  • "A very good house perfect for our needs--our only quibbles would be a) the other properties had a wooden table and chairs outside their properties for dining etc--that would have been good--also the washing machine situation was a bit tiresome--first it didn't work and then it required large numbers of £1 coins to keep it working--also a very minor point it might be good to have a couple of plates/cups for very young children as the crockery was excellent but a bit nerve wracking with a 2 year old!"

We will be getting some outdoor furniture soon. Regarding the communal washing machine that doesn't belong to us and is a bit outside our control. However it is possible that might change in the future and resolve any potential problems. I think your point about crockery for very young children is a good idea and will follow through on that. Thank you for your feedback- always useful and we would love to welcome you back. Kind regards Bernard Webber Property Owner

  • "The property was dirty and and not been cleaned properly."

Dirt by the sinks and shxt by the toilet. The outside furniture was old and rusty, so we tried to clean but unable to use. There was ongoing building works all week, which we were never informed of before we arrived. We will not return and believe we are due compensation. Very disappointing.

Disappointed to hear that your stay wasn't in line with your expectations. I am surprised to hear your comments about the cleaning. Our cleaner is very diligent and would have been very upset to hear your comments. If you had rung the number we provide within 24 hours of your arrival to raise the issue, she would have responded and checked it out immediately. Most other guests do comment how clean and tidy the cottage is. The table and chairs outside were never designed to be left outside but should have been put away by previous visitors. I gather that on several days your family were sitting on the grass enjoying the shade of our neighbour's Liquid Amber Tree. Regarding the noise you mentioned I have checked and none of the other guests who were in the other cottages the week you were there have reported any noise problems. There were some locals dealing with a fallen Beech tree with a chainsaw for several days which we would never have been aware of and is outside our control. Most guests who have had major issues would report them straightaway and take photos if necessary rather than return home and then complain. I hope you find somewhere suitable to stay in future that meets your expectations. Regards Bernard Webber Property Owner

  • "I have marked down cleanliness and maintenance for The Byre because the cottage smelt musty when we arrived, the wardrobes and drawers smelt musty too, but better after we let them air."

The oven was dirty/greasy. The windows needed a good clean and the dead leaves needed to be swept away from the front door (this was in June!) Also the TV stand looked like it was about to collapse under the weight of the TV. Lovely cottage, but just needed a bit of TLC. The grounds were gorgeous and all with easy reach of footpaths and amenities. Despite these few thing which could easily be fixed, we would stay here again. I just felt I needed to be honest.

Thank you for your comments. Yes as you were the first guest for a while I understand that it smelled musty and that doesn't happen when there are back to back bookings as there are now. The cottage is cleaned to a good standard but have asked for the oven to be given extra attention inside and have asked for the window cleaner to be attend again. I'm afraid the wind can just blow the leaves from elsewhere at any time. Yes will look at replacing the TV table but can assure you that it has always been so and would not collapse. Thank you for your constructive comments and would love to welcome you back. Kind regards Bernard Webber Property Owner

Peace & quiet before exploring the wonders of Cornwall & relaxing following a strenuous day. Highly recommendable. As a non driver maybe a little arduous on the footsies but this site is second to none in my experience, everything first class. Top marks with credit. James Avenell

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Byre, a charming cottage in Camelford."

The property was very comfortable and cosy, with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and spacious living room. The cottage was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, with a lot of character and charm. We especially enjoyed the log burner, which added to the warmth and ambience of the place. The cottage was located in a quiet and peaceful area, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It was a great base to explore the attractions in north Cornwall and the stunning beaches and coastal paths. Camelford itself was a quaint and friendly town, with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants nearby. We also appreciated the helpful information and tips included in the welcome folder. We would highly recommend Byre to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday in Cornwall. We had a lovely stay and hope to return soon.

Thank you so much for your feedback. It's great to know that you liked the cottage and had a wonderful stay. We would look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards Bernard & Rosemary Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay in Byre, it had everything we needed but there were one or two little 'niggles' - like the toaster not working which meant having to use the grill on the cooker BUT I had to clean the grill pan first before I could use it!"

The oven was much better, either. I did leave a note for the cleaner and told her that I'd had to clean the hob as well! Overall, it's a lovely spot and the cottages are set in pretty landscaped grounds which are well tended.

Thank you for your feedback. Always appreciated. Sorry to hear about the toaster but had you reported the "malfunction" we could certainly have sorted that out during your stay. However thank you for reporting it and for leaving the cleaner a note. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay in Byre Cottage. Kind regards Bernard & Rosemary Webber Property Owner

  • "Lovely accommodation and beautiful setting."

Only complaint we had was the mattress in the on suite bedroom was too soft and played our backs up. Also the fridge was leaking all the time onto the kitchen floor and if there were six people staying in the accommodation the fridge would not be big enough .But I must say again it was a really lovely place and we really enjoyed it and hopefully we will come back.

Thank you for your nice feedback. Always good to hear them. Sorry to hear about the mattress in the en-suite bedroom. Mattresses are always quite subjective . What suits one person doesn't always suit another. These mattresses were chosen for their "medium firmness" but we accept that some may find that a bit too soft. We have asked for the fridge to be looked at. It is possible that the drainage hole might have been slightly blocked/covered. We would certainly love to welcome you back again. • "We had a nice holiday and the property was ok but I wouldn’t go back."

Property wants a really good clean, floor is peeling up in dining area causing feet injury. Feels a bit like the minimum has been done. Wi-Fi is poor. Washing machines are pay only which is fine but they don’t work properly and seem pretty old and rusty. Games room needs an update with pool table not working. Grounds are well maintained though.

I know this is quite a long time to respond but wanted to check and correct where necessary. We have now had a completely new floor laid throughout the lounge as repairing the couple of sections that had lifted wasn't an option. The wi-fi has been checked and location moved and is now downloading at 77Mbps which for this area in Cornwall is excellent! Sorry to hear that the washing machines were not working properly but they are now. They don't come under our jurisdiction I'm afraid as they are a communal item for the complex but we do feed back the necessary comments. Similarly the Games room is a communal item but we chose not to advertise it. The property undergoes a thorough clean prior to each letting but your comments were passed to our cleaners We would like to thank you for your comments and hope we have explained our actions.
