  • "Please Please be honest and state off road parking is not available"

Hello John. We are sorry you chose to note the parking provision as your solitary comment about your stay at Poppy Lodge. Bearing in mind the short distance between our allocated parking spot and the entrance to Poppy Lodge. Further bearing in mind you were sent a comprehensive email informing you of our parking provision with a supporting photo. To respond to your comment; our allocated parking space is located within the grounds of our property. It does adjoin a public road, but we would suggest you are incorrect to indicate it is not 'off road' parking. That said, given the potential grey area of where the space does sit, and to avoid any further confusion, we are happy to remove the description of 'off road' parking. Having timed the distance this morning, the walk between designated parking space and front door is a matter of 37 seconds. Property Owner

  • "A lovely clean and well organised property."

Very comfortable king sized bed and plenty of space. Just the right size for a couple and near to the Bolingey Inn who do real ales and fantastic food. Seat and table outside to enjoy the evening sun. Lovely walk into Perranporth or drive and park up. The beach at Perranporth is beautiful. An ideal hideaway with pleasant owner.

Could do with non stick cooking utensils that are ceramic hob comparable dining chairs more like school chairs very hard narrow steep stairs on the plus side very clean and tidy

Thank you for your comments. We will review the kitchen equipment, as we do every year. Of course the chairs are a personal preference; I have the exact same Habitat Hester chairs (from the days of old Habitat!) in my house and find them very comfortable indeed. We will add chair cushions in view of your comment. Property Owner

  • "Lovely place to stay."

Owner very welcoming and helpful in the lead up to our arrival. Close to the beach we walked down and enjoyed the walk although the hill back can be steep so not for everyone. Very comfortable stay. Only issue we booked as it stated shared drive and that this would be where we would use but may need to move our car occasionally. It also stated there was a reserved spot. Just before arrival we found out the reserved space would be available but not the shared drive this was just difficult for loading and unloading the car.

Thank you, Amy. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and yes, agree with your comment about the hill! Indeed the driveway for our house is not shared- apologies, I have asked for this to be removed from the Sykes' listing. But you are also welcome to load and unload from the driveway. I am very sorry for the confusion. Property Owner

  • "Lovely comfortable flat."

Clean and well equipped. Very nice touch by the owner was leaving us the makings of a Cornish cream tea! Location is on a steep hill so walking back from the super local pub or the beach was quite an effort and not mentioned in the listing. We would stay again.

Thank you, Chris. Fantastic to read you enjoyed your time at Poppy Lodge. The Bolingey Inn indeed is a great local. We are happy to note the hill from the pub is relatively steep; the alternative route to the beach (via Liskey Hill) makes for an easier walk. We hope to see you again. Property Owner

About the location

PERRANPORTH

Newquay 9 miles; Truro 9.5 miles.

Perranporth, a beautiful Cornish coastal town, lies in the heart of Poldark Country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Perranporth offers plenty of traditional pubs and shops, plus a classic bucket-and-spade beach that is lifeguarded in summer, overlooked by craggy rocks and a wonderful coastal path. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of the rich heritage with abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages. The local Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both well worth a visit to understand the fascinating history of this coastal area. Further afield are the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay, and the breathtaking coastal walks around St Agnes, much of it owned by the National Trust. A perfect holiday base in Cornwall, with an abundance of activities to suit everyone.
