  • "Cobble cottage is modern, clean & comfortable with a rustic country decor."

    A few downsides for us, we were unable to sit outside at the bistro table & chairs & enjoy a drink & the lovely weather, because of the dozens of swarming wasps attracted to the fallen apples, from the neighbouring overhanging tree, which littered the patio area despite binning most of them. Obviously this was in September when the fruit is ripening but, still a put off. The road past the cottage was a throughfare for cars & commercial vehicles & at times noisy. Excellent Sunday roast at the Masons Arms, no shop in the village so a 5 minute car journey into Appleby for essentials.

    Such a shame you had an issue with the wasps and fallen apples…the very hot weather a major factor. To respect your privacy(unless a serious issue) we would not intrude by coming into the garden area to pick up fallen apples from the neighbouring property. Hopefully it didn’t detract from your stay in our comfy,popular cottage. Surprised to hear about lots of noisy traffic on this quiet village Back Lane,(it is a road ,and therefore is used by locals and delivery vans)and not something we have been aware of. Prior research will highlight shopping in nearby Appleby or Penrith Best Wishes. Property Owner

  • "Lovely little cottage, spotlessly clean with excellent amenities."

    Nice garden to enjoy alfresco coffee etc. Great location for daytrips, and pub in the village for nice dinners. We loved staying at cobble cottage.

  • "Being a lone female traveller on this occasion, I felt very safe and secure in this property."

    Very comfortable and well equipped let down only by the poor qualty bed linen. Duvet cover and pillowcases were very rough and bobbley. Not a deal breaker but, in my humble opinion, this does need addressing. The fridge is very small and if you are planning on cooking and/or stocking up on drinks etc. I would suggest shopping every few days as you simply will not fit everything in. Note there is a larger than normal freezer compartment, hence the smaller fridge space. Everything else was great. The property is very clean and done to a high standard & modern spec (bed linen aside) The property was uncluttered and was very quiet without being isolated and most nights I slept like a log on the very comfortable mattress, despite the heat. Was great having blinds and curtains, especially in the bedroom. Decent bathroom with both bath and shower. Pretty good wifi and great to be able to access my Netflix and other streaming services. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and would stay here again.

The cottage is designed for two people ,so the size of fridge in a holiday cottage reflects this. A couple of other points..the bedside lamps work perfectly.   • "Lovely cosy cottage, very well equipped & milk biscuits were welcome."

    Good location for lots of places to explore & beautiful countryside walks. Minor problem with water on arrival but Dave came & sorted within 5mins. Came away relaxed & refreshed.

  • "The info on cobble cottage did not do it justice wow what a place to stay from the fully fitted kitchen to the underfloor heating it was cold outsidewonderfull bathroom very efficiant wifi location parking to pretty gsrden and the area wow the lake district has everything ."

  • "A great little modern and very comfortable cottage with a super little safe area from our dog to wander out to."

    The underfloor heating was a real bonus given the frozen temperatures outside when we were there. We will definitely book again as it’s a great base for visiting and walking and there’s a nice and well stocked village pub 2 minutes away!!

  • "We stayed at cobbles cottage for 3 nights & spent NYE here ."

    . what a lovely experience throughout very relaxing stay , we felt right at home everything was lovely and clean the bed was very comfortable & the kitchen was widely stocked up for all you’re cooking needs … as well as a bonus extra of a smart TV in lounge area . we found great links to places we visited Penrith , Lowther castle & explored pooley Bridge what a fantastic little Gem :) this was our first stay with our newborn baby & we enjoyed every minute . The hosts was very accommodating leaving Tea , coffee , milk & biscuits & he was very responsive throughout our stay .we can’t wait to return Thank you so much from the Kervins

The historic town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the North Pennines, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the lush Eden Valley and steeped in history, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two National Parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town. Appleby has a wonderful selection of quality independent shops, cafes and delicatessens selling locally produced food and crafts. The picturesque street of Boroughgate, with some interesting old buildings, is at the heart of the town and links the well-preserved Norman Castle with the fine medieval Church of St. Lawrence. Appleby is a major stop on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and still today many of the old steam trains wend their way along this line and over the historic and awe-inspiring Ribblehead viaduct.
