The four kids really loved the house. It was very reasonable pricewise. The location was great, we had two different beaches to chose from, one across the river and the other one via a small walkway. We found lots to do in Wexford and the weather we got was ace for the week, we got pretty lucky. Totally recommend The Trawler.

  • "The Trawler was good value for money, it was just a couple of minutes walk to the beach and had a nice big garden for the kids to run around in."

However, the accuracy of the listing was not great- there is no pub and shop less than a mile away, probably more like 4km away down a winding country road- meaning that we had to drive there and we couldn't both have a drink. The listing also states that there is a cot and highchair on request, but there isn't. We weren't made aware of this until we were at the property and I contacted sykes to find out where it was. I heard nothing back from sykes until the next morning. In the meantime I had emailed the owners and they had got back to me to say they didn't provide these and had made sykes aware back in April. Had I known, I could have brought a travel cot, instead my 1 year old had to sleep on a mattress on the floor for the week. Luckily I had brought a spare single sheet which i put on the mattress, as only the double bed and one other single bed had been made up (which my other daughter was using), and there were no spare sheets provided. Apart from these issues, the house was comfortable, just could do with a little maintenance e.g. the shower doors didn't close properly and when the washing machine drains it spills out onto the back patio. Also kitchen equipment was lacking- only 4 forks provided, cheese grater was broken and sharp at edges, serving spoon was broken, ladle also broken etc. All the above issues did marr the holiday a bit, but otherwise was a good base to explore wexford.

I gave 1 star for comfort as we had to cut our holiday short as the bed was so uncomfortable couldn't sleep in it which is a pity because we loved the area and would love to go back to the Trawler if there was a more comfortable bed.

This property must not be let to a family with children, water gets into the electrics, the owner does not feel this is dangerous, fuse box tripped every time it rains, the contact details left by the owner was for someone who no longer had anything to do with the property. The owner never bothered to call us despite knowing the problem with the electrics before we arrived, they would only communicate via E-mail when they could be bothered.

It's location so close to the ocean was wonderful and we enjoyed the sound of the waves and our walks along the beach. Joan was very easy to communicate with and everything was as advertised. The owners were also very accommodating and went above and beyond trying to resolve an issue that was beyond their control and it was appreciated. Would love to visit in the summer as it is in a quiet location and the proximity to the ocean can't be beaten.

It is a superb location for the beach and great to be able to bring our dog aswell. You can hear and see the ocean right from the front door, really amazing. The house is very comfortable and cozy and Joan was very responsive to us. I think the house does need a bit of upkeep done especially the decking, bunk beds are pretty noisy and rocky, the place had some cobwebs which the kids hated and the wifi wasn't great. The gardens are an amazing space and we had wonderful weather during our stay and overall we would come back as the house was so cozy and such a great location. We found it very private and never saw anyone walk by our gate, they were on the outer road. I would love to experience a week in winter

  • "The property was in a great location."

We thought that the property could have been doing with more equipment for cooking. E. G. only 1 egg cup. no food turners, a larger saucepan would be a suggestion. In previous stays at other properties booked through this website, we found that they were well stocked with cleaning products and wrongly assumed this would be the same case here. No washing up liquid or hand gel. So we had to go and buy stuff like this. Not a criticism, just something we just assumed would be there having been there for other properties, and will have to ensure we take these types of things if booking through sykes again.

Joan was wonderful as usual everything was perfect. The only problem with this property is the lack of blinds/curtains on bedrooms and front of the house we constantly had to keep heavy curtains closed for privacy and security which defeated the purpose of the amazing location and sea views. The gardener entering the gardens to cut the grass without any notice was also an issue . If these small issues were dealt with The Trawler would be 100% the perfect holiday

I have produced a document with photos attached showing the dirty standards. With The Covid 19 Outbreak this cottage should be condemned. I have tried to email the photos along with a written document highlighting the grime inside the cottage but can’t find an email address to send it to. I have noticed that in the review section other people share my views about the state of the cottage. My wife had to clean up the grime with bleach before we dare occupy the property. I think that we deserve some compensation From you for ruining our holiday. If I do not hear anything from you the document and photos will be sent to the environmental health. Geoff and Sue
