  • "We stayed here for 3 nights, 6 adults, 4 children and 3 dogs."

John showed us around and was very pleasant while sharing some history of his family home. The property was lovely, modern with home comforts which made it cosy for family time and the added bonus of a separate games room and an area with a fire pit where we toasted our marshmallows. The ground floor bedroom with accessible bathroom was ideal for my parents who struggle with stairs. Plenty of room in the 1st floor bedrooms 3/4 with ensuite and a family bathroom. The sitting room was big enough for us all to chill out and play board games together and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and sitting together for meals. The dogs took advantage of the large fenced fields for a morning run. A short drive into Caernarfon and Beaumaris with plenty to keep us busy. We will be returning, we had a lovely time

The warmth was great as I had expected it will be cold. The landlord/care taker is such a caring man who would ensure everything is right for comfort. He was immediately on hand for any query. Home was decorated for the occasion such as Christmas tree.

  • "Thank you for a lovely weekend away."

We all really enjoyed it and the house was plenty big enough for us all. In a lovely location and particularly liked the games room. The things that I think that would make it even better are:- The toilet in the wet room doesn't flush properly so could do with sorting, mirrors in all of the bedrooms and a hot tub would be a great addition! We would definitely stay again though and thank you for a fantastic weekend away!

  • "We had a great time."

7 adults, 5 kids including two in cots. 3 generations of our family. A minor issue with a few internal loose door handles but the house was large, well equipped and the additional out building converted to a games room was excellent. Best to take some darts of your own. It's a super location with ease of access to so many places for all ages.

It provides a very comfortable base for a family holiday in North Wales. The games room is ideal for families with older children. The owners were great. They couldn't have been friendlier. They even made us a little cup for the winner of our family pool competition on the last night from a branch of their cherry tree that been recently pruned ! A lovely momento of a great visit.

  • "The house was pretty nice and it had been renovated recently."

It was located looking out on fields with a few caravans which was good, but there was a lot of tatty industrial units out the back, although not much seemed to be happening so it wasn't noisy. It would be better with the garden out the front or at least fencing around the back garden to isolate it. I am a wheelchair user who doesn't walk at all so the accessibility of the bathroom is very important to me. It was far better than most but the disabled toilet should have a horizontal and vertical handrail on the adjacent wall. These are in the British Standard and almost every disabled public or say supermarket toilet has them. But the disabled toilet here didn't have a paired vertical rail. I could see no reason why it wasn't fitted and it would have made the stay here so much easier.

  • "Disabled bathroom could do with low shelf in shower for shower gel etc when using shower chair?"

The front double bedroom loo was very wobbly and this room could do with a mirror other than in the bathroom for use with a hairdryer. A book with information about recycling, and refuge bins. Equipment usage oven etc. Local locations or phone numbers for vets, pharmacy etc.would be useful. Garden is not fenced so maybe make dog owners aware of this? This did not detract in anyway on our stay a lovely house, location and owners and a lovely hog roast. Thank you John and family.

  • "This is an excellent property for large families/groups with 5 double ensuite bedrooms plus another downstairs toilet."

It's a well designed property, with enough space for everyone to do their own thing, including a separate games room. The house would benefit from an improved inventory of plates, cutlery etc. Plus more wine glasses! Well placed for the Velocity 2 zip world, Caernarfon Castle and the coast. Loved it!

We celebrated a 50th birthday and filled the place up, at no point did we feel that our noise would travel beyond to others annoyance, as it’s far enough away from the nearby touring site. Games room kept the teens happy…Dog friendly, with a bit of green space.

The house is very spacious and very comfortable for large parties. Struggled slightly plating up on Xmas day as work surface is a bit limited but managed. We were nice and snug as the Weather was terrible the heating was superb. The only negative we thought the garden was enclosed and having 3dogs sometimes was a little difficult but we were allowed to walk all over the 30acres. Would definitely return in the future by the way the games room was fantastic and a god send. Diane Knight Warrington

  • "The host was lovely and friendly."

The house has everything you could need and combines tradition with modern really well and the games room is a definite bonus which we utilised fully. There was only two slight issues that we came across, one was the amount of dog hair that was around on the floors and sofas which I'm guessing if you had pets would be fine but we had a couple of people with dog allergies that were quite affected and we had to do a full hoover and mop - this is probably something we should have taken into consideration when booking as it is listed as a pet friendly house. The second was that Saturday was quite a windy night and the en-suite vents banged all night keeping us all awake but you can't control the weather. These are only small issues and didn't stop us having a great time and if you want a great place to go with dogs then I would recommend here. The little village down the road is very pleasant and we had a lovely meal at The Glyntwrog Inn.

We have holidayed in numerous large properties over the years with extended family and friends and Bryn Afon is right up there as our favourite. The house is super warm, well equipped, kept very clean and for October we have had a very good stay. The owner is a lovely guy and so welcoming that it makes the whole experience of visiting Bryn Afon a total pleasure for us. We as a family with diverse needs are more than happy to recommend this property and hope to return ourselves in the not too distant future as there is always plenty for us to do and its really not that far from all facilities, a small drive to Caernarfon and Llanberis which we discovered this week. So picturesque and lots to do.
