  • "The property is in a lovely setting in Carbis Bay, only a short walk down to the beach and also the railway station."

The only reasons that I have downgraded the star ratings are due to the maintenance and provision of basic supplies, which are probably more down to Sykes Cottages/Carbis Bay Holidays than the owners. Firstly, there was a lovely hamper of goodies left for us which was a nice treat. However, the provision of toilet rolls for a week's stay was very basic, with no extra toilet rolls left anywhere in the property. A coffee maker was available, but no coffee pods (not even one as an indicator of which type were needed), there was no antibacterial spray or any cleaning spray, insufficient dishwasher tablets and no washing powder/pods. We bought all of the things that we needed and left them for the next people following us into the property. The fridge and freezer weren't very clean and the freezer badly needed defrosting. The dishwasher service light was showing that it needed attention. The ensuite shower was not very clean and tiles needed bleaching. Finally the TV on demand service did not work. The property is marketed as a penthouse property - which indeed it is being built into the roof space. The ceilings slope in most of the rooms and caution is needed as it is very easy to bang your head in every room. As is evidenced by the dirty/greasy head marks on the sloping ceilings in every room - a good cleaning of these areas would have been appreciated. With very small attention to detail this property could be fabulous but it is the little things that let it down. I had an issue with the washer/dryer mid week and contacted both Sykes and the owner's number regarding this as there were no instructions for the washing machine. I did not receive any response until 24 hours later, by which time I had looked on line and worked out how to operate the machine for myself (the door had stuck mid programme during drying). Whilst these aforementioned things aren't major issues I think they need highlighting in a bid to keep the property up to scratch in terms of cleanliness and maintenance, especially as it is being advertised as a "penthouse" property. We had a lovely stay apart from this, the apartment is warm, light and airy with great views over the bay and it really is an ideal spot for walking into St Ives or catching the train. It is right on the SW Coastal path so fantastic for walking either way up or down the coast. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay despite the few issues that we had.

  • "A wonderful place to base ourselves for a week of exploration."

Very spacious, comfortable and clean. Views out of this world and felt like a home. If ever down there again, wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Perfect location, 2 mins walk to train station, which runs into St Ives every 30 mins. St Ives itself, really is the picture postcard resort you see in the pictures. No negatives and highly recommended.

  • "7 Sandy Lane is a beautiful apartment with beautiful views over the bay."

It’s close to St Ives and Carbis Bay which was perfect for our family to explore. The apartment was incredibly clean and well supplied with everything you needed for a home away from home. We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Thank you for your review and we are so glad you had such a great time! Look forward to you staying with us again. Property Owner

  • "The penthouse apartment is amazing with lovely views if the sea from a distance from 2 bedrooms and living kitchen also off the two balconies."

Bed in main en suite room super comfy. Enough storage spaces throughout. Bathrooms slighly small with sloaping ceilings so easy to bump your heads which we did many times

Thank you for taking time to give us feedback. We hope to see you again in the near future. Kind Regards, Carbis Bay Holidays Team. Property Owner
