  • "A perfect stay in a perfect property."

The Old Paper Shop is an ancient building, made comfortable and conveneient by careful updating and furnishing. The decor is beautifully in keeping with the age of the property. The bed is very comfy; the shower is excellent. The kitchen is tiny, but has been thoughtfully designed and provided with everything we could need, even down to salt and pepper! The property is right on a main street in the centre of Tewkesbury, but effective double (and then doubled again!) glazing meant we heard no traffic noise once inside. Tewkesbury itself and the surrounding countryside are full of picturesque and historic interest. We would defiitely recommend The Old Paper Shop.

  • "The Paper Shop was perfect for our hoilday, we were very comfortable there and slept well."

It is a lovely old building that is looked after with care. It was nice to sit in the courtyard garden with a book on the sunny days. The central location is great for exploring this historic town, lovely walks along the river and some super little cafes and restaurants. A special mention for the Jelly Roll Cafe across the road, great for breakfast or a light lunch with great Jazz in the background. We enjoyed our 10 days at The Paper Shop and look forward to a return visit.

  • "This is an unusual and charming place to stay and the small space has been converted and decorated with a lot of thought and care."

The location was excellent - just a short walk from the High Street - and there was very little noise from the street outside. The only problem was the lack of information provided. We were asked to be mindful of central heating use yet several visitors had mentioned the lack of instructions for the digital controls. Every holiday let should have a folder containing all this kind of info about the property so that it's easily accessible - it would be so helpful for guests.

  • "The property was lovely, clean and comfortable and was ideal for two people for a few nights."

Despite being next to a main road, we were not disturbed by the traffic due to the double glazing. The features of this old, historic building were very interesting. Parking near the abbey was cheap and secure. We enjoyed visiting the abbey and went back for evensong later in the day. I would recommend the Italian restaurant beyond the abbey and Wetherspoons huge beer garden which runs down to the river. The location for exploring the Cotswolds was ideal.

  • "First this property is in a great location for Tewkesbury, no car parking but as it says in the information no problems parking in a nearby car park and if you have a blue badge it’s free."

The property is cosy and we had a nice time and as previous reviews the main cooker come microwave is difficult to operate I read the instructions but still had problems we settled for eating out. Watch out for the step up next to the kitchen I found it in the night. The Abbey and the museum next door are well worth a visit. I would rate this property as ok to stay in.

  • "Lovely looking property and very quirky."

On the main road but the secondary glazing blocks out the sound almost completely. Downside is that if you have someone above you then you can hear them walking around above your ibedroom. The people above us also had a dog which they let out into the shared garden (which the bedroom backs on to) several times each night waking us up. We were very tired by the end of our three night stay. Could also do with some instruction for the combi microwave/oven as others had noted in the guestbook. Overall a nice place and great location let down by the things mentioned above.

Clean, tidy, comfortable and full of character. We had wonderful time. Few thing we would have improved are a description on heating and its schedule, notice regarding the actual absence of Sky channels (as it was still on a welcome note) and decent set of frying pans (ones provided were burnt and scratches non-stick )

Ideal as in town and for meeting up with family and friends as I used to live in Tewkesbury. Apartment is on the ground floor and all one level which is great. Only one thing that I would add to the info sheet is what days are the bins collected.

Also, great position to access local theatre and other local entertainmets. The kitchenette was compact, but lots of takeaway food and restaurants just metres away. Our challenge for the first two days was the Mop Street fair, this was set up in the street in front of the flat - making it hard to get to the flat, closing the car park we would have used and causing significant noise. We do definitely recommend this flat, but suggest you avoid the 48 hours of the Mop fair in October.

The property is compact but has everything you need. The kitchen is OK for some very basic cooking but you would struggle to do more. You can park on the road outside the property free from 6 p.m. until 9 a.m. and it was relatively easy to find a spot in the evening to park. Tewkesbury is a lovely town with plenty of interesting shops and eateries. The only criticism I would make is that we stayed in July and the bedding was winterweight with a very heavy bedspread.

Tewkesbury itself was a very pleasant and interesting town with the Abbey as its focal point and our visits to Ledbury and Winchcombe in particular were excellent with specific visits to Eastnor Castle and Sudeley Castle respectively. Our accommodation at The Old Papershop was quaint and compact -- and very welcoming. Evening eating in Tewkesbury was an average experience at best -- with the big exception of Dalchini`s, one of the best Indian restaurants we have come across in many years and serving very good Bangladesh cuisine. We had a good week.

Situated in centre of Tewksbury it gave access to the facilities of the town and it’s interests and also the surrounding countryside. The Malvern Hills and Cotswolds are all within easy reach and the road system gives quick routes to interesting places slightly further away. For us it made a perfect base.

A clever feature has been made of the original timber frames with a window set into the kitchen wall showcasing the original wattle and daub wall and beams, dating back around 500 years. Walk round to the bedroom to find a lovely king-size bed amidst the rich green painted walls, leading into a stunning en-suite shower room which is in-keeping with the medieval style.

Explore the town of Tewkesbury, one of the few places where you will see mostly half-timbered building and with 350 listed buildings here too, it is home to a wealth of heritage.

Visit Tewkesbury Abbey, a 12th century Norman feat dominating the town, with tours available up to the town to take in stunning views of the town below, and experience the 1471 final battle of the Wars of the Roses re-enacted each year at the Medieval Fayre in July.
