  • "Lovely quiet surroundings."

Accommodation spacious, basins in both bathrooms are far to small, should only be used in a WC. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The oven, door, shelves & hob lids look as though they have never been cleaned. The baskets in bedroom which are used as draws still had hair & dust in them. The log burner ash tray was full & the door black from use. I have a log burner at home & know there is no excuse for it to be like this. We only used the washing machine once as very noisy, sounded like the bearings were going. The bins were nearly half full on our arrival & the owner was suppose to collect Tuesday night for emptying on Wednesday ( this never happened & by the time we left they were full). Even though we told the owner about the lack of cleanliness nothing was done. Would not stay at Thatchers Barn again for the above reasons. We have stayed in numerous holiday cottages & never had any problems. Considering the cost of the rental charged for this property I was totally disgusted.

Thank you for the feedback I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay in Thatchers Barn. In reply to your comments the bins are always emptied on a Wednesday but as it was a double bank holiday it was a Friday so you would have left when they had to go out. On the point about the cleanliness we have never had any negative remarks before and when dealing with a AGA cooker which has constant heat it is very hard to clean but we will endeavour to do our best . After you highlighted the washing machine fault we arranged a domestic appliances engineer to attend on charge over day and he assured me the bearings and machine was fine after inspection. The point you raised on the log burner ,as you said you have one yourself , all manufactures recommend leaving a bed of ash in the fire as it burns hotter and cleaner and also protecting the stove from the direct heat . As they say all feedback is positive so you now have an idea how wood burners work more efficiently. Property Owner

The barn is set in woodlands with a lovely lake and beautiful walks around . The wildlife is great watching all the different birds on the feeders was amazing and squirrels and rabbits. Listening to the owls at night was lovely. Our dog absolutely loved it too. An amazing place , will definitely go back.

  • "We enjoyed our stay very much."

The thing that prevented us from leaving a perfect score was the noise experienced from the heating system, although the owners did mention this on our arrival, it was too late to affect our decision to stay. It was explained that the hot water tank was noisy. This did affect our sleep patterns. In general the heating system controls were not intuitive. This would colour our decision to stay in future.

The barn has everything you need to make the very best of your stay. The woods surrounding the barn are wonderful, you could spend all day just watching the variety of birds come to the feeders. Walking round the woods is so relaxing, a real haven for wildlife. From the barn, its a 20 minute walk to the local pub, "The Pheasant Inn" which we can highly recommend. We certainly would highly recommend Thatchers Barn and hope to return.

The owners are lovely welcoming people who welcomed us on arrival and gave us the tour. The barn really has the wow factor and the pictures don’t do justice to how special this place is, from the high quality interior to the wonderful woodland and lake. All the usual Cotswold favourites are without easy reach. If we could stay here 52 weeks of the year, we would

  • "Lovely 5 night stay at Thatchers barn."

The barn has been fitted out to a very high standard and is in a great private location with easy access to the wonderful cotswolds villages. Our dog had a great time also! The only 2 veey small points are the ensuite with the lovely bath could do with having a shower attachment (although there is a shower in the other ensuite). Also as the grounds are so big with a huge lake there is no small secure area for you to let your dog out for a wee if they are a puppy or do not have good recall. We would definitely recommend and would visit again.

3 types of owl heard overnight and a woodpecker visited on the last full day. Kim and Julian were lovely, it was nice to read the history of the barn. Our son and his partner dropped by on their way back from Devon and thought it was lovely.W e took them to meet the fish, they were amazed how you can't see any until you throw some bread and then the just appear anfd some of them are big.

The grounds were beautiful, loads of wildlife to see and very private. We felt really comfortable with our 5 and 7 year old running around on their own, and the dogs were never on a lead. Remote enough to be away from it all, but close enough in a car to drive to places to look around. We cooked in mostly, and made use of the gas bbq provided. Wish we had booked for longer!

It was a joy to look out upon the woodland within which it sits, especially as the bluebells were in full bloom during our stay.
