  • "What a beautiful house very spacious."

With my work I look after disabled people and this holiday was for them. It gave them loads of space, my only niggle was that the downstairs ensuite shower was the smallest, which made it hard for them to shower. The host have thought of everything, with a welcoming scones jam and cream. I would love to book again

  • "WOW what a beautiful house we loved our stay here."

Stunning property with amazing views so much space for a large family. We were a mix of young, middle aged adults and pensioners and my dog, it was great for all. The games room was a huge bonus. My only comment we could be that a roadside mirror would be beneficial as it is not easy to see pulling out of the drive. We loved our stay and would definitely return and highly recommend

  • "Nice and very clean house, very airy."

Lovely views through patio doors to the garden and the sea beyond. Some really nice extras such as Bbq, flowers, cream tea, body boards, milk etc. The only let downs, a couple of small, but important niggles.... For one thing the toilet pan in the downstairs en suite was loose and wobbled precariously! And also the shelf was a bit loose. Also, downstairs family bathroom didn't drain at all well, very slow. Other than this, we had an amazing family holiday and highly recommend Fairways.

  • "From the moment we arrived after 6 hour drive, we all felt at home xx Facilities fantastic."

We were a diverse group. 3 people had never met. 1 x couple, and 4 singles, 2 small children and 1 x dog. Our holiday was amazing. We did spend every evening by one at the house. We loved the space, we cooked every evening….and everyone was happy. We spent many an hour in the games room, had champion ship darts, pool and table tennis. Would thoroughly recommend Fairways to any family group. There is a moving coping stone at the front of the patio. One of the children did fall off this. We moved the garden furniture forward to stop any more mishaps. Wonderful house, I would like to live there

We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your visit to Fairways. The patio wall was re-cemented at the beginning of the summer so we are surprised to hear that 1 of the stones is already loose. We will of course attend to this at our earliest convenience. Property Owner

  • "We had a couple of issues while we were staying at the property."

One very windy night, we struggled to sleep as a piece of guttering had become loose, this was banging every time the wind blew, reported to the caretaker and resolved the same day, so thank you. We lost water pressure with the cold water one evening, taps were dry, we decided not to report it- to see what the situation was in the morning, we went to bed and was resolved in the morning. The major issue for me was on the day of departure, i was showering and the water (hot and cold) stopped, i had conditioner on my hair and all lathered up, there was no way to rinse this as all taps/showers were not working. Reported to the caretaker, and we turned the hot water pump off as it would have caused more damage. By the time we left the property (one hour later) the water had returned, but this caused a bit of stress for me as we were rushing to leave the property and i couldn't even have a decent shower on the last day, before travelling 3 hours home?? we informed the caretaker that it had come back on, he did not respond. The property was lovely and suited our needs, we had a lovely week. very well equipped, bright light and airy. The benefit of a drying room/utility room on a windy/rainy week was great.

Thank you for your review., we are pleased you had a good holiday. Unfortunately the issues you had with the water were caused by work being carried out by South West Water. This affected a number of the local properties and was beyond our control. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property in a great location but on a very busy road making it very precarious driving in and out of the property."

More shade in the garden would be an asset as would blinds on the upstairs bathroom and kitchen doors as the heat was pretty unbearable in the exceptional weather we had. Having said this we really enjoyed our stay. We had a couple of minor issues whilst staying but these were resolved quickly by the owner.

Thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed the holiday. The house is situated on a single track country road which can have increased traffic levels during the summer months and care is needed exiting the driveway. We are sorry you were too hot and the additional sail and umbrella stand we bought down during your stay didn’t help. Unfortunately with such high temperatures recently it is very difficult to keep any property cool Property Owner

  • "The house is even more beautiful than the pictures."

It was perfect for us. It had just about everything we needed. It was immaculately clean and it was is excellent condition. The garden is really safe and even the grass was mowed during our stay. Our 2 year old granddaughter had wonderful afternoons in the garden with a paddling pool we brought with us and we spent our evening round the large dining table playing cards and just having fun. Just a couple of small points if I was being really picky would be a hose pipe on hand to fill small pool, bbq utensils and some sort of shade in the garden. This is in no way a negative just an observation. We had the best time in bude and the house made it really special family time.

It was perfect for us and felt like a home from home. The property is sited in a row of properties on a country lane around farm land. The kitchen is well equipped Kitchen for cooking meal for a large group and plenty of crockery and glasses etc we didn't run out. The deco is lovely, lounge was comfy, outdoor space is great for playing games and enjoying the sunshine. We saw beautiful skys at sunsets, birds regularly visit the garden and you can see the sea at the horizon. The Games room was a lot of fun too. Everyone commented how great the property was for our needs. Bude is a great place to visit, there are several beaches in close proximity . We walked the coast path from the border (Devon/Cornwall) to Bude - strenuous going in parts but beautiful. We would highly recommend this property.

Thank you so much for a lovely review. We are so glad that you had a good holiday and that the property gave you everything you needed. Look forward to seeing you back in the future Property Owner

  • "We had a beautiful week in Fairways."

The house, garden and sea view were amazing. Our daughter learnt to play darts and pool in the games room and our dogs loved the garden, we’ve renamed the mound as Normans mount, our little dog just loved sitting on the mount surveying the fields. The house was perfect, spoilt with which bedroom to choose and which bathroom to use, and the kitchen diner was perfect. We loved relaxing with the fire in the sitting room in the evening. As for going out, we enjoyed all of the beaches, the coastal walks, Boscastle and Clovelly being our highlights❤️ Had a lovely lunch at the olive tree and walked along the canal. We were very lucky with the weather and had the most beautiful sunsets considering the forecast. We would love to come again and hope to do so.

The only 3 very small things I think could be improved are; a wardrobe in the twin room downstairs is needed, curtains in the bedrooms downstairs instead of blinds, and blinds in the main bathroom upstairs are needed, even though it’s a lovely open view of the sea, the shower is exposed to the garden. Everything else was perfect, clean and just what we needed. Thankyou!

Plenty of space and an excellent games room that we all enjoyed using. My only reservation was that in sunny weather the lounge and dining areas get uncomfortably hot as there no curtains or blinds for the very large windows.

  • "Overall the stay at the House was lovely and anyone having a holiday here would be really pleased with the beautiful scenery around, seeing and hearing the sea in the distance was such a bonus."

The decor and overall feel of the house was very nice indeed. However, there were some minor 'snags' which will need attending to for the benefit of future visitors. There is a topping stone in the patio area out in the back garden which needs re-cementing in place as it is completely loose. The Fridge in the kitchen needs anchoring in securely as it tips forward when you open the door. The same goes for the toilet in the ensuite in the downstairs bedroom which was also loose and needs screwing to the floor. Some of my guests staying with me stated that some of the bedding, albeit clean, was torn - a bedsheet and a duvet cover. To enter the property, the key was very tricky to use. It was hard to extract it from the lock once you had opened the door. The heated towel rail in the Main Bedroom did not work; the rest of the bathroom towel rails in the other bathrooms did. These are small things which can easily be remedied, keeping this beautiful house a place where people will enjoy visiting.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Fairways and you had a good holiday. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The issues you have raised have all since been repaired and I have spoken to our housekeeper to ensure that linen used will always be of a good quality and not damaged The towel rail in the main bedroom is connected to the central heating so will only come on if the heating is on. It has been tested and is in good working order The front door key has also been replaced although when it was tested it worked fine but a new one is now in place just in case Property Owner

Just a couple of points. The kitchen and lounge have large patio windows ( which are lovely) but they need some curtains or blinds as did get very hot. Bottle shelf in fridge door was broken and washing machine drained onto patio. I did make the caretaker aware. These points easily fixed and would be perfect.

  • "A delight to stay in such a beautiful, clean and well-equiped house."

The owners obviously have excellent taste. A couple of niggles: We suggest better lighting in the lounge. It was a little dark and the rest of the house didn’t lack for excellent lighting. Outdoors didn’t quite match the general very high standard and I’m sure this will be sorted for next spring, as the house was only new on your site. (The grass needed mowing, especially for very young children to enjoy, the rotary washing line needed replacing, and some comfy relaxing furniture would be appreciated). All in all a great property with gorgeous views which we’d love to return to.

Thank you for your comments and we are so pleased you enjoyed your time at Fairways. All feedback is welcomed, and we always take on board any comments made. We did make the decision to have softer lighting in the lounge to compliment the lighting throughout the rest of the house but are sorry if you found it a little dark. The washing line will be replaced on my next visit. The grass was cut shortly before your visit, but the alternating warm and wet weather has been perfect for growing. We will endeavour to keep on top of it as the weather permits. There is a picnic bench but do understand this may not have been the type of relaxing furniture you would have liked. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we would love to welcome you back to Fairways. Property Owner

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
