  • "We loved Tub Cottage and where it was situated."

Lovely walks around the area and plenty to do. The cottage was very welcoming and loved the flowers and Fizz. Only thing we found was the fridge did freeze our food, so maybe needs servicing. Very friendly pubs and we did eat at The Shakespeare behind and the food was lovely. Would definitely us Tub again and would recommend xx

  • "I found the cottage lovely but going down a slippery slope, vegetation in garden and path overgrown making access to property difficult and with it being over grown in garden was not able to sit outside."

General maintenance ignored outside lights not working and light next to settee also not working (just needs bulb). Cleanliness generally ok were it’s visible but I dropped a coin which went under settee (filthy) and oven needs a deep clean, hob chipped but still useable. I know all this seems negative but 1hrs work and it is a lovely cottage. Ooh and steps/stairs are steep. (I live in bungalow lol).

  • "Tub Boat Cottage is a cosy cottage overlooking the canal at Coalport."

It is well equipped iwith crockery and kitchenware. Being small, it has made a good use of the space available in terms of storage. Parking is available next to the pub on the opposite side of the road which is up a flight of steps. It is very peaceful with little noise. Coalport village has few amenities (apart from the Coalport China Museum, cafe pub and hairdresser) but it is only a 10 minute drive into Ironbridge where there is a Co-Op or to Madeley where Aldi and Lidl are on the same site. There is no public transport to the village but the park and ride shuttle bus which operates at weekends during the summer does stop outside the museum and calls at the other Ironbridge Gorge sites.

It is beautifully furnished and well equipped. We do feel, however, that it could benefit from a general tidy up of the trees and shrubs around the perimeter of the property to let in a little more sunshine. Great property!

  • "Warning about steps to cottage was noted."

Steepness of stairs to bedroom was a surprise. The yard at front of property was in need of maintenance and shrubs at waterside needed trimming. It was a nice cottage overall but the parking is an issue, twice we had to pay for an hour or two at the cafe/museum down the road whilst waiting for a space nearer, for that reason we will not be returning.

It is well equipped and the reclining sofa and bed were both very comfortable. Lovely enclosed outdoor space for our little dog and ideally located for woodland and river walks. We didn’t use the car once as there is so much to see and do in the area. Tesco 1.5 miles away. The flowers and Prosecco were very thoughtful.

We had a great pre-Christmas stay with lots of exploring in the area. The location of the cottage is perfect, easy access to lots of things to see and do, plenty of good pubs to eat and drink at and, if the weather isn’t too good, just sitting looking out of the window watching the wildlife. I’d certainly recommend Tub Boat and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Brilliant views and light for me to pursue my artistic dabbling. Great outside space for al fresco meals, even enjoyed breakfast outside and for the pup to relax and enjoy sniffing the fresh air. Numerous lovely walks for the pup too, a new one to explore each day. We were disjointed that Tub boat cottage does not have a canal view from the garden. The photo of the cottage gives the impression the whole building is what you are renting whereas the building is actually semi detached . While the description is true the actual downstairs is very compact however this does not appear to put off must visitors. The location is ideal for visiting Ironbridge and its museums without resorting to driving. We visited Half moon, Shakespeare Inn and Woodbridge Inn for food and every meal was wonderful. Finally I feel the fees for this cottage are excessive composted for other comparable properties in this location

We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay but the cottage is advertised as a one bedroom 2 person cottage and the photos on Sykes website are accurate. There are wonderful views of the river and canal from both upstairs and down and our little garden is enclosed as we are dog friendly and went our guests both 2 legged and 4 to have a safe and relaxing stay. Whilst we were aware of the 16 steps down from road to the cottage, we found it hard carrying suitcases, food, etc. from the car parked along the road at the far end of the Shakespeare Inn, up to 100m depending on parking spaces, we found the internal stairs extremely difficult to negotiate, me going up on all fours and my partner coming down backwards. We subsequently lived out of our suitcases downstairs, all week. Otherwise the cottage was absolutely delightful, beautiful, peaceful location, clean and comfortable, well appointed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perhaps we could suggest that Sykes makes a little more mention of the internal stairs in particular, as they are not really suitable for the elderly and/or anyone with mobility issues.
