  • "Th improvements to last year were great, but the freezer compartment (which was so welcome) was very iced up, and was filled with a solid block of ice!"

    Although we have loved staying with you for 2 years, we find it comparatively very expensive for 2 people, and the steep stairs up are a deterrent. You have a lovely place, which you have refurbished beautifully. Thank you for making us so welcome. Vicki & Sally

  • "If you’re thinking of booking this cozy little flat then don’t hesitate."

    It’s beautifully clean, has all the facilities you need and is ideally situated in the centre of Oakham. The attention to detail in the flat excellent. The welcome basket extremely generous, there’s plenty of wardrobe and drawer space in the bedrooms. In fact we couldn’t think of anything we needed that wasn’t there. It’s a credit to Neil and Tanya -the owners. If you do book it you won’t be disappointed.

  • "The Hideout is a beautifully furnished flat within walking distance of all that Oakham has to offer."

    It is kept spotlessly clean and is well-equipped. Beds are wonderfully comfortable. The owners are very friendly, responding promptly to a query. Expect some noise from the road when windows are open, given the flat’s ideal central location; there is efficient double glazing when they’re closed. Would highly recommend and would return.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hideout The property is exceptionaly clean Very well presented and tastefully decorated The owners Tanya and Neil have thought of everything to ensure the stay is perfect Comunication is first class The welcome pack was a very nice and much appreciated however the hand written personal welcome card was a superb personalised touch which we have not seen before Oakham and the Rutland area is a fantastic place to visit with much to see for everyone's taste The Hideout is a perfect base from which to explore We would definitely like to stay again in the future Bernie & Ange

  • "Despite a few niggling issues at the beginning of our stay (which the owner sorted out pretty quickly) we had a very enjoyable stay."

    Situated in a part of the country that despite travelling through we hadn't previously visited before and Oakham is a great base for the local attractions.

Apologies again for the electric shower, but I hope the replacement duration of the next working day to source and fit a new one (over a Sunday unfortunately) was deemed understandable. Hopefully the use of our adjacent Flat 2’s (empty at the time) shower facilities eased the inconvenience, along with the compensation given.   • "Fantastic , what a Gem !"

    a wonderful l home right in the centre of lovely Oakham , the property was immaculate , beautifully presented with all the facilities clearly sign posted to make them easy to use . The property was short of nothing things like having a coffee machine with great variety of pods to choose from , Plenty of soft fluffy towels in the bathroom . Very comfortable bed . A thoughtful welcome basket with hand written note from the owners . These things matter on a stay away and make the difference between a good holiday cottage and great holiday cottage . Would highly recommend and will most definitely stay again .

  • "The flat has surpassed our expectations, there has been nothing we have wanted or needed that isn’t provided."

    And everything is of a high standard and good quality. It is a real home from home which means we’ve had a really good relaxed time. Someone has really thought through making this comfortable and homely with style. We’ve loved it and will be back.   • "Excellent property centrally situated, perfect for exploring town and surrounding countryside."

    Very comfortable, clean and well- furnished Very good communication from owners. Street parking was not an issue: when necessary could find parking place in business hours for 1 hour very close to flat, plus can park overnight in street from 5pm- 9am

  • "Walking into the Hideout was walking into a warm and cosy space."

    The property was noticeably clean and very well equipped. In fact during our time there we had everything that we needed. A real joy. The welcome hamper was amazing and even impressed our friends who visited. We appreciated the message contacts we had with Neil, welcoming us, ensuring that we had everything we needed and wishing us a safe journey back home. We felt that we mattered. Oakham is a nice place to visit and even though we were there at New Year it was quiet. Thank you Neil and Tanya for looking after us so well.

  • "This is one of the best places we have stayed at."

    Well appointed in a village full of food choices, lovely shops and we managed to park very easily. It was so clean, comfortable and everything you could need including a coffee machine and a great selection of Teas. You are supplied with loads of clear information including emergency. We traveled around this beautiful county and got back knowing we would be able to walk to any food venue for food and a drink, then back to a comfortable bed. The outside seating area is lovely and a great place to sit should the weather allow it. We would certainly return to this place in the future.

The property

The Hideout is settled in the heart of the medieval market town of Oakham; this charming and quirky first-floor apartment that is suited to a couple or small family.

Located up a flight of external steps, The Hideout benefits from an attractive rear terrace, thoughtful and stylish interiors and a great location within reach of amenities and the wonderful Rutland Water.

Climb the steps up to the gravelled terrace area, admiring the pretty furniture and outlook, before entering the communal front door, and into The Hideout.

Hang up coats in the hall and leave your shoes before venturing into the kitchen on the left, featuring decorative tiled flooring and fitted units with integrated appliances, complete with a bespoke 'American Style Diner' dining area.

Discover the living and dining room to be a quirky setting full of characterful furnishings, with sofas and armchairs set around the traditional-style electric fire and Smart TV, Freshen up within the shower room, boasting a modern heated and light-up mirror, a heated towel rail, basin, WC and walk-in shower.

The double bedroom presents an elegant space to unwind with a chandelier hanging above you, matching furniture and neutral hues.

The second bedroom is accessed via the living/dining room and boasts two single beds.

Begin your day with breakfast alfresco in the sun out on the terrace, before strolling into the town centre to get to know this historic, medieval setting.

Wander through the Market Place on a Wednesday or Saturday to find a plethora of quality local produce from artisan bread to locally made cheeses.

Oakham is the delightful county town of Rutland, and is a great place to visit and spend a holiday. It is filled with pretty stone and thatched buildings and offers something for everyone, it's a great family holiday destination. The town centre offers a good range of shops, restaurants and bars to choose from as well as a local history museum, a 12th century castle and a 14th century church adding real character and beauty. To the outskirts of the town sits one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe in the Rutland Water Nature Reserve which offers watersports, a small water adventure park, a bird watching fair, sailing club and fishing facilities for you outdoor people. There is also Rutland Water Golf Course overlooking the lake. The Midlands is packed with lovely towns and cities that are worth visiting, the train station in Oakham offers access to places such as Nottingham and Leicester with their great shopping and stunning buildings.
