"We left 2 days early."
..
The property needs a very deep clean and a refresh. The bedding didn't feel laundered and there were cobwebs in the crockery cupboard.
The bed was too high and the sofa too low.
Get some internet, it's 2024!
All linen is freshly laundered before every new guest arrives, of course. Sorry about the spider webs, the property is always thoroughly cleaned.

"Bear in mind I am 83 years old my wife is 75."
The cottage was dark and dated there was no hot water from the shower we told the owner but it wasn’t fixed and we found out it wasn’t working in 2021 the oven was disgusting with a layer of fat on the bottom we only used the kettle and toaster. The bed was 2ft 6in high and the bath was about 2ft 6in long. It wasn’t a place we wanted to spend time in with the seating so uncomfortable, but for the weather we wouldn’t have stayed the 4 nights.
I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay. But the kitchen is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before every guest arrives. The discolouration on the base of the oven is due to a previous guest overheating it and damaging the paint. It is not fat. The bath is an expensive continental tub bath that conserves water usage and doubles as a shower base. The hot water to the shower is supplied from the same tank that supplies all hot taps. I’ll add instructions on how to use the shower! I’ve added a light to the kitchen but I can’t be responsible for the levels of sunlight. The styling in the cottage is carefully considered, containing mid-century Scandinavian furniture and an eclectic mix of retro decorations and original artwork. We are sorry it wasn’t to your taste.

No hot water .no games room .washing machine broken .garden area not like in photos at all it is now all feel fenced off communal gate into cottage shared by 3 other cottages all neighbouring cottages gave us abuse for staying told us to leave big arguments with neighbours that apparently has been goin on years they want the cottage holiday let to be shut down so you basically feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable. Owners cottage is actually joined onto the hayloft .no privacy .no parking .get told to move your car constantly by text messages. Awful to stay in the middle of a neighbouring argument one lady even through apples through an open window at us and shouted get back to the city .we left early and came home .

"We had a very good holiday."
The cottage was full of character and tastefully decorated, with lovely artwork done by the owner. The views from the upstairs windows were delightful and we loved the wide window sills with ornaments and plants. The upstairs had a very cosy feel and the downstairs kitchen and bathroom was spacious and well equipped.
The cottage is in a perfect location for those who enjoy walking and wildlife. The cliffs are a short walk away and we saw lots of birds, hares and deer.
Unfortunately there was a problem with the heating and hot water (a new system has recently been installed), but the owner was very helpful and tried very hard to get it resolved, although this proved difficult.
However, despite this we hope to return in the future as we liked the cottage and the area very much.

"Had a really lovely week at The Hayloft."
This property is in a great location for visiting the local area . We walked the Cleveland way to Scarborough, cycled to Ravenscar. Bought the original smoked kippers in Whitby , found fossils in staithes .
Due to Covid 19 rules the local pubs were closed and although we managed to eat out a few times we mainly cooked at the cottage . It had a pantry full of every kind of pot and pans etc.
Lovely to wake up and see the sun glistening on the sea every morning was a definite bonus .
We had a heating / boiler problem over the bank holiday weekend. We called the owner who swiftly got the problem solved that afternoon.
We really loved staying at this cottage and is great value for money . Would highly recommend.

Its your job to see all the details and expectations are correct. The Cottage is advertised elsewhere anyway.
The Cottage was compact, warm and comfortable, the views amazing, the Art Work an unexpected pleasure. Perhaps a plumper Cushion on the Settee would be good.
The Cinder Track was near, buses ran frequently between Scarborough and Whitby. All in all an excellent place to stay. Would recommend to Friends and Family, and even return for a Chill out time.
WiFi would be helpful for those who do not have Posh phones

There is now a high fence around the property resulting in a small patio which does not appear on the photo. There is also a a very large and noisy Thermo V LG heating/water heater in the patio which was constantly on and off all day resulting in an unpleasant ambiance on the patio.

"This cottage was very convenient, comfortable, and well equipped."
There was plenty of local information in the form of books, and the owner was always available to give advice on local things. The paintings and art creations were of the highest quality.
The only downside was that the bedroom was upstairs but the toilet was downstairs. This could cause a problem for the elderly or the disabled. perhaps this could be made clear on the description of the property.
However I would certainly recommend this cottage for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
