  • "The lodge was absolutely lovely, comfortable and very clean."

We were looking for peace and tranquility, which we definetly found here. The bed was very comfortable and the hot tub and views great. A few things which could be looked at, but probably none that would stop us booking again. One issue which really need looking into is the fridge, it is quite noisy during night ( which kept me awake) and the ice box was so full of ice we couldn't get anything in it. The outside seats really need varnishing, they're not a very welcoming first impression. There are no cooking utensils eg: spatula or scissors etc. and only two sideplates. Two of the coffee mugs are so badly marked inside, they need replacing. I really hope these issues will be dealt with, especially the fridge. It would really help to enhance a stay. We took our frying pan, as a review said the one provided was too small, unfortunately the pans don't work, the hob only comes on when the heavy pans provided are used. We took our Cosori which cooks most things as we knew there was no oven. A full length mirror on the back of bathroom door or wardrobe door would be a bonus. I like to be honest in reviews and feel sure Syke cottages would want to know of any concerns so they can be rectified.

  • "The lodge was outstanding."

Beautiful decor, views and vicinity. Just a couple of gripes which are too small to mention however we reported to James one of the outside doors wouldn’t lock and he didn’t come to fix it. Or even look at it so we were out all day without the doors being locked. Luckily we were taking all valuables with us.

  • "Really enjoyed the lodge and found it to be plenty clean and comfortable just found that there were a few things missing that really would have made it an easier stay I."

E a frying pan big enough for plenty of food for 2 people also more than 2 dishwasher tablets as well as washing up liquid I don’t feel this is something guests should have to bring given the price paid as well as the smallest drop of cooking oil left luckily we didn’t need it but for someone coming without it and not thinking it could be a real problem also with the lodge there was no oven which once again could cause major issues for cooking if you brought pizza etc as well as an extension lead would have been ideal to allow for consoles to be plugged into the tv and played nowhere near by with one available sadly. All in all a lovely lodge with great views and a lovely hot tub and feel just needs a few touches to really make it the next level
