  • "The Hive is a beautiful apartment in a stunning location."

Everything about The Hive is exceptional and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

    Mr HarrisSep 2021

  • "Have stayed at the Hive several times now, with no problems."

Jayne & Sally (plus the rest of the team at the downstairs cafe) are always friendly and available if you do need anything. The flat itself (well, maisonette really) is well equipped and clean. Nothing to add to previous reviews, tbh!

    Mr SavageJul 2021

  • "Have stayed at the Hive several times, which indicates that we're very happy with it!"

The owners, Jayne and Sally, are lovely people who also have the cafe downstairs, and are readily available if any problems. The property is furnished with high quality gear throughout, and is ideally placed in Stow for either local walks/shops etc, or for short car trips to Bourton or Burford or similar. Bearing in mind that 'there's no place like home'(!), you can always find things you don't find ideal, but if you want a modern holiday property with good facilities both inside and out, there's no reason not to book. All being well, we'll be visiting again in 2021! I would've reviewed The Hive earlier, but the email went to my Spam folder and was only seen by me recently!

  • "Lovely spot."

Very comfortable beds and cosy apartment. V well equipped.

    Ms MarsOct 2020

  • "The Hive is a truly lovely property, very luxurious, and the location couldn't be better, being just a a stone's throw from the main market square."

There was just one teeniest niggle, it almost sounds insulting to mention it as the kitchen facilities are superb, but when you are checking in (currently) at 6pm, it would have been nice not to have had to straight back out again for milk and teabags. I'm not suggesting a massive welcome pack, but a pint of milk, a small jar of coffee, a few tea bags and a packet of local biscuits would have been very welcome. Not a complaint - just a suggestion.

  • "The apartment is very modern and beautifully decorated and maintained and has everything you need."

The only bit of advice would be supply more toilet paper

    Mrs JohnsonFeb 2020

  • "Our second time to The Hive, (from Australia) and once again it exceeded our expectations."

Sally and Jayne where so welcoming. The apartment is so beautifully decorated and the Christmas tree was such a lovely touch, thank you. Beds are the most comfy we have found in any holiday cottage. Stow on Wold such a great base for exploring the Cotswolds. Such a memorable stay.. a big thank you

  • "This was our first holiday in the Cotswolds and we had a great time."

Stow is a great base to explore and walk, with good transport links, friendly bars and fantastic options to eat out. The Hive is a superb flat, right in the heart of Stow and really is home from home. The accommodation has a quality feel, is very comfortable and well equipped. Perfect for 2, 3 or 4 guests.

  • "Having stayed at the Hive before, we've been happy to stay again."

Jayne and Sally (owners) are lovely people who also have the cafe downstairs; very convenient if any problems! All equipment / bedding is good quality. No cleanliness problems. There are a couple of maintenance issues but nothing that will adversely affect your stay. We use both bedrooms and - for the guidance of others doing the same - upstairs is in the eves and tight for headroom in places, especially in the WC, but obviously this hasn't been a deal-breaker for us! The Hive is well-located about 100 yards from the town square; there is a pub next door but we haven't heard anything offensive from there (ie: at chucking-out time), so not a problem. The cafe is always very busy, which says something in a town with quite a few cafes; all staff are great and food likewise. No reason for us not to return!

    Mr SavageNov 2019

  • "It was the perfect place to stay."

So comfy and had everything we needed. We loved Stow on the Wold, such a beautiful town. All in all a really great trip!

    Mr CampbellNov 2019

  • "Well equipped, really clean, really nice touches like fresh scones on arrival, milk in the fridge, tea, coffee etc\ \"

    Mrs Kearney

  • "Fabulous apartment, modern, well equipped, under floor heating, high standard of decor, it looked amazing but was also comfy too."

    Mr Nisbet

  • "The cottage was better than expected and we had a great time."

Great location, great furnishings, extremely comfortable beds and friendly hosts. Sally and Jayne were lovely and made us feel very welcome.

No more than a hop from the heart of Stow on the Wold, The Hive is as sweet and gorgeous as it sounds!

Ideal for couples (no children under 12).

About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
