty step, but i have found that to be the case in four cottages that i have rented so far in Skipton ."

But everything worked well in the cottage and as it,s only been on the market i think for this year you could tell how new all the fittings were, also very handy being that end of skipton for the railway station and only a ten minute walk into the center of the town. So very happy with my stay there even had two nice days of weather at the end of the week.

(May 7th - 14th 2021) Very impressed by the detailed information received at all stages. My daughter and I were delighted with the standard of Ermytred's Cottage in Skipton, which set an incredibly high bar for any holiday property I may contemplate renting in the future. Everything went smoothly, resulting in a most enjoyable and relaxing break after a traumatic year of lockdowns - and moving, oh so reluctantly, last July from Yorkshire to Worcestershire to be nearer to family. Thank you so much.

  • "The entire experience exceeded our expectations which is remarkable given the difficulties posed by covid."

The booking process was simple and information accurate. Ermysted cottage in Skipton where we stayed had just been renovated to a very high standard for a cottage of that age. Yes the stairs were steep but we are in our late 60's and were able to cope. The information on car parking meant we expected to have to be flexible and on occasions find alternatives, which we did. All in all a smashing week and one we hope to repeat in the future.

The property

Ermysted's Cottage is a stone-built, terraced cottage positioned in a quiet backwater location within the ever-popular market town of Skipton.

This Skipton cottage is full of character and retains much charm of a 'bygone age', making an ideal retreat for couples or small families.

After a day of touring the North Dales, you can look forward to unwinding in the sitting room, tuning into your favourite TV shows whilst the fire provides a gentle warmth to the room.

Continue into the well-designed contemporary kitchen, boasting a plethora of appliances including an electric oven and gas hob, along with all the utensils and crockery needed for a sumptuous family feast.

Climb the staircase to the first floor and be greeted by two lovely bedrooms; the master bedroom includes a lavish king-size bed, whilst the second bedroom is home to a full sized single. Here you will also find a sizable shower room with walk-in shower unit.

Head out to the enclosed garden for a breath of fresh air, or pop on your walking boots and waterproof coats for a great outdoor adventure.

Often known as ‘The Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, it’s no surprise that Skipton has become a firm favourite amongst holidaymakers.

Explore the medieval castle and its ancient woodland, take canal boat trips or relish in a day at the swimming pool, golf course or tennis courts.

Skipton also has a network of walks including gentle rambles and challenging fell walks within close proximity of the town.

The award-winning High Street is a short walk away and offers a great choice of restaurants, tea rooms, coffee shops and fish and chip shops, whilst the traditional market sells fresh produce throughout the year such as local cheeses, fish, meat and fresh vegetables.

Not forgetting that the Yorkshire Dales is on your doorstep; discover the beautifully restored Embasy & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway, Stepping Stones, and The Strid Ancient Woodland.
