  • "What a wonderful house!"

    A home from home with everything you could wish for. Lovely welcome packs for the humans and dog. Great location on very quiet estate and only 15 mins walk into Appledore (the walk back up the hill is the only down-side but we were reliably informed the local bus is an option) Loads of great pubs and cafes (all very dog friendly) Highly recommended the Royal George for wonderful food. Will definitely return !

  • "A lovely spotless holiday home in a peaceful corner of appledore."

    We had a nice relaxing week even though the weather was'nt too kind to us the house made up for it.not too far from the centre of the town with other places of interest near by.we can highly recommend this holiday home.

  • "The home we found very easy to find."

    Everything was as stated, the only drawback for us was very overlooked in the back garden, perhaps some form of greenery to make the garden more private. Kind regards James

In terms of the garden as it is a new property we are in the process of planting bushes and hope over time these will grow to provide privacy. Being higher than the other properties I feel does put our property at an advantage and so properties cannot see into the garden other than the next door neighbour.   • "Well maintained, good standard, and all as described."

    Ideal for us as the garden was fully secure for our dog. Good base for exploring the area and walking distance to lovely Appledore bay/harbour area. Only negatives were the size of the garden and therefore its was overlooked from all sides, but that was to be expected noting the property type/location. Overall it met our needs for this short break and we were pleasantly surprised by the high interior standards and facilities. Thank you for all the little extras provided, although i suggest you advertise this bonus more... as we'd already purchased and brought many of those items with us.

  • "Lovely area."

    Nice property. Accurate on description. Welcome box -lovely Beds comfortable Only areas are - 1. The bathroom floor and sink was dirty on arrival. 2. Asked to remove sheets on leaving . On single bed- material mattress cover several stains which was not nice 3. Several cups stained on the inside of the cups 4.confusion over coffee machine . No pods available to try other than a little plate with a piece of card saying enjoy - but x2 pods- milk only so confusion +

    Thank you for your feedback. In terms of the coffee machine, this is for guests to use however we do not provide the pods. I believe those available were left by another kind guest. Sorry for the confusion though and I will take on your views of a sample provision. I personally checked cups on arrival Saturday there was one cup that was badly stained and this has now been cleaned. Afraid that was mine and is generally kept separate in different cupboard. I am sorry you considered the single mattress stained. These are obviously washed after every use however very light stains do sometimes remain even after a deep wash. I have arranged for replacement. I am very surprised to hear you considered the bathroom floor dirty. This is very unusual, as our cleaning company are meticulous on cleaning. We hope otherwise you enjoyed your holiday. Property Owner

  • "We have just returned home from our stay at Harley’s Hideaway."

    . Absolutely wonderful, from the moment we walked in to a sweet aroma from the reed air freshener..the welcome pack was a lovely touch after a 5 hour drive, everything was so clean and fresh, probably the best cottage we stayed in with Sykes, will definitely be back..just a couple of suggestions.. A bolt on the back gate would be good and a bin outside to put the rubbish bags, the seagulls were a nightmare trying to get in to them, just small things but overall the house was wonderful and so relaxing..10 out of 10..

There is a metal bin with a lid, located at the rear of the garage, but sorry if it wasn’t obvious to see, or large enough to put the rubbish into.   • "Immaculately clean property & very welcoming!"

    Road was little difficult to find, as a new estate & road names & directions were not ckear!! Even the satnav wasn’t chear! We would have liked a chair in the bedroom - and a couple of small sharp knives in the kitchen as well as a bread knife! Otherwise very happy with the property & would definitely recommend!

    Hi we are glad you enjoyed your stay at Harley’s Hideaway. I’m sorry you didn’t find all the sharp knives. The information book does explain these are in the main pan draw in an internal draw. We keep them there out of the way of children. However I will make sure there is some signage on the drawer. Property Owner

  • "What a wonderful home from home!"

    Everything and more you need for a perfect stay . Fantastic welcome box and even treats for the dog. The house had lots of little extras that you may need and is furnished beautifully and kept immaculate . Lovely base to explore the local area . Had a very minor issue (our fault ) and was resolved within an hour no problem at all . Highly recommend Coffee Cabin on the Quay , lovely staff and full of locals , a lovely walk from the house . We had a great stay and have booked to return next year

  • "A gorgeous brand new home on the edge of Appledore."

    The property is small but offers a fantastic welcome and is extremely well equipped. We spent five glorious days here - Appledore itself is within walking distance and we really enjoyed some if the local eateries. Other areas are close by and easily accessible by car / bus. Our four legged member of the family loved the local beaches, we also ventured further afield to Putsborough, Croyde and Crow’s Point, well worth a visit. We can’t wait to return! Diolch

  • "Harley’s Hideaway is a well presented, very comfortable house with everything you could need for a holiday away from home, even down to having enough hangars in the wardrobe."

    There are plenty of items in the kitchen, the lounge diner is very comfortable with access to the garden. The house was cleaned to a very high standard before we arrived. It was an ideal base for us to visit all the different towns and sites nearby. If we were to return to the area in future we would certainly check if Harleys Hideaway was available

  • "Lovely property, very clean and fresh."

    Everything that you can think of provided in the kitchen. Would benefit from a grab rail to climb into the bath for a shower and a retractable stair gate at the bottom of the stairs. Welcome pack is a lovely idea and very much appreciated after a 4 hour drive.

    Plenty of nice little extras and the hospitality box was outstanding . Extremely clean and a lovely wet fish shop within walking distance also lots of nice places to have a coffee. Merlo would like to say woof woof for his hospitality jar . Absolutely no negatives about this cottage .

The property

The perfect getaway to the lovely and easily accessible area of Appledore on the north coast, close to spectacular beaches and so much to see and do. An immaculate new two-bedroom semi-detached cottage style house, with a sunny south facing garden and modern furnishings, located on the tranquil outskirts of Appledore with ample parking for two cars on the adjoining driveway. This lovely property sleeps four people, having a tastefully decorated master bedroom with king size bed and a further bedroom with twin beds.

There is plenty of wardrobe and drawer space.

The family bathroom is modern with a shower set within the bath.

Downstairs, there is a Lounge diner, flooded with light, with French doors leading to the private patio and rear garden to enjoy the sunshine.

A fully equipped kitchen, containing a microwave, washer/dryer, induction hob, electric oven and integrated fridge freezer.

A great property to have as the base for your holiday. Situated in the fishing village of Appledore, set on a hillside where the River Torridge and Taw meet, you will find this quaint cobbled street village.

The rich history of this area has been centred around ship building, take a visit to the North Devon Maritime Museum.

The quay, popular with crabbing has a great many traditional fishing boats which also are neighbours with yachts and pleasure boats offering trips across, or along the Estuary.

A trip to the pretty 17th century village of Instow is a must, (via foot ferry) which is a wonderful sheltered stretch of dog friendly sandy beach.

A variety of pubs and restaurants to sample the wide range of locally sourced products and seafood.

The Arts and Crafts and local shops will give the option to find unique pieces, the Appledore Crafts Company is also well worth a visit. Take a pleasant stroll to Westward Ho! (where there is great surfing) or Bideford, along the Coast Path.

The beaches at Westward Ho! and Greysands are dog friendly.

There are countless North Devon visits to be made, the traffic free Tarka trail is very popular with cyclists and walkers, allowing the opportunity to enjoy the scenic Devon countryside.

Garden and countryside lovers will enjoy RHS Rosemoor or Tapeley Gardens and the Exmoor National Park all offer a great day out.

If sea fishing is your thing, take a trip and hopefully cook your own dinner from your catch, whilst Dartington Crystal, is the only remaining glass-making factory in the UK.

Or if you are looking for something more adrenalin fuelled, head over to Pebble Ridge Adventure and Go Karts, whilst golfers will enjoy The Royal North Devon Golf Club.

For family fun, visit the “Big Sheep”, “Milky Way adventure” parks only a few miles away in Bideford. A holiday to remember at Harley’s Hideaway.

Where the Taw and Torridge rivers meet, sits the delightful quayside village of Appledore, next to the River Torridge. Appledore boasts a small but great range of shops, pubs, guesthouses and art galleries. A thriving fishing and trading village since the 14th century, Appledore has been a famous boat-building centre for many years and the shipyard is still active today. Picturesque Appledore provides a peaceful base from which to explore North Devon, and is close to surf beaches.The Quay is very central to life in the village and it is here you will find many activities including fishing trips, crabbing contests on the quay, and sometimes Morris Dancers. This quaint fishing village has a maze of narrow streets leading to the quay.
Just four miles from Appledore,straddling the Torridge estuary, is the quaint bustling town of Bideford boasts a medieval bridge, town quay, quaint pannier market and vibrant shopping area - all well worth a visit. For the more active, several major surfing beaches, golf courses, theme parks and other attractions are nearby and the South West coast path passes close by on its way into Cornwall. The beautiful cliff-top fishing village of Clovelly is half an hour by road, and the delights of Exmoor and Dartmoor can be reached in under an hour. Surf the waves, stroll through pretty villages, wander along the Tarka Trail, visit a famous garden or have some fun at one of the local theme or farm parks – it’s all on the doorstep.
