The harbourside village of Bunbeg is a small village resting at the mouth of the Clady River. Home to quaint shops, pubs and restaurants within the village and the nearby Magheraclogher Strand plays provides good bathing opportunities along the sandy stretch resting around half a mile from the village. Resting between Derrybeg and Gweedore, the area is renowned for its thriving Irish-speaking culture, with its old Irish customs such as traditional music, theatre, Gaelic games playing an essential role within the community. There are plenty of attractions, historic sites and landmarks within the area such as the Bunbeg Wreck, also known as "Bad Eddie's Boat" or "Cara Na Mara", a shipwreck from the 1970s and a popular attraction amongst tourists. Further afield is the wonderful Glenveagh National Park, which is reachable by car and boasts enchanting landscapes of oak woodland, the Derryveagh Mountains. There is also a 19th century mansion with beautifully kept gardens and grounds overlooking a quintessentially Irish glen, making Glenveagh and the surrounding areas the ideal destination for explorers or for those looking for a tranquil day out.
