The property

Dorset Villas welcomes you to a classic Victorian-style home in the heart of Matlock, where leafy streets, historic character and easy access to the Peak District National Park set the scene for a memorable stay.

Ideal for families or friends, this inviting house blends period features with everyday practicality, creating a place that feels instantly lived-in and ready to enjoy.

From the moment you arrive, the house reveals its warmth and personality.

The entrance hall leads into a cosy sitting room where a woodburning stove becomes the natural focal point, perfect for evenings spent chatting, reading or settling in after a day outdoors.

Beyond this, a separate dining room encourages long meals and shared conversations, whether you’re enjoying a home-cooked dinner or planning the next day’s adventure.

The farmhouse-style kitchen adds to the home’s character, offering a sociable space with a table and window bench that’s ideal for morning coffee or keeping the cook company.

A utility area keeps everything running smoothly, while a door opens directly onto the enclosed rear garden, complete with outdoor furniture, bike storage and thoughtful touches for walkers and cyclists returning from the trails.

Upstairs, two generously sized double bedrooms provide calm, restful spaces to retreat to at the end of the day.

Each room is well proportioned and quietly tucked away, while the family bathroom offers both a bath and a walk-in shower, giving everyone the choice of a long soak or a quick refresh.

Matlock itself offers plenty to explore.

Hall Leys Park is a lovely spot for a stroll beside the river, Heights of Abraham offers cable car rides and panoramic views across the Derwent Valley, and Gulliver’s Kingdom provides a fun-filled day out for families.

Nearby Bakewell is a highlight too, known for its handsome stone buildings, riverside walks and the chance to sample the famous Bakewell Pudding.

The Peak District National Park lies right on your doorstep, opening up a world of outdoor experiences.

Walk the dramatic limestone landscapes of Dovedale, with its stepping stones and winding river path.

Cycle or wander along the Monsal Trail, a former railway line offering tunnels, viaducts and sweeping valley views.

For something truly iconic, explore the grand estate of Chatsworth House, where stately rooms, landscaped gardens and miles of parkland create a day out to remember.

Dorset Villas is an excellent choice for your Peak District escape.
