  • "Overall stay very good."

The cleanliness of the property wasn’t very good . Lot of dust on tvs, corners of floors. Nothing moved on worktops just wiped round . Tops of lamps in bedrooms very dusty. Windows very very dirty. The main problem for us having picked a dog friendly site was the lighting outside. You need to walk dogs at night and the whole site was pitch black so that was really bad for us .

  • "We had a great family break in this wonderful property."

It was everything and more than the description gave. Due to the time of year we visited we didn’t get a chance to use all of the outdoor areas, but backing into the fields face a lively peaceful outlook.

  • "We had the most amazing stay at 21 Meadow Retreat."

The lodge had everything we needed for a much needed break away. The setting was perfect, the facilities were excellent and we would definitely return…. The only thing wrong was we had to leave - If only we could have stayed for longer!!!

  • "The accomodation is excellent, more care should be taken with the cleanliness, the lodge was definitely cleaner when we left than when we arrived."

Also, the provision of just two toilet rolls an two black bin bags is penny pinching considering the cost of the rental. The take away service from the other site is not feasible due to the round trip distance, unless of course your clients like to eat cold burgers etc.

  • "We had a great time and it is a great property."

We really like the rooms and the comfortable structure of the layout of the house. The kitchen and the living room were totally decked out and it had all of the facilities. Just one suggestion, you may want to consider having a better cleaning crew or cleaning team since the two toilets appeared a bit dirty in the toilet seats, bathtub, shower walls, sinks, etc. Perhaps it was a one off but due to the amount that you are charging per week, we were expecting clean bathrooms.

  • "Fantastic lodge with everything you could possibly need for a stay in Cornwall."

We were lucky with the weather so made the most of the outdoor space in the evenings too. Only negative was we weren’t told before or after booking about extra lodges being put onsite and unfortunately when we arrived we discovered a lodge directly next door being worked on throughout the days. Whilst the tradesmen were quiet and we were out most of the days anyway, I was disappointed that we weren’t informed before or after booking, especially considering the money we spent and the fact this was our first holiday in some time.

  • "Amazing countryside views in a peaceful location."

Very quiet on site, did not hear other guests ( or see many) but then again, this part of the site looks as if there are around 6 or 7 lodges to be added. That said, it will still be exclusive and not jam packed. The lodge was clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped, excellent pans and cooking utensils and all of the equipment was easy to use. No need to take my own cafetiere even! The deck outside is fabulous with a large, private hot tub and great patio furniture. Pity the weather wasn't warmer when we stayed!! There are spaces for new lodges either side of this lodge, currently vacant foundations but even when these are filled, there seems to be some consideration as to keeping the decked areas private from being overlooked. If you find it hard to sleep in the light, early mornings, I would take an eye mask- the curtains don't do much to hide the morning sun - but if that doesn't bother you then you'll have no problems!. The bed was comfortable and overall the lodge was larger than I expected, 2 bathrooms, a large shower in one and a bath and over-bath shower in the other and a dressing room! Travelling by car around the area is essential as we did not discover anything in walking distance of the lodge and the road outside the site was not paved all the way to the shop and could be a bit hair-raising! Local Spar, 10 mins walk for basics. We travelled to Liskeard for a choice of takeaways (covid restrictions meant no restaurants for us). Overall - this is a place for leisurely breakfasts, overlooking wonderful views. Taking it easy in the hot tub with a glass of wine ( plastic glasses for outside use included)! If you are looking for low pace and total peace- this is a great base. If you need a bit of life, you will have to drive to it ( although there is a carvery pub about 15 mins walk away). I would book again and that's the bottom line. We had a lovely time. After 5 days - we wanted to stay longer.

  • "I booked directly with you and the lady on the phone found the lodge for us - she was amazingly helpful."

The lodge was gorgeous and spotlessly clean also Very pleased to see the spa was checked every couple of days and totally emptied when we left ready for next visitors - really reassuring. The kitchen was very well appointed and the decor was high standard. The only things we commented on were black out curtains or blinds would’ve been good in the bedrooms and a patio heater or two would have made it perfect. We were very lucky as Meadow Retreat is not yet complete so we were not overlooked at all - I think when all spaces are sold it will feel less special and a little more crowded but for now it is amazing. Would highly recommend and will book with you again for sure - thank you for an amazing week and was so good to finally be able to enjoy away after all this time.

  • "The lodge was brilliant as was the location."

Unfortunately the cleanliness and maintenance requires attention. One of the curtain rail supports was coming away from the wall, the wine cooler was not working. I had to go and buy anti bacterial cleaner to clean the appliances as there was finger prints all over them when we arrived. I found cigarette roll up papers on the shelf and the was no internal soft headed broom to sweep the wooden floors. All the windows on the outside were filthy they had not been cleaned fora while.

The extra bits added in eg the coffee, tea, milk, wash sponge & clothe were a lovely added extra. We have only just got back and are thinking of rebooking for December already! The added extra that I wish was there is a Woolley blanket to have to throw on while laying on the sofa as the winter colder months can get quite chilly.

The location was perfect for us and the lodge was spacious, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean There was everything we needed, from excellent Wi-Fi, a very well equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, clothes airer, Netflix and a wine fridge! The owners have really thought of everything, which made the holiday so much easier. We weren't particularly lucky with the weather, so the hot tub was a definite family favourite and got plenty of use!

  • "This lodge is the perfect getaway and is even more stunning in real life."

From the private hot tub, you can see nothing but an expanse of green fields and the view is breathtaking. On days where you just want to relax, this lodge has everything you need. High quality sun loungers, peace and quiet, wine cooler - even your own pond. The site is so spacious that we didn’t see (or hear) any other residents until the day we packed to leave. The decor is beautiful and all the equipment is high quality. It was so nice to return home without washing as we used the washer/dryer to bring home suitcases of clean clothes; this made leaving this gorgeous place less depressing. Nearby there is a spar for any shopping and the A38 to take you wherever you want to go in Cornwall. The welcome pack gives you suggestions of activities and local attractions and the complimentary toiletries in the master en-suite were a nice touch. Would highly recommend this lodge to everyone. Thank you Charter Oak!

  • "The place was absolutely brilliant!"

My family bought household essentials with us such as iron and hair dryer ect, however the the place had everything you needed and didn't need to bring anything at all. It was only me, my partner and my 9 month old son ,they had a brand new cot and highchair there ready to be used. The owners literally thought of everything that every family has at home needed and more. Local shop was less a few minutes away by car and the beach and town was about a 10minutes away. I couldn't fault the place. Its the first time we have booked with Sykes and will definitely book again! The booking and communication service leading to our breakaway was smooth and clear sailing. The picture of the place online doesn't do it justice, its 100% even better when you're there.Extremly happy customer and looking forward to using Sykes again for our next breakaway.

The decor was very much to our taste and felt like a home from home. Everything had been thought of regarding tea, coffee, sugar etc but if staying longer than 3 days it’s best to bring your own. They have a high chair and travel cot there and also had a hair dryer which saved me bringing mine. The hot tub was a firm favourite with all the family especially the kids in morning and night. The sounds of the birds whilst drinking your morning coffee overlooking the pond is what holidays are all about. You can’t get much better than this for location and a home from home stay. We loved staying here so much that we are hoping to book it for a week next summer. We would highly recommend.
