  • "The house is lovely but unfortunately it wasn't clean at all !"

There were numerous spiders , in corners , on ceilings, side of bed in 2 of the bedrooms and side of wardrobe in front bedroom, top of the stairs , kitchen ceiling, downstairs bathroom, side of sofa . The oven and microwave are filthy . My husband vacuumed living room carpet , full of dog hair , we mopped kitchen floor with wipes as no mop , it was black! The bedding had stains on in 2 of the bedrooms and a dirty bath towel. The toilets were clean .Top of kitchen cupboards filthy too . Just a shame really as it is well equipped and a fantastic location.

  • "Hi, over all it is a lovely property with great facilities."

My family commented that the bedding or towels were clean? I did only book the day before, so appreciate it left very little time. We were greeted with a smell of bleach or similar which was encouraging and a couple of lamps were on, so it felt welcoming. The main bathroom needs firming up under the bath, showering in there is like riding a surfboard apparently and water must be or have been seaping into the downstairs toilet below as the ceiling there was showing damage. The loo seat in the ensuite was very loose. Despite tightening it finger tight it still worked loose. Those I think are quite easy and not expensive fixes and I'm sure would benefit the property going forward. Overall a fabulous stay, thanks for having us

Had to clean kitchen sink hadn't seen bleach in ages drains were brown. Re wiped work surfaces and cleaned toaster as was full of breadcrumbs that were burnt. Cleaned kitchen walls as they were muddy. Put bleach down all sinks as smelt of drains. Grass could have done with cut. Also polished dining table and coffee table as felt sticky.

  • "Lovely cottage."

This is actually our second stay here - we were last here in 2022. I'm pleased to say that we enjoyed our second visit. The beds are comfortable. The lounge has a 3-seater and a 2-seater plus an armchair - all of which were comfortable. The kitchen is large and well-equipped including with a large fridge, large freezer, full-sized dishwasher, plenty of pots and pans, cling film and baking foil. The heating was enough to keep us warm even though it was quite a cold January. We would definitely consider returning if we wanted to be in this part of the world again.

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay."

It was a convenient location as we have family nearby and would choose to stay here again. We were impressed by the array of kitchen equipment, but would have liked one or two 'simple' items such as a plain baking tray. An earlier review from September slightly alarmed us, but the bedding was all clean.

  • "A well proportioned property in a nice location, however a number of improvements need to be made."

Access to the rear of the property to obtain the key was made difficult by overgrown ivy around the gate, the swing bin in the kitchen and the toilet flush in the en suite are broken, the glass occasional table in the dining area is loosely placed on the legs, there were cobwebs in the corners and dog hairs on the bed. The request not to strip the beds made us question whether there was fresh linen on the beds and with dog hairs evident we suspected that they weren’t. Not what we have come to expect from Sykes Cottages.

  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely village."

A few very small issues but nothing that hasn’t been mentioned before and didn’t really matter. Parking is fine even with 3 cars. Great little shop opposite. Heads up but the pub in the village is closed for essential refurbishment until sometime in October, they are providing an outdoor bar with some cover and a pizza menu until they re-open. We would gladly stay here again.

  • "Lovely 3-bedroomed cottage in Andoversford village."

The cottage was nicely furnished and the beds very comfortable. We had our dog with us and the garden is self-contained, so no risk of losing him! The location being near to the A40 is a bonus to get to lots of places, including Bourton on the Water, Stow, Moreton in Marsh, Cheltenham and not forgetting the idyllic Bibury. The local convenience store is a delightful step back in time and had most of what we needed for the stay.

  • "This is a spacious cottage with all of the things we needed for a good stay."

The beds were comfortable. The house was warm. The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. Wifi signal was strong. The sofas were comfortable and the TV plenty big enough. We really enjoyed heading into Cheltenham from here. We also really liked the farm shop and restaurant booths at Dunkertons. I would say that the cottage only looks clean as opposed to being properly clean. For example, I found that quite a few surfaces were actually dusty or dirty when we ran antibacterial wipes over them, but this was something that we sorted out in around 15 minutes. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay and would return.

  • "The downstairs area is bigger than we thought with a great, fully equipped kitchen."

It’s a nicely presented little house but the sofas are not comfortable for 6 guests and the beds would benefit from headboards. The floors and surfaces were nice and clean but the property is ready for a deep clean (cobwebs everywhere and built up dust and grubbiness on skirting boards). Great location for access to the Cotswolds, Oxford and Westonbirt. The little notes left in various places about stripping beds and leaving the property clean etc were unnecessary and did not give a welcoming feeling (unlike other holiday properties we have stayed in where the messages have been “welcome, we hope you enjoy your stay”).

  • "Jubilee Mews was very nice but just a few additions and it would exceed expectations."

I did leave a note for the cleaner. The towels were awful, too small, very stiff and stained. Some of the bedding needs replacing also. The shower in the ensuite is poor because it is blocked up with limescale. Try Viakal it's fantastic. Not all the recycling bags are there, which are needed, as it is quite a complex system. The plastic boxes need labelling so the next guest in knows which box has been used for what. The heat pump might be environmentally friendly but it is so noisy as is the A40 particularly at night or when sat out in the garden.

Upstairs the bathroom and en-suite were very clean and accessible( I am disabled so struggle). The Royal Oak is very close just five minutes walk away and the food is exceptional. We visited twice there because it was so nice. Very friendly staff and the fish and chips were so tasty. The garden is a nice size and is completely enclosed if you hsve a dog. We had a lovely afternoon sitting in the sun in the garden. Sharon the lady who manages the house was very approachable. It is tastefully decorated throughout and spotlessly clean. It is in a quiet cul de sac within a quiet village with a shop and a pub within walking distance. Almost everything was thought out although a fan would have been nice in the hot weather Having a downstairs toilet was a nice bonus and the bath was nice and big. There were skylights in most of the upstairs rooms which really could do with a blackout blind on them especially in the main bedroom as it is right above the bed and lets in the light at sunrise which at this time of year is 5am! Extra suggestions would be a power shower in the en suite bathroom and a TV in the main bedroom but these are just suggestions Overall we enjoyed our stay, a lovely house and area
