  • "Fantastic stay, beautiful location and very welcoming host."

Stairs a little tricky for older people or young children too but no real problem for us.

  • "Beautiful location."

Cottage was very pretty had all we needed, with a few buts. Uncomfortable beds with thin mattresses and thin quilt. The cottage felt cold, radiators on for short time no controls on our side. We had to use the electric fan heater overnight in bedroom . The listing failed to mention low ceiling and narrow rickety stairs, which we found awkward, especially at night. Hot water was limited for bath but chilly for shower. We spent a lot of time in evening reassuring our dog as she could hear movement behind the connecting door to the owners cottage. We met the lovely owner in middle of our stay and she turned heating up a bit. The cottage is very pretty the location is fabulous, but needs new mattresses and bedding.

Thanks for the feedback. New mattresses which were on order for the beds have now been installed on the double though still waiting for the singles to be delivered. There were extra quilts in the drawers under the beds; we should have pointed this out. It is possible to override the controls for the immersion heater for hot water if more is required. The timer is in the cupboard in the bathroom. The shower temperature control just needed turning up higher. The property, well over 120 years old, has narrow stairs and low ceilings in parts as was standard for the period it was built. I am sorry if you found this inconvenient. Property Owner

  • "Bramble Cottage exceeded our expectations, especially the location and quirkiness of the cottage."

Listing-wise, perhaps more could be made of the location, being on the edge of the small nature reserve, and very quiet and peaceful, yet within easy reach of the beaches and Hayle etc. We would definitely recommend this cottage, and hope to return ourselves one day.

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
