  • "We had a fabulous week in Hook Norton."

The cottage was perfect, beautifully presented and furnished, and very well equipped. There were beautiful fresh garden flowers on the tables and a thoughtful welcome pot of home made chutney. The beds were super comfortable, we all slept well. I particularly loved the outdoor patio area, with the good weather we used it a lot for dining. It felt like being very rural yet is within a convenient village. It was wonderful to sit out there first thing with a cup of tea and listen to/watch the abundant wildlife. Situation was great near two excellent, welcoming pubs, a well stocked village shop and the church. Our hosts were lovely and popped round to check all was well (and gave us some fresh, homegrown tomatoes). I highly recommend this wonderful cottage and would love to return at some point. Thank you.

  • "This cottage is idyllic."

Sited centrally in the beautiful village of Hook Norton and yet slighly tucked away down a short alley where you will enjoy a lovely garden and views of the countryside we felt that the situation was perfect. We had good food in The Sun Inn, and there is also a well stocked local store, both of which are only a minutes walk away. Also, the Hook Norton brewery is a short walk down the hill for local beer. The owners were very welcoming and the cottage itself was in immaculate order, very comfortable, and we had a great few days here.

  • "Magdalen Cottage is the perfect place to explore the Cotswolds."

The cottage is picturesque inside and out - very comfortable, spotlessly clean and with a well equipment kitchen for all our needs. Our family of five ranged from 15- 86 years and the cottage catered for everyone’s needs. The garden and patio provide a great outside space for dining or just relaxing. It’s is situated in the heart of the quiet village and a 2 minute walk to the pub, church and a well stocked village shop. Hook Norton is a beautiful village with all the charm you would expect from a traditional Cotswold village - including church bells. Paul and Lesley were greats hosts - very welcoming, always available should you need them but never intrusive. This was our first visit to the Cotswolds and we are already planning a return visit to Magdalen Cottage - could not recommend it highly enough.

  • "We all enjoyed a lovely break in your beautiful home."

Thank you for the welcome. Enjoying chats in the garden, listening to the wildlife and birds (especially the swifts and swallows!), having nutritious lunches, and relaxing. Only a beautiful retreat. Gardens well renowned and in the areas visited: Hidcote, Kiftsgate, Bourton House, William Morris' home... We also enjoyed walks in and around the village and discovering local pubs and cafés. Thank you.

  • "Magdalen Cottage is a very comfortable and well-equipped cottage."

Set slightly off the main road it's very peaceful with a lovely view from the seating area in the rear garden. The owners are very welcoming and helpful if you need them at all. All the bedrooms are a good size and have a good blend of traditional and contemporary features. A dining room separate from the kitchen and living room is a very nice setting if you cook for yourselves, the kitchen is well equipped. The living room is very spacious with comfortable seating and a mix of antique and new. The roadside parking was never a problem, even though we were there for Easter. There's a good selection of places to eat out around and about and a well-stocked village shop with some local produce. Hook Norton is a proper community still, not as touristy as some villages or towns in the Cotswolds. Thoroughly recommend a stay here. Only minor points were there was only 6 cups for tea/coffee - another set would have been handy and larger glasses for juice, water or long drinks. Similarly, another set of small coasters in the dining room would have been convenient.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and that you all had a lovely time. It's a great base to explore the Cotswolds from and we will of course pass on your comments to the Owner, with regards to a few extra mugs and coasters for the dining room. We would love to welcome you again soon for another stay with us. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

Beautiful furniture, exceptionally clean and comfortable, and with the quintessential charm and cozy feel you can expect from a period Cotswolds Cottage. • "We had a wonderful stay in a unique cottage in a very pretty Cotswold village!"

The hosts were very attentive, always available for questions and tips, and took care of everything in a very friendly way (even though we had only booked a few hours in advance!). The house is in a quiet location, very clean, well-maintained, and lovingly furnished. It has two chic new bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, three lovely bedrooms with comfortable beds, and a really large, cozy living room. Personal highlights were the wonderful garden with several seating areas and the personalized furnishings with beautiful old furniture. The icing on the cake was the homemade orange marmalade, fresh bouquets upon arrival, apples and pears from the garden, and the books about English gardens, English history, and the monarchy. We felt very comfortable and can fully recommend the accommodation!
