  • "Beautiful cottage and surround gardens."

One local pub with good food and lovely views over river Fowey. To access Fowey we were able to jump on ferry few minutes walk from cottage which would cost us £10 plus return on foot for both of us . The last ferry back to Boddinick was about 9pm which meant we had to return over water early..To travel to Fowey by car was a journey of approx 20 miles. As there was no little shop in Boddinick we had to drive out fo find one We love walking and there is a well known route Hall Walk close to cottage if you can manage steep hill..

We are so pleased that you enjoyed Jordan Cottage and its garden. The ferry does enable visitors to enjoy the best of both worlds going over to Fowey and staying in the relative tranquillity of this side of the river. Property Owner

  • "I've just has the best week at Jordans Cottage and I would highly recommend it."

Stunning location, beautiful views and garden, such a gorgeous peaceful place to relax and unwind and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Excellent instructions, directions and information on the property and surrounding area provided by Richard. There are some steep open drops at the edge of the garden just to be aware of if you are taking your dog don't let them in the garden unsupervised. Bodinnick is beautiful and quiet, lovely old pub with an outdoor balcony and views of Fowey just a few minutes walk down the hill. The ferry from Bodinnick over to Fowey runs every 10 mins and costs £2.70 for an adult 1 way on foot and £10.50 by car return journey and Fowey is so lovely with lots of little shops, cafes, bakeries and restaurants. I can recommend the Haveners with beautiful views of the harbour and delicious food. There is also a beautiful tiny beach. The last ferry back to Bodinnick is at 8pm. I would highly recommend the Hall Walk to Polruan (3 miles) absolutely stunning views and not too difficult, my 11 year old dog managed it. Polkerris has a beautiful beach which is easily accessible, just a short walk down hill from the car park, it's not dog friendly in Summer but dogs can go in Sam's Bar and the pub next door, both do lovely food and have outdoor areas that overlook the beach. I will definitely be back to stay at Jordans Cottage.

Thank you Kim for being such a considerate and appreciative guest. You are most welcome to come back and stay anytime. All the very best Richard and Christine Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful time, the cottage over looked the river and we watched the boats going up and down."

It was so close to the ferry that we used it every day. Cosy nights with the log burner. Would definitely go again as it was really close to my family who all live there, loved coming home.

  • "We really enjoyed our time at Jordan Cottage."

The owners provided us with everything we needed for a comfortable and homely stay. It was ideal for a couple wanting peace and quiet and a nice outlook. Richard gave good advice and guidance on gaining access, parking, local attractions and amenities. Boddinick is a very good location for visiting Fowey, Eden Project, great beaches, historical harbours and other coastal areas with good access to the SW Coastal Paths. The cottage is located half way up a hill so guests should be aware they need to walk up if spending the day in Fowey and using the foot ferry (£2.50/person each way) (Car £6 each way) to cross. Or having a very good meal and few drinks in the Old Ferry Inn at the foot of the hill. It was great to have a designated parking space, but those with low bumpers/poor ground clearance need to take extra care when driving in and out of the steep access to the small car park opposite the cottage. Also be aware there are steps down to the cottage if carrying baggage or those with walking difficulties.

This is a very fair and entirely accurate assessment of Jordan Cottage which we were very pleased to receive. Many thanks Richard and Christine Property Owner

The property

Jordan Cottage is a homely riverside retreat located in the tranquil village of Bodinnick, just 0.8 miles and a quick ferry ride from the picturesque and lively town of Fowey.

Fowey has a great range of shops and eateries as well as its own beach, Readymoney Cove, and you can also join in a range of activities such as boat hire and sea and river trips etc.

In this way, Jordan Cottage offers the best of both worlds: a characterful Cornish holiday home and garden with the town of Fowey nearby. Inside, Jordan Cottage offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with views of the Fowey estuary and all its activities which include sailing, boating, rowing and the occasional appearance of ocean- going ships which dock opposite the cottage in order to load up with Cornish china clay.

The well equipped kitchen provides all that is needed for dining at home, including fresh herbs from the pots outside the door.

The bedroom has a comfortable double bed and has a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and bedside cupboards for clothes and possessions.

The nearby bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower for a relaxing soak or a refreshing shower.

The cosy sitting room is perfect for cooler evenings complete with a wood burning stove and a free supply of kindling and logs.

Entertainment is covered with a Smart TV, DVD player and a good selection of classic and contemporary films.

The well-stocked bookcase and comfortable arm chair and sofa are distinctive features of this cottage.

Finally, the large airy conservatory allows you to enjoy the views of the Fowey Valley, including the estuary and the surrounding hills as well as the wildlife in the trees and woodland below.

The conservatory not only has a comfortable sitting area but also includes a large dining table which can double up as a workspace area.

In the coffee table shelves there are OS maps, local walking guides and a pair of binoculars.

Outside the cottage there is reserved, free parking which makes your arrival and parking during your stay guaranteed.

Very importantly, there is a large, private garden with outdoor furniture so that you can best enjoy relaxing in the sunshine.

The garden has a planted area and every opportunity has been taken to encourage wildlife.

The garden is regularly visited by tawny owls, nesting tits, bats and even deer.

Many great walks, including the wooded estuary and sweeping coastline, start in Bodinnick and guests are welcome to bring one well-behaved dog.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

FOWEY

Lostwithiel 8 miles; Polperro 8 miles.

Looe 8 miles. In Bodinnick and Fowey you are in the heart of Daphne Du Maurier country with all those rich associations. Fowey is easily accessed by the Bodinnick Ferry which runs continuously and takes cars and foot passengers across the river. The ferry runs from morning until evening and provides guests with a wonderful choice of holiday experiences. There are a wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafes to satisfy all tastes. Fish meals abound and Rick Stein praised dining in Fowey in his television series on Cornwall but there are also tapas, pizza and fish and chip venues to provide for all tastes.

The historic and special town of Fowey on the impressive estuary of the river Fowey is full of activity and colour with sailing, canoeing and gig rowing. Galleries and pottery shops play their part in the artistic life of the town and the aquarium and museum add to your range of choices. The Town Quay is very central to life in Fowey and many events take place here.

This is also where you can book to go on river trips or take a ferry out to sea and call in at the old fishing town of Mevagissey. You can also hire your own dingy by the hour and explore the estuary or join in on one of the many group kayak expeditions up river.

In the Fowey Valley you are never far from the sea and there are any number of beaches and coves to be explored. There is Readymoney Cove with the village of Polruan just across the river by passenger ferry, which also offers a beach. A little further away there is Polkerris beach with swimming and other water-based activities and back on the east side of the estuary is the wild and spectacular Lantic Bay.

Walking in Cornwall is always a pleasure and the Fowey Valley offers exceptional walks both on the east and west sides of the estuary. Walk books and OS maps in the cottage can help you plan your visits.

Guests at Jordan Cottage particularly enjoy days out and The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are favourites. There are also plenty of National Trust Properties to enjoy and Lanhydrock is our nearest. Visiting other towns and villages is also much enjoyed and Polperro, Looe and Charleston Harbour offer interest as does Bodmin Moor with Jamaica Inn and its ancient sites such as The Hurlers.
