Nettleton is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire. The parish includes the villages of Nettleton, Burton and West Kington, and the hamlets of Horsedown, Nettleton Shrub and West Kington Wick. The northern section of Nettleton village is known as Nettleton Green, with the name Nettleton meaning "the place where nettles grow'' - gardeners in the village certainly know the truth of that! There are some 80 households in Nettleton village which lie within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many good walks in the area and the Macmillian Way long distance footpath runs through the parish. For energetic walkers seeking refreshment, the Salutation Inn is a good place to stop and there is an off-license in the village shop and Post Office. Now a quiet residential community with farms around it, Nettleton was listed in the Doomsday Book as a thriving rural community. Being close to the city of Bath and with the Fosse Way running through the parish there are a number of Roman and early British settlement sites in the vicinity.istol Aquarium, and Bristol Cathedral. The city is well-connected with stations nearby for easy access to transportation.
