  • "Tawny cottage was beautiful."

We loved how clean and comfortable everything was. It was also spacious and light with everything we needed. The location was also great and we had dinner at the carpenters arms and went on some lovely local walks. We would love to visit again and see more of the Cotswolds. Thank you for making us feel so at home

Thank you for taking time to leave such a lovely review. We’re really glad that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, very comfortable and extremely well equipped."

We stayed during a very cold week and the cottage was beautifully warm. Our dog particularly enjoyed the safety of the enclosed garden. Would happily stay here again sometime in the future.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and very happy to hear you had a wonderful stay. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Property was nearly perfect for our family of 5 adults and 2 children."

My one grumble would be that the fridge is way too small for the size of house. Could barely get the milk and wine in ..never mind the food. On the plus side it was good to see a butter dish and toast tongs which are often missing from holiday lets. Great quiet location with easy 15 minute walk into Burford.

Thank you for your feedback.we will take this in to consideration . We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Tawny cottage Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Hi there. Thanks for a fabulous stay."

The only thing we can think of that might improve the house is for more than two tea towels to be provided and perhaps a bit more wood for the hot tub but other than that, it was perfect for our requirements!

Thank you for taking time to give feedback on your stay at Tawny Cottage. We're really pleased that it worked well for you as a place to stay and appreciate your suggestions. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "The only thing we would recommend would be the addition of a few egg cups!"

A couple of our party fancied a boiled egg once or twice, and there was nothing to put them in, Also, there was a dripping tap in the kitchen when we arrived. As the kitchen is integrated with the living area this was obviously something that was annoying, although when I reported it after a couple of days of thinking that it might stop it was fixed the same morning.

Thank you so much for your feedback and for giving Tawny Cottage a perfect score. We are sorry about the oversight on supplying egg cups and have now added some to the kitchen. But we're glad the issue with the dripping tap was sorted out quickly. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "This home was lovely for our group of 4 kids and 4 adults, and somehow was nicer in person than the photos suggested."

The property is in a great location, and had everything we could have needed, including linens, kitchen wares, and games for the kids. Check-in was easy. The only thing that could have improved my experience is an option for trip protection/cancellation for international guests. All in all I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to have a lovely stay in the Cotswalds.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such lovely feedback on your stay at Tawny Cottage. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your time away and we appreciate your suggestions for improvement. We hope that we can welcome you back to the Cotswolds again one day soon! • "Tawny Cottage was a lovely place to stay set in a beautiful location."

It was perfectly equipped, very clean and well looked after both inside and out. Within the Cotswolds it’s really well situated for visiting many places and there are nice walks right from the door. Burford itself has lots of lovely places to eat and shop so you don’t need to go far if you don’t want to. The perfect place to stay for us, our grown up family and our doggies; we really didn’t want to leave at the end of our 10 days.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "It was a great cottage and we had a lovely time."

Well equipped and comfortable. A couple of notes though - minor point but there didn’t seem to be anywhere to put hand towels in the toilet or the master en-suite. Also minor, but there could be more chopping boards. Not sure how the £300 bond worked - more explanation would be good.

Thank you for your feedback. We will pass your comments onto the Housekeeping Team. For the Bond, your card would have been shadowed in case of any damages. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Everything was lovely - the house was spacious and in a great location."

My only note for anyone looking at this cottage is that if you are a large family who watch a lot of TV together the lounge isn’t a great shape for that, but that is the only tiny, tiny negative - and is arguably a good thing

  • "We had a relaxing week's stay as a at Tawny cottage over Christmas for family reunion ."

Excellent location only a 20 minute walk to centre of Burford and 10 minute walk to nearest gastro pub with excellent food. We could easily reach all areas of the Cotswolds and shopping in nearby Witney. The owners had kindly provided Christmas decorations, throughout the house including a large tree in the kitchen diner, as welcome biscuits and Christmas crackers. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. The house is well equipped to a high standard, spacious and has everything you need for your stay. The beds in all the rooms are very comfortable along with 3 high standard bathrooms and downstairs toilet. There's plenty of sitting space in cosy lounge along with wood burning stove. The highlight is the large, bright kitchen diner with large dining table, good quality kitchen and utility room with lots of cupboard space and sofa, along with lovely views of Cotswold countryside. We would highly recommend a stay there.

The house is modern, spacious, warm and has excellent facilities. The location of the house is great for exploring the Cotswolds. The house has ample off road parking which we really appreciated with three cars. We were three couples with three babies and one toddler and it worked really well for us. We all had a bathroom each and the bedrooms were all spacious and generously sized. We would highly recommend this property! We all had a wonderful stay, thank you very much!

The lovely comfortable beds would've been perfect with feather pillows, although I guess some people might prefer the fibre-filled type for allergy reasons. The 'welcome' box of biscuits which awaited our arrival was a thoughtful touch, thank you.

The property

This gorgeous, contemporary property sits on the edge of the village of Fulbrook, and lies less than one mile from the centre of Burford; one of the most popular destinations that The Cotswolds AONB has to offer.

Sleeping 8 guests in 4 bedrooms Tawny Cottage is the ideal base from which to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Having been completely refurbished, on entering the cottage you are immediately struck by the sense of light and space that the cottage has to offer, and the attention to detail is apparent at every turn.

The large and inviting sitting room offers somewhere to relax and unwind, and in the colder months take advantage of the wood-burning stove to keep you warm and toasty.

From the sitting room enter into the stunning open-plan kitchen/dining room.

The kitchen offers every convenience you could wish for to create mouth watering delights, and the dining area is a lovely space where you can sit and relax with friends or family.

On warmer summer evenings open up the bi-fold doors and enjoy the garden: a space for the younger members of your party to enjoy (or your four legged friend, safe in the knowledge that the garden is completely enclosed).

The ground floor is also home to one of the four sumptuous bedrooms - this one complete with its own en-suite shower room (perfect should any members of your party suffer from mobility issues).

Take the stairs to the first floor, where you will find the three remaining bedrooms: the king-size master suite, again with its own en-suite shower room (and Juliet balcony, from which you can enjoys views of the garden and countryside beyond), a further king-size room and a cosy twin room, both of which share the first floor family bathroom.

Outside the cottage you have full use of the large garden - safe and fully enclosed for children and pets alike.

From your front door turn left and you will find the delightful village of Swinbrook less than a mile away, and home to one of the most highly regarded pubs in the area - The Swan at Swinbrook (please be advised you will need to book).

From your front door turn right, and you will the gorgeous town of Burford just a 20 minute stroll away and take advantage of the multitude of cafés, pubs and restaurants that the town has to offer, as well as visit the Tolsey Museum located in a 16th century building illustrating the town’s social and industrial past.

A scenic drive can bring you to the equally delightful Bourton-on-the-Water (10 miles), known as the Venice of the Cotswolds, and Stow-on-the-Wold (10 miles), each steeped in rich heritage.

A little further afield lies the lovely town of Woodstock, perhaps best known as the home of Blenheim Palace, the World Heritage site, and birthplace of Winston Churchill.

For younger members of your party, two miles away you have both The Cotswold Wildlife Park, and rather surprisingly for rural Oxfordshire, Crocodiles of the World!

Walkers and cyclists can take advantage of this wonderful Cotswolds location, soaking up the spectacular scenery of rolling countryside along a network of walking and cycling trails and bridleways.

Explore the city of Oxford and its abundance of attractions, including its university, Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums and Botanic Gardens, and why not hop on a boat trip along the River Thames, before stopping off for a refreshing glass of wine at a pretty, riverside pub?

Train links also provide easy access to London, ideal for a day trip in a bustling atmosphere.

Never be short of things to do in the beautiful Cotswolds at Tawny Cottage.

About the location

Burford

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.

Please Note: Tawny Cottage requires a Good House-keeping Bond of £300.00.

Car charging point available on request at £15.00 per stay.
