  • "Running waters is basic of basic accommodation."

Lack of kitchen ware and utilities. Could do with a lick of paint, beds uncomfortable as I had to sleep on the sofa. Should do with a general overhaul, broken latches or in 1 bedroom there wasn't one.

Sorry running waters did not meet your expectations. Beds are a personal preference as are pillows and settees. The owners have had lots of positive feedback over a long summer. The owners are sorry the property wasn't for you. Property Owner

  • "Overall the property was lovely however a few snags, the pillows were really hard to the extent that we had to go out and buy our own."

The carpet gripper in the larger twin room was sticking through the carpet in the doorway and also towards the back of the stairs. My husband got pranged in both these places. You need to leave space in some the kitchen cupboards for the guests food items.

Glad you enjoyed Running Waters, apart from a couple of snags. The lodge has new carpets throughout so will get this checked as we were unaware of this. We feel that pillows are personal preference, as are settees and mattresses, and your comments regarding kitchen cupboards have been notated. Thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed the stay and the cottage was very well equipped."

To make improvements I would suggest 2 things. Make it clear that the nearest village is not within walking distance and you need a car. The accommodation really needs WiFi. We had to go to reception to use it which was a challenge for my husbands work, our 2 teenagers and looking anything up like things to do. Otherwise a lovely accommodation and site.

Glad you had a lovely holiday and loved the lodge. Regarding the Wi-Fi as our details advise." WiFi available in restaurant and pool area - If you are looking for super fast broadband this may not be the area you are looking for .The 4g coverage is better than the 0.8 speed offered from the mobile broadband supplier But if you are looking for a relaxing holiday in an area of outstanding natural beauty, ideal for exploring Devon and Cornwall With on-site indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a pub that offers excellent food then this is the holiday for you. • "Many thanks to Julie and Steve for a lovely stay."

It was a pleasant relaxing environment, very quiet spot amongst the trees and immaculately presented. All the facilities that you may need were provided, the owners sent a text to ask if we were ok and if there was anything else we needed. If I had to think of a negative; not a fault of the owners, but a shame that the site facilities were limited due to Covid. Obviously quite understandable

The site is looking tired, but is still calm and pleasant

  • "We all really enjoyed our stay here."

The lodge was very clean and comfortable. However, the tv really does need a booster aerial as some evenings the reception was virtually non-existent - continually breaking up and losing both sound and vision. It's a pity, as this was the only negative, although wi-fi would have been appreciated.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Running Waters. I believe you had stormy weather during your holiday and this had affected the TV signal. This has now been sorted so thank you for letting us know. Also, as explained in the property description, this is an area of outstanding natural beauty and the WiFi is not sustainable as only a mobile WiFi signal, which has been down for last 3 weeks. The 4G is often more reliable. Thank you again for your positive feedback. Property Owner

I will definitely book again,it is a home from home, everything you needed was there, both my grandchildren (2 &6) loved it,even with covid restrictions we all had a fantastic time,we ended up with the pool to ourselves, pub was clean, friendly and food was lovely. It was clean on arrival with a welcome gift left in the kitchen. The holiday park was very central to the places we wanted to visit on our trip. We would definitely look at going back.

  • "Site itself nice, really friendly staff, and great to have a pub and swimming pool on site."

Food at pub was good too. Pool area clean. Sadly the games room was shut due to Covid, and most of the local attractions also (spent a fair few hours following brown tourist signs to find them not open). The accommodation itself was tired and could have done with a deep clean (found crumbs on the dining chairs), and the main bathroom smelt really damp. The beds were surprisingly comfy, despite feeling the springs (could have done with a mattress topper, but miles better than a sweaty, saggy foam mattress), but the bottom of the beds were a bit grubby. We do normally go for no-pets allowed accommodation for this reason. Would have been nice to have WiFi as phone signal really poor.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are very surprised to hear your comments on the cleaning of the lodge. You only have to look at the previous feedback and We have excellent reports on how clean the lodge is. Also when we text you to see if everything thing was ok. You replied lovely thanks. We are still in talks with the mobile Wi-Fi company trying to get a sustainable speed. Because of the location this is proving very difficult and often the 4g signal is better than the mobile wifi. Sorry the lodge did not meet your expectations. Property Owner

Good location to other Cornish places. Double bed could do with a matress topper as it was a bit hard. The other beds were very comfortable. Right next to the swimming pool and pub. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • "The cottage was very nice."

Although it looks small from the outside it's deceptively large inside. A good sized living and dining room, a well equipped kitchen and 3 very good sized bedrooms make this a very comfortable place to stay. We thought the inclusion of a vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board, travel cot and sun lounger makes the house feel homely. The facilities on site were excellent, the park is clean and tidy and everyone we met were friendly, and is ideally situated with Plymouth 20 mins away and tavistock and Launceston close by too. I think the only thing that would have made our holiday perfect is if we had WiFi in the cottage. This would be especially helpful for booking attractions online as the 4G signal was poor at best.

Thank you for your positive feedback . We are talks at the moment with the Broadband supplier but because of the rural location the broadband is not sustainable and speed is so slow. The 4g signal is often more reliable that the broadband. We are glad you enjoyed your holiday at Running Waters and loved the lodge and location. Property Owner

  • "Running waters lodge was clean, well equiped and good value for money."

Just one small addition would make a lot of difference..... the lighting in the double bedroom (main room) was harsh and not cosy. It would benefit greatly by a couple of bedside lamps. I did transfer the one in the living area and it made it much more comfortable.I did return it to the living area on our day of departure! The maintenance of the whole site could do with a tidy as the grass was long and bits of rubbish around and weeds in the front pebbles. The property next door is empty and scruffy which doesn't help! In summary,a few minor adjustments would make it even better than it was. We had a wonderful holiday in beautiful weather and enjoyed our stay there.Thank you.

The lodge has everything you need. A home from home. All the appliances you need. The washing machine was great as I was able to wash the clothes we'd worn before I went back. Constant hot water. Beautiful scenery, set just infront of a pretty stream that my children loved. Comfy beds and cosy rooms. With soft pillows and fresh bedding. I spoke to owners before we left and via text on our return and they are helpful and friendly. 100% returning next year. Did not want to come home

  • "Apart from the poor quality of the shower, everything was excellent."

Location is excellent and we were very comfortable. I would not recommend the chalet for anyone with balance problems or poor mobility as the path to the lodge would be difficult to negotiate

We value your feed back and have now replaced the shower and this runs perfectly. We are confused with the suitability of the path comment as the path runs on the flat. We can only assume you took the short cut down the bank. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Running Waters and Hope to see you again Regards Julie and Steve. Property Owner

  • "Really lovely cottage and very well kitted out, brilliant location with lots to do with small children."

The only thing I would like to recommend would be a stairgate at the top of the stairs as they open into the living space upstairs (it could be fastened back against the wall when not needed) as we have a small crawling baby who had to be watched constantly because of the open stairs and we ended up wedging a chair across the top! Otherwise we had a lovely time, thank you.

Hi, glad you enjoyed your stay at running waters. We value your feedback and have now installed a retractable stair gate for the little ones safety. We hope to see you again at running waters. Property Owner

About the location

CALLINGTON

Tavistock 9 miles; Launceston 11.5 miles, Plymouth 14.6 miles.

Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound. Callington is set in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers a good selection of shops, inns and cafes, as well as being the home of Ginsters Cornish pasties. A few miles away, the quaint village of Calstock clings to the steep banks of the river Tamar and is dominated by the splendid Calstock Railway Viaduct, a giant 11-arched stone construction supporting one of Britain’s most picturesque branch lines running through the Tamar Valley. Other interesting places along the river are Cotehele, a beautiful historic house and gardens owned by the National Trust with a small quay and inn, and Morwhellam Quay, a theme park that staged a living history production for the BBC and where visitors can explore the rich mining heritage and watch blacksmiths, potters and craftsmen at work. The pannier market town of Tavistock is only nine miles from Callington and is well worth a visit on your way to a day’s walk on Dartmoor. A splendid base to explore south Cornwall and West Devon.
