  • "We were staying in the area as our daughter's second baby was due."

Goyt cottage could not have been more perfect. Warm and comfortable and everything we needed including a tasty welcome pack for both us and our dog. When we needed to stay some extra nights as baby was more and more overdue both Sykes and the owners could not have been more helpful. It really was a home from home with fabulous facilities on the doorstep too, lovely walks in all directions and high street with everything you could need. Many many thanks , we would be back but my daughter is moving ! Wish we had found you 10 years ago ! We have already recommended you to so many friends and family.

  • "Absolutely loved this place, immaculately presented, the cleanliness was exceptional-just smelled fresh the second you opened the door."

Well equipped kitchen, high quality throughout and a lovely little welcome hamper. We ate at the Midland one night and Norfolk Arms for Sunday dinner, both nice enough but nowhere near as good as the local chippy or Chinese. Lots of lovely walks nearby and only a short drive to the likes of Bakewell and many nice places. Thank you for a great stay

  • "Such a lovely, well restored and maintained home in a beautiful setting!"

Exactly as described, with a well supplied kitchen and sweet little garden. We enjoyed exploring Oldknows’ Mill, Brabynt Park, and the locks. The neighborhood shops and pubs are excellent with friendly people. Very convenient to the train as well. I think the only things I would suggest are a non-slip mat for the en-suite shower and maybe some paper towels/serviettes in the kitchen. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

  • "The cottage was in the perfect place, close to shops, pubs ect and a good base to visit places such as Buxton."

The cottage was very quirky with its low beam upstairs and creaky staircase. The welcome basket was very nice and fresh flower on arrival. If you stay here Liddy's and the Norfolk Arms are a must to visit and defo have a Sunday roast at Norfolk Arms was the best roast we've had in a pub. We would love to stay here again even though the en-suite in larger bedroom was very small. Lovely time had thank you. Sally, Martin, kay and Derek from Northamptonshire.

  • "Our stay at goyt cottage was a really wonderful week , a cottage of character and quirky old features , the low beam upstairs at first was a surprise but we soon mastered it ."

I use to live around the area so know how beautiful it is , we did some walking in the area and enjoyed eating in the pubs and local cafes ie the Royal scot , Libby’s and the Midland and a wonderful chippy as well , must like to mention the gift package which was left was a pleasant surprise. All credit to the owners who have made this a lovely visit , definitely would love to stay again , Tina and Martin , Sligo , Ireland .

  • "This is my second stay at this cottage."

It’s beautiful and in such a lovely location. I will be back. I did find it a little cold at times in the living room but still a lovely place to stay. Thanks

  • "Beautiful cottage in a stunning location; great place to celebrate the new year."

Lots of fabulous walks straight from the cottage with the dogs. If it's wet, bring a Mud Daddy (or similar) and plenty of towels with you as the front door opens straight into the living room - we're glad we took ours as it rained every day! Looking forward to returning on another occasion soon.

Lovely furnishings. Well equipped with good quality crockery and appliances. Nice and warm.

  • "A delightful, well presented cottage with plenty of character including some low beams , so tall guys watch your heads!"

The hospitality "welcome" items that greeted us at arrival were a nice touch and much appreciated. On just two minor points, the kitchen-patio door we found difficult to open on occasion when locked and, for an oldie like me, I would have felt a tad safer if a non slip shower mat (and possibly a small shower grab rail on the wall) were provided. These small matters , however, did not detract from a wonderful time enjoyed by both of us and I have no hesitation in giving Goyt Cottage a 5 Star rating.

  • "We love Goyt Cottage, and we love Marple Bridge too."

We may well book again for a colder month as the cottage has a lovely wood burner, and it will be a lovely cosy place to warm up after a lovely walk in the area. Make sure you visit the Norfolk Arms pub, and you can get some fabulous provisions from Dutton's Deli.

Hi Donald, We're so glad you enjoyed staying at Goyt Cottage again and we would love to welcome you back anytime! Thanks John and Michelle Property Owner

  • "We really loved this quirky cottage."

The furnishings and decor were lovely. The kitchen had everything you need for a holiday cottage. The coffee machine was fabulous. The wine and pastries were a lovely touch and milk in the fridge too! The parking was never a problem and the village of Marple Bridge is really lovely. We recommend you try the Fish and Chip Shop which was excellent . The best pub grub we found was just up the eoad in Mellor and called ‘The Devonshire Arms’ the food was lovely and the beer garden was great. We ate at the ‘Midland’ in Marple Bridge which was ok and the ‘Norfolk Arms’ but neither were somewhere we would go to again. ‘Libby’s’ cafe was super with lovely cakes and scones! We walked aling the canal to Romiley which was lovely and got the bus back after a pint! We also wen to ‘Marple’ and had a super meal in ‘The Black Bull’s Head’ which was really great food and super value and a friendly place with brilliant staff. All in all we had a great week away. The weather was a bit rainy but we made the most of the area and also saw our daughter who lives in Stockport and her boyfriend who stayed with us one night at the cottage. The owners were great and helped out with a problem we had straight away. We would hugely recommend ‘Goyt Cottage’ it is well worth a visit. Watch your head though on the wooden beams! All four of us managed to forget and had a bump!!!!!!

  • "A fairy tale cottage in the heart of a bustling village but quiet and peaceful inside!"

You can walk to shops and restaurants and public transport is close by. It is equipped with everything you need for a lovely holiday, maybe an umbrella is needed as we forgot ours but we survived without…it was very clean and beds are comfortable. The cottage was filled with fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, treats from the local bakery, milk in the fridge and a bag of munchies. Five stars.
