“Fantastic holiday, accommodation remote, views amazing.”

Owner Christopher was lovely and very helpful. We loved the location and the accommodation. Will certainly revisit. Great location for Fowey, Looe, Polperro to name but a few.

The property

Fowey 2.6 miles via the Bodinnick Ferry.

This converted chapel is a unique retreat based in the small town of Lanteglos, close to Fowey and in the heart of what is considered Du Maurier Country on the South Coast of Cornwall.

Hosting three bedrooms, The Old Chapel welcomes families and friends seeking a rural getaway with easy access to the attractions of South Cornwall.

Relax in the sitting room with the large gothic style windows providing superb rural views, or make use of the wall-mounted TV for a family movie night.

The kitchen/diner can be found in a mezzanine area just above the sitting room, complete with a selection of appliances and a dining table for all to gather round.

Each of the bedrooms are thoughtfully furnished to provide comfortable sleeping areas, with a choice of two doubles, one with a convenient en-suite shower room, or the twin room which is perfect for the little ones.

There is also an attractive bathroom which features an alluring Jacuzzi bath, so you can enjoy a soothing soak to help recover from a day of rambling the outdoors.

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy exploring Cardinham Woods, offering excellent walking opportunities deep into the woods and an activity trail for the younger ones.

Head into the town of Fowey and you will have plenty to see and do – visit the aquarium, museum and St Catherine’s Castle, or explore a host of gardens and stately homes, offering something for everyone.

Sandy beaches await at Readymoney Cove to the south or Polkerris and Par Sands are firm favourites.

The picturesque Lerryn with it's pub, stepping stones and picnic area is a worthy visit.

The Old Chapel is a lovely base with plenty to occupy your time.

About the location

FOWEY

Lostwithiel 8 miles; Polperro 8 miles

This small town and civil parish lies at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall. The estuary of the River Fowey forms a natural harbour, which enabled the town to become an important trading centre. There is a wealth of things to see and do in and around the harbour. Whether you enjoy getting out on the water, playing golf or finding out more about the history of the area, you are sure to find something to suit the whole family. Harbour cruises leave the Town Quay regularly in season giving you a superb view of the town, but for the more adventurous, rent your own self-drive boat, kayak or paddle board and explore the waters for yourselves! The town is steeped in history, so why not join a guided tour of either Fowey or Polruan? You can even join an owl experience, play golf, go horse riding or pursue your artistic talents with pottery or painting courses. There is the aquarium, museum and St Catherine's Castle, as well as Readymoney Cove, all waiting to be explored. If you get peckish, or fancy something thirst quenching along the way, there is a plethora of pubs, inns, cafes and restaurants to choose. Whenever you plan to visit, keep a look out for the festivals, fairs, markets and theatre performances on throughout the year. There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Discover them all from this fantastic base!
