• "We had been looking forward to our break to celebrate our 20th Wedding anniversary - unfortunately the expectations of the above description didn't meet the standards."

  On arrival preparing to store food in the freezer the door was extremely difficult to open - indeed the cupboard door and dislodged from the freezer door and although maintenance team "repaired" it twice it was no better. We ended up opening the fridge door to lever the freezer door. The advert stated 'towels supplied' which consisted of one bath towel and one hand towel each. With shower, hot tub (which didn't exist), jacuzzi and sauna it was a good job we had brought plenty of beach towels. Saucepans had very loose handles, fortunately a handy tool in my car prevented any mishaps. The EV charger was only connected after we raised the issue with the site management on our second week! The vacuum cleaner on/off switch did not work - the mains was the only control. Due to the lack of towels (and lack of clean bedding) we hoped to use the washing machine but alas that didn't work - we identified the challenge on the Monday morning - despite maintenance staff and washing machine engineers attending the issue was not resolved before our departure (6 days later). Many of the "streetlights" were not working - therefore walking the dog could be hazardous. The toilet provision is small and would benefit from a towel hook and somewhere to store soaps & toilet rolls. Instructions for the equipment and facilities were very generic (probably site wide) and so confusing which meant a lot of trial & error. Before we left the site, we were phoned by the remote office with apologies for all the trial and tribulations and assurances we would be compensated (we had paid a lot of money for our 10 day stay) however to date no such provision has been made or offered. The caller also identified as we were staying for over a week, we should have had a housekeeping visit to change bed and towels - obviously this did not occur. We do pay tribute to "Tracey" whom I had regular contact with, and she tried hard to appease us on our complaints and challenges but obviously she was limited on her capacity to correct all the mishaps. I think it very unlikely we would recommend the sites to anyone who has our home address!!

We really do appreciate you taking the time to leave us your thoughts and experiences after your stay with us at 2 Southern Place. Our maintenance team work very hard in between guest stays to ensure that we try and keep on top of as much of the maintenance as we can, as well as carrying out their normal pre-arrival checks. On this occasion, I am aware that our maintenance team visited your lodge on multiple occasions to attempt to rectify your issues, as well as arranging for a replacement washing machine to be delivered, which I appreciate did not arrive in time to be fitted into your lodge for your stay. I am deeply sorry that there also appears to be a list of items and issues during your stay, as this should not have been the case and I will speak with our Maintenance Manager to ensure that this particular lodge is looked into further to ensure these items are not raised again by future guests. We took over the resorts at the end of last year and since taking over we are working extremely hard on making as many improvements as possible, as you may have seen we have refurbished our restaurant and reception area making it a more welcoming space for our guests to visit. We are currently working on refurbishing our lodges and upgrading the furniture and furnishings to provide a more luxury feel. Our returning guests are extremely valuable and I would not want this disappointing experience to deter you from revisiting us again, so I really do hope that you will look to stay with us again so we can guarantee our standards which we are working so hard on. • "We had a wonderful week, although the weather was two much for our dogs so we had to make use of the lodge facilities which were amazing."

  The sky deck was wonderful and we loved chilling in the cinema room. The jacuzzi was absolutely fantastic! We are returning for Christmas and also next April.

• "The location is quiet and peaceful in a very pretty setting."

  The lodge was spacious and included everything and more that you could need for a relaxing stay. The only feedback, in what was truly a wonderful stay is that the supplied DVD player in the cinema room couldn't play any of the large selection on Blu-ray discs provided. Also a shelf in the shower would be nice rather than all your suppliers having to be stored on the floor. These are minor observations though as otherwise the lodge was perfect. The bed was super comfy and the sauna and jacuzzi bath were a real treat. The outside areas were plesent, especially the Sky deck which our dog enjoyed. One final thought, a door mat outside the front door would be a useful addition too, although there is a large matted area just inside. All in all a really great place to stay for a holiday in Cornwall which I feel confident to heartily recommend to everyone. You will not be disappointed.

• "Well, what can I say!"

  My only regret is that our holiday was for one week, rather than two. I booked this break for my partner's 60th birthday. To my suprise, we had balloons and a bottle on arrival, which was a lovely suprise. The lodge was over and above our expectations. There was everything you needed, from washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, all the kitchen essentials, with a small dining area for two. The walk-in shower was great, especially if you have mobility issues. The bedroom was both comfortable and spacious. The living area had a comfortable settee and large TV, where you were able to sign into your Netflix. Wi-Fi was available free of charge. The cinema room we used quite a lot, as there were two comfortable reclining chairs. The lodge itself was bright and airy. Very private, no one overlooking, so relaxing and peaceful. Not to forget that these properties are self-catering, although you have the bare essentials, take your basics such as washing up liquid, washing machine detergent, kitchen roll, toilet rolls, waste bags, etc. Any essentials that you would use at home, take with you. The location is easily accessible and easy to access the villages, harbour towns and seaside resorts. A beautiful part of the country and certainly well worth seeing. The weather could have been better, which prevented us from using our roof terrace. This would have been great in the good weather. Unable to comment on jacuzzi bath and sauna, as these were not used. The site is secure, well maintained and there are facilities to dispose of your waste. My partner and I tended to buy from the bakeries and take back to our lodge. There are the usual supermarkets not too far away, such as Lidl, Morrisons, Aldi and more. Also Trago Mills is a stones throw away! The staff are extremely helpful, very approachable and nothing is too much trouble. We both felt totally relaxed after our stay and we shall certainly be booking again in the future. All the pictures shown of the lodges are true. What you see, is what you get! • "The most amazing little break for my partner's 30th birthday!"

  Everything felt so luxurious and we really appreciated the little things, like milk in the fridge on arrival and the board games and jigsaw in the front room. We thought it would be nice to have some sort of shelf or toiletries holder in the shower, and maybe a blind or curtain across the front door, but these things didn't have a huge impact on our short stay! We would definitely like to come back when the weather is drier and warmer so we can use the (many!) outdoor seating areas. Thank you so much for a lovely time!

• "Wow! This lodge was absolutely perfect!"

  Even better than the pictures and perfectly clean. Really spacious too. You will not be disappointed with it at all. Genuinely felt like we had our own private spa and cinema. The white robes were perfect to relax in. The added bits like tea, coffee, washing up liquid, soaps were ideal. The instructions were easy to follow and the lodge was easy to find. The heating was on when we got there which we were delighted with. All the functions were easy to use (cinema/sauna/spa bath etc). There was everything you needed in the welcome booklet too. The lodge smelt fresh and clean and was just so luxury. Will absolutely be booking to come back again. The perfect winter break. If you’re reading the review for other lodges and you’re not sure (like I was when booking) please note this spa bath is perfectly clean and no black bits in sight.

• "Second stay at 2 Southern Place."

  Great place to stay to explore Cornwall and South Devon. Comfortable lodge, great facilities. A couple of areas getting ready for some TLC. Cleaning cold be better, a few cobwebs knocking about, the sun terrace had an empty bottle and one full of water and cigarette buts left up there and loads of leaves which had obviously been there ages. The lack of cleaning equipment remains. One dish cloth and tea towel for a 2 week stay is not sufficient. Toilet cleaner really is a must too. But we were prepared and packed our own. All in all a nice place and a lovely holiday.
