  • "Looked clean on entering but surface clean only."

    Needs deep clean. Only one cupboard useable for our food as the other one was broken. Sofas cushions had dog hairs, not nice. Shower leaking every time we used it, do not seamed to be sealed. Two three seater sofas but no coffee tables!!!!!!!!! Only six hangers for four people, unbelievable. No curtains on ground floor so keep the very strong sun out(in heat wave) Windows and doors locks need attending to, all were hard to open and close, never managed to close either of the bathrooms doors all week. Needs to get a man to sort would only take a couple of hours. Could not sit garden as no umbrella available. Property is bland and soulless. Could be a great property with just a little thought and care. Great village pub and shop and very interesting area to visit.

  • "This is an attractive property in the beautiful village of Edith Weston."

    The house is situated on a quiet lane but it is a short walk to the pub and village shop. It is also a short walk to the shoreline of lovely Rutland Water. We had some great wildlife sightings in the local nature reserves, including Ospreys and Otters. We also enjoyed many walks in the area and, on the days that were too hot to walk, we enjoyed relaxing in the house with the patio door open. The owners had also provided a large electric fan which was great for helping us keep cool during the hottest temperatures. In the evenings it was nice to have the patio area and be able to sit out and listen to the birdsong. Although the large kitchen area was perfect for cooking we also enjoyed eating out at the Normanton Park Hotel, which is a two minute drive away, and at The Fox in North Luffenham. We had a wonderful holiday.

  • "This is a very attractive-looking house, recently built in the local style, and it fits well in its surroundings."

    Edith Weston is a delightful village in which we enjoyed strolling round the lanes several times. It was a real bonus to be able to walk to the shore of Rutland Water so easily. The pub was welcoming and the village shop well-stocked. We love Rutland and very much hope to return. One point to make is that we were very surprised to find as we stripped the beds on leaving that there were no mattress protectors in place, nor pillow protectors on the double bed. These pillows were stained and need laundering at least, if not replacing.

  • "Our overall stay was great loved the village and great food at the Wheatsheaf pub."

    Did find it was not secure enough for the dog he could get through to next door up the steps Cleanliness was not too good all windows was dirty. There was dust webs in every room behind the bed some bed pillows need replacing as badly stained as was the mattress kitchen cupboards needed a wipe out also the patio and patio furniture needed cleaning as was green

  • "The cottage is clean and comfortable and ideally situated for local amenities - pub and shop, and sightseeing."

    The owners are friendly and helpful. It would be helpful to have an information pack about how the appliances work, and a fully functioning television ( despite help from the owner we could only get BBC iplayer!). Curtains or blinds on the windows downstairs would give a cosier feel at night. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage as a comfortable base to explore the area ( and for seeing Ospreys at the nearby bird reserve)

  • "A really lovely cottage, in a delightful village."

    Perfect for walks with our dogs. We loved our stay at the cottage, it was warm, comfort and had everything we needed. We also loved Rutland, it’s a beautiful area. The only concern for us was that there was a step into next doors garden, so our dogs could just walk straight into it. There was nobody there during our stay but we had to constantly keep an eye on the dogs Our smallest dog also got out under the gate. We loved our holiday at 9 Rectory Lane, would highly recommend.

  • "Excellent accommodation."

    Good provision of equipment in kitchen and throws for sofas for those of us who allow our dogs on the furniture. Plus stairgates to prevent them going upstairs. Would benefit from an information pack, then I wouldn't have needed to contact owner (who was swift to respond). A broom would have been handy (not as bendy as I used to be for dustpan and brush sadly!) as would an extra tea towel. Only issue for us is that the garden isn't really enclosed. Between this property and next door there is a hedge in progress (just bare sticks atm) and a gate less step/opening which was fair game to our two dogs. Couldn't really work out why it was there. But saying that, we worked round it and have already booked again for next year. Lovely area and walks straight from property.

    Quiet and peaceful, lots to do in the area. Enclosed garden and tiled downstairs floor good for dogs.

  • "Superb property a stone throw from Rutland Water with great walks and other outdoor activities."

    The cottage itself is warm, comfortable and has everything you need. Beds are super comfy and nice linens/towels etc. Location wise the property is ideal for Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford but also has a great village store! We highly recommend and would happily stay again.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay."

    Had all the things we needed for cooking meals. Lovely country pubs and walks nearby. Rutland water is a must. Although it was November we were certainly toastie in the evenings. Also very quiet and peaceful to be able to distress. Owners made us welcome. Thanks for a great visit.

    It is newly built and contained everything you needed for a great stay. It was much bigger than we expected and the owners were on hand for any assistance if required. We would certainly stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property to friends and family. Thank you for sharing your house with us.

  • "Our stay at 9 Rectory Lane was very enjoyable, so much so that we extended it by 2 more nights."

    We had a comfortable, quiet time made even more pleasant by the location and the very friendly people of Edith Weston. There were a couple of very minor niggles that the lovely owners will address which is only to be expected in a newly listed property. The convenience of a nearby good pub and village shop was another advantage, not to mention the walks from the door and the nearby fields for the dog to enjoy. There are a host of places to visit and activities in the area. We loved it so much that we are already considering another visit and tempted to move to the area. I am loathed to write this review as it will probably make the availability of a return more restricted. In summary, loved it, can't wait to return.

  • "We absolutely loved 9 Rectory Lane."

    Edith Weston is a quintessential country village a few minutes walk from the shoreline of Rutland Water. Thatched roofs, cottage gardens, church bells ringing and the lovely Wheatsheaf village pub. Our visit was in May to see the ospreys, we had warm weather and some gorgeous sunsets. The cottage is furnished & decorated beautifully. Everything from the bedding, towels, kitchen applicances and mattresses are of the highest quality. The large kitchen, diner, lounge means that everyone can be together whether cooking or relaxing and there is plenty of space. There is a double room, a twin room and a family bathroom with bath upstairs. Downstairs has a shower room if you prefer. The cottage would suit a family, couples or a group of friends. You can sit outside and enjoy the sun in the front garden or you can sit in the lounge with the patio doors wide open. The lane itself is so peaceful and we enjoyed hours of birdsong. We had the most relaxing week and would love to return.

The small quaint village with its friendly residents, well stocked local store, inviting pub and Cotswoldian brick is a great place to relax and unwind.

Park up on the gravelled driveway and drop your bags in the welcoming entrance hall, before stepping into the inviting open-plan ground-floor which offers guests into a light and airy living space.

Oakham is the delightful county town of Rutland, and is a great place to visit and spend a holiday. It is filled with pretty stone and thatched buildings and offers something for everyone, it's a great family holiday destination. The town centre offers a good range of shops, restaurants and bars to choose from as well as a local history museum, a 12th century castle and a 14th century church adding real character and beauty. To the outskirts of the town sits one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe in the Rutland Water Nature Reserve which offers watersports, a small water adventure park, a bird watching fair, sailing club and fishing facilities for you outdoor people. There is also Rutland Water Golf Course overlooking the lake.
